Abstract: | Physical conditions are found for a hot intercloud gas in the nuclei of Seyfert galaxies. The gas temperature is determined by photoionization and Compton-scattering of the shortwave radiation of the nucleus. Using observational data for the coronal emission line Fe x] 6374 Å, the gas densityn=104cm–3 and temperatureT=106K, typical for the distance 2 pc from the central source, are obtained. It is shown that the intercloud gas is in the state of accretion by the nucleus with a rateM10–2
M
yr–1. |
