Abstract: | It is suggested that as a result of the dawn-dusk asymmetry of the magnetospheric structure of Saturn, caused by the interplanetary magnetic field, the Voyager 1 spacecraft remained in the closed region (the extended plasma sheet) during its entire traversal through the tail region, so that it did not have an opportunity to penetrate into the high latitude lobe (the open region). |
