Abstract:GPS is an all-day,continuous high-precision positioning system,and has the characteristics of positioning rapidly,low cost,flexible and simple method,so within surveying,navigation,science and related disciplines,it has an extremely wide range of application.This paper will use the Shanghai Pudong New Area land measurement project as an example,briefly describes the GPS measurements in engineering surveying in the early stage of the project application examples,and uses the measuring points from GPS to get the area of the land in Pudong area.Lastly it concludes that the GPS technology also has some drawbacks.
