Abstract: | Summary The formula for apparent resistivity can be interpreted in terms of two quantities more easily identified with the physical process involved: the distribution of current flow in the earth, as it affects the current density along a line between the potential electrodes, and the true resistivity along this line. The analysis permits a qualitative prediction of resistivity sounding and profiling data over a variety of structures. Examples are given for faults, layers, and a dipping dike. |
