Abstract: | Summary The essential theory of time-variant radial heat conduction into an underground mine airway from the surrounding strata is developed. Additional artificial sources of heating and cooling are included in the analysis, and thermodynamic and psychrometric relations are used to track the variation of climatic parameters along the airway. A computer program CLIMSIM is described, which simulates these complex non-linear and interdependent relations, in order to predict variations in climatic conditions throughout sub-surface ventilation systems. |
