EXPLOITATION OF QILOU FOR TOURISM IN WUZHOU CITY

Qilou is a special architectural pattern of Lingnan region in South China. Its practical significance in tourism will be embodied in the sustainable development of local economy. By analyzing the present conditions, distribution and its architectural style, the article sets forth that the tourism exploitation of the Qilou block in Wuzhou City nowadays not only can develop the historical value of the Qilou culture, enrich the cultural connotation of the urban tourism resource, improve the urban environment, but also can provide economic support to the effective protection of the Qilou blocks. Four suggestions to the tourism exploitation are put forward: 1) take the style of Qilou as a whole and stick out the local feature. 2) fully excavate the value of its historical culture, traditional commerce and of modern tourism. 3) improve the infrastructure of the city and the living quality of the local inhabitant. 4) enhance creative managements.
