The effects of land use changes on the ecology and hydrology of natural watersheds have long been debated. However, less attention has been given to the hydrological effects of forest roads. Although less studied, several researchers have claimed that streamflow changes related to forest roads can cause a persistent and pervasive effect on hillslope hydrology and the functioning of the channel system. The main potential direct effects of forest roads on natural watersheds hydrologic response are runoff production on roads surfaces due to reduced infiltration rates, interruption of subsurface flow by road cutslopes and rapid transfer of the produced runoff to the stream network through roadside ditches. The aforementioned effects may significantly modify the total volume and timing of the hillslope flow to the stream network. This study uses detailed field data, spatial data, hydro‐meteorological records, as well as numerical simulation to investigate the effects of forest roads on the hydrological response of a small‐scale mountain experimental watershed, which is situated in the east side of Penteli Mountain, Attica, Greece. The results of this study highlight the possible effects of forest roads on the watersheds hydrological response that may significantly influence direct runoff depths and peak flow rates. It is demonstrated that these effects can be very important in permeable watersheds and that more emphasis should be given on the impact of roads on the watersheds hydrological response. Gravel road surfaces can be a major source of fine sediment to streams, yet their contribution to channel reach sediment balances remains poorly documented. To quantify the input of road surface material and to compare this input with natural sediment sources at the reach scale, suspended sediment dynamics was examined and a 16‐month sediment balance was developed for a ~35 channel‐width (approx. 425 m) reach of the Honna River, a medium‐size, road‐affected stream located in coastal British Columbia. Of the 105 ± 33 t of suspended material passing through the reach, 18 ± 6% was attributed to the road surface. The high availability of sediment on the road surface appears to limit hysteresis in road run‐off. During rainstorms that increase streamflow, road surface material composed 0.5–15% of sediment inputs during relatively dry conditions from April to the end of September and 5–70% through wetter conditions from October to the end of March, but our data do not show evidence of major sediment accumulation on the riverbed in the reach. A comparison of modelled sediment production on the road surface with observed yields from drainage channels suggests that (1) during low intensity rainfall, ditches and drainage channels may trap sediment from road run‐off, which is subsequently released during events of greater intensity, and/or (2) production models do not effectively describe processes, such as deposition or erosion of sediment in ditches, which control sediment transport and delivery. Our findings further emphasize the risk of unpaved roads in polluting river systems and highlight the continued need for careful road design and location away from sensitive aquatic environments. 在地图综合过程中,线的图形简化和移位算子通常是分别执行的,图形简化和移位有时都会产生新的空间冲突。本文试图把这两种算子进行协同,避免在地图综合过程中进行空间冲突的多次探测,提高地图综合数据处理的效率。本文通过把线图形简化转换为线上的点移位,并构建邻近地图目标之间的移位传播路径,在考虑空间上下文关系和地图感受规则的前提下,使移位过程能考虑到线图形简化,并尽量保持有关地图目标的空间特征。最后,以道路和其周边的建筑物群为例,验证了该算法的有效性和可行性。  相似文献

利用黄河源地区1985年和2000年1:100000土地利用/覆被数据,结合1:250000DEM、道路和居民点数据与野外调查资料,分析草地退化与坡向、海拔及距道路和居民点距离之间的关系.探讨黄河源区15年间土地覆被变化特征与规律。结果表明,退化草地占源区总面积的8.24%,冬春季牧场退化率显著高于夏季牧场:草地退化是黄河源区研究时段内土地利用/覆被变化最主要的特征。草地退化表现为:①阳坡退化率高于阴坡;②受人口密度影响,草地退化率与海拔高度成反比,相关系数为.0.925;③距离居民点越近。退化率越高。尤其当与居民点距离≤12km时,草地退化率与其相关系数高达-0.996;④在距道路4km以内.草地退化率与道路距离成反比.相关系数高达-0.978。1985年以来,源区的草地退化有自然因素的影响.但人类活动的影响仍起主导作用。科学地减少当地居民对草地的过分依赖是解决脆弱的江河源区环境退化的根本。  相似文献

