Abstract: | Predictions suggest that the world sea level will rise dramatically in the twenty-first century as a result of atmospheric and oceanic warming arising from the 'greenhouse effect'. Changing sea level is nothing new to the geologist, but rapid rates of rise over short periods and potentially devastating impacts present a major challenge to society in the need to provide effective management of global biogeochemical cycles. |
