移动电子地图技术初探

随着嵌入式技术、通信技术、移动定位技术的发展 ,它们为电子地图技术的发展再次提供了难得发展机遇。本文主要探讨了以上技术和电子地图相结合的可行性 ,分析两种移动电子地图在移动定位、数据处理、数据传输等方面实现的技术以及优缺点

EXPLORING MOBILE MAP

Electronic map has played an important role in state and enterprise affairs,but it hasn't become mass product.With the development of Electronic Technology(mainly Embedded),Communication and Location,Mobile map comes into being.In the near future,people will be able to use handset to access various geographical information anywhere and anytime at will. This paper mainly introduces Electronic Techonlogy,Communication and Location,discusses the possibility to get geographical information with handset,illustrates advantage and disadvantage of current mobile map.In this paper,author enumerates two typical kinds of mobile map:PDA -based mobile map and Pocket -phone -based mobile map.The former has abundant computing,better display environment and enough ROM which can make it easy to show the map such as roaming ,zooming out or in and so on ,and to query information such as routing,geocoding,and so on.With the inset GPS receiver,PDA -based mobile map provides the navigation function.The necessary data is downloaded in memory earlier which needn't to update and makes possible to be real time.Compared with the PC -map,it is delicate and convenient to use and carry,but limited memory and computing can't accomplish complex calculation.As for the latter,it's based on the Server/Client Model:The terminate handset is cellular phone,which has a browser,relative software and hardware ;The server includes spatial information,feature information and dealing with the client request.When the Client sends request,Server searches the spatial data and feature data,and sends them back to Client.But the bandwidth is not enough to access data,the delay is long and the stability can't be assured. At last,author points out new techniques to improve performance of mobile map.We expect that in the future handset become a necessary possession in people's pocket.With abundant applications available for mobile handset and with the rich and high quality services of mobile service providers,people will realize the dream of connecting anywhere and anytime at will.
