On the least-squares adjustment of a straight line

The linear regression of one variable on the other is reviwed, together with its statistical analysis. The adjustment of both variables is reduced to the previous regression. The mathematical form of the straight line is independent of the relative weight of the two variables. Only the adjusted coordinates vary, along the line, in proportion to that weight.
