| Abstract: | The occurrence of some endemic diseases(fluorosis,Keshan disease,Kashin-beck disease,etc )was not only related to the amounts of certain trace elements but also influenced by environmental and dietary calcium contents Such situation also existed in some environmental pollution related diseases(lead poisoning,Itai itai disease) Calcium contents exerted influence on variation of trace elements at different levels,including in the environment,gastrointestinal tract,and target organs It was important to elucidate the biochemical and metabolic basis of the relationship between trace elements and calcium The mechanism for low dietary calcium contents to exacerbate the severity of skeletal fluorosis and Keshan disease was discussed |
