Abstract:In order to increase the effectiveness of radiometric exploration for oil and gas and wi-dely extend its application, in the present paper some problems such as the deduction andinterpretation of interference factors and measurement data obtained from radiometric ex-ploration, evaluation and criteria of the favorable areas, and several concepts are discussed.It suggests that under specific seasonal conditions in the arid area, so long as interferencefactors are overcome in the field work, the quality of measurement results can be guaranteed(with the error of repeated measurement remaining less than 10%) and satisfactory geolo-gical effects will be got. It is indicated that in the processing and interpretation of datafrom radiometric exploration for oil and gas, much attention must be focused to the follo-wing aspects: collection of information, selection of parameters, drawing of contour maps,determination of background and anomalies and evaluation criteria. In addition, new attempt is presented to use the carbon isotope method for the discrimination of anomalieswith oil possibility, and several other concepts are also discussed in this paper.
