Representation of Populated Places on Radar Imagery |
| |
Abstract: | Russian specialists in the application of radar imagery to the study of geographical problems survey its use in the study of urban settlements. More specifically, they are concerned with the types of patterns and tonal signatures (optical densities) manifest on centimeter-band radar imagery, corresponding to buildings and other structures of various heights, dimensions, and construction materials. Cities and smaller urban and rural settlements in Vitebsk Oblast of Belarus and Voronezh Oblast of Russia are compared with respect to such information derived from radar images.
