Diagenetic pyrite from the lead-zinc deposits of Zawar,India

Abstract:Pyrite from the Precambrian lead-zinc deposits of Zawar, West India, shows excellent sedimentary features, viz., composite bedding, lenticular bedding, flame structure etc. which are attributed to turbidites. Early diagenetic pyrite occurs as framboids and isolated euhedral as well as subhedral grains. Most of the isolated grains are probably derived from the breaking of unconsolidated framboids. Diagenetic crystallization of pyrite became operative during an early stage of deposition and continued to modify the initial sedimentary fabrics.
