QUANTITIVE APPLICATION OF COLOUR INDEX OF METALLIC MINERALS

The colour index of metallic minerals is making new progress in quantitative determination of modern mineralography. The application of visual reflectance, colour tone, saturation degree and colorimetric coordinates of colour index are all useful for qualitative observation.The visual reflectance approaches the reflectance most like that which is ovserved by man rather than the reilec-tance that is determined at white and green wavelengths. The use of colouri-metric coordinates has application in calculating the relative colour differences of reflex polychrominess in order to judge the notable degree of reflex polychro-miness.The application of the colour index in the apprasial of metallic minerals was systemized in an attempt to formulate and simplify known appraisal table and to aid in future appraisal of metallic minerals.
