A standard addition method for the determination of iron in plating solution of making coin by flame atomic absorption spectrometry is reported. Chemical interference of more large amounts of nickel is eliminated. And the background interfere of nickel and other ions is completely deducted with Zeemen effect. The linearity of standard curve of tron(0-11mg/L) in the presence of below 50g/L nickel is very good. And the curve passes the central point coordinate. The limit of detection (3s) is 0. 14mg/L. And determination range is 0 . 2 8 - 5 mg / L for the largestamount of standard addition is 6 mg / L . The interrelation coefficient of adding standard curve is 0. 99956-0. 99994 and the relative standard deviation is 0. 94-2. 23% for samples analysis. This method is accurate and reliable.