区域一体化与制度距离作用下的中国企业跨境并购   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
在区域一体化蓬勃发展的背景下,研究企业跨境并购有助于更好地理解资本在区域间的流动。论文基于BVD-Zephyr数据库统计的2003—2017年中国企业跨境并购数据,分析了交易双方是否签订区域一体化协定和彼此间的制度距离对跨境并购成功率和交易金额的影响。通过Heckman两阶段回归,研究发现:① 区域一体化能够促进中国企业达成跨境并购交易,但不能提升交易金额;② 中国企业与正式制度距离远,即法律、规制层面差异大的国家内企业完成跨境并购的可能性更高,但正式制度距离的存在不利于交易规模扩大;③ 非正式制度距离与交易完成呈负相关关系,即文化层面上的差异过大不利于中国企业完成跨境并购。然而交易一旦完成,非正式制度距离大的贸易双方交易金额更高。此外,论文还认为,随着区域一体化进程的深化,内部成员国之间正式制度距离会衰减,其对交易规模的阻碍作用也会被削弱。  相似文献

人们对道路重要性的认知与道路周边设施有重要关系,针对现有地图综合道路选取方法中对语义特征考虑不足的问题,将POI数据引入到道路的语义特征分析中,提出一种综合考虑道路空间特征和语义特征的道路综合自动选取方法。首先,结合POI位置数据构造了道路语义特征度量的3个新参量:设施点密度、重要设施比率和专题设施比率;然后,与道路长度、连接值、总深度值、平均线密度等反映道路几何、拓扑和分布特征的度量参量一起,通过归一化和熵值法赋权进行整合计算,得到道路重要性值;最后,综合考虑道路重要性值、道路stroke构成和stroke连通度的约束条件进行道路的分步选取。实验结果表明,该方法在保留主要道路、保持道路分布疏密特征和道路连通性的同时,较好地顾及了道路的语义特征信息。  相似文献

基于1987—2018年西双版纳30 m分辨率橡胶林数据集,利用叠置、缓冲区等GIS空间分析方法,对比分析了过去32年橡胶林沿道路、河流和边境线的空间变化特征与区域差异。结果表明:1) 1987—2018年,西双版纳橡胶种植面积在道路、河流沿线5 km以内分别增加了1 874.6和1 484.6 km2,在边境地区(国境线20km缓冲带)增加了1 393.1 km2。2)从道路沿线看,受橡胶种植可达性和交通运输影响,过去32年道路5 km缓冲带内的橡胶林平均占比超过九成。3)从河流沿线看,因灌溉和水源等需求,过去32年河流沿线5 km缓冲带内橡胶林平均占比69.7%。值得注意的是,受天然橡胶价格持续低迷、城镇化与生态环境保护等影响,2010年河流沿线橡胶林种植面积开始下降,沿线2 km内表现尤为显著。4)从边境地区看,西双版纳橡胶林种植呈明显趋边性特征,跨境种植频繁。过去32年边境沿线地区橡胶林平均占比55.6%,且由1987年的35.4%上升到2018年的66.2%,其中,在中缅边境的扩张面积和速率高于中老边境。  相似文献

In the work reported here the comprehensive physics‐based Integrated Hydrology Model (InHM) was employed to conduct both three‐ and two‐dimensional (3D and 2D) hydrologic‐response simulations for the small upland catchment known as C3 (located within the H. J. Andrews Experimental Forest in Oregon). Results from the 3D simulations for the steep unchannelled C3 (i) identify subsurface stormflow as the dominant hydrologic‐response mechanism and (ii) show the effect of the down‐gradient forest road on both the surface and subsurface flow systems. Comparison of the 3D results with the 2D results clearly illustrates the importance of convergent subsurface flow (e.g. greater pore‐water pressures in the hollow of the catchment for the 3D scenario). A simple infinite‐slope model, driven by subsurface pore‐water pressures generated from the 3D and 2D hydrologic‐response simulations, was employed to estimate slope stability along the long‐profile of the C3 hollow axis. As expected, the likelihood of slope failure is underestimated for the lower pore pressures from the 2D hydrologic‐response simulation compared, in a relative sense, to the higher pore pressures from the 3D hydrologic response simulation. The effort reported herein provides a firm quantitative foundation for generalizing the effects that forest roads can have on near‐surface hydrologic response and slope stability at the catchment scale. Cross-border communication and co-operation at the Eastern fringe of the European Union seems so far to have been a matter of political initiative and a lot of good will at the levels of national, regional and local governance. This article maintains that everyday culture must be given more notice when cross-border activities are regarded at the local level, especially in twin cities. The case of the German-Polish twin city Guben/Gubin reveals a strong tendency towards a new divergence of thought and action between formal and informal levels of action, namely the level of local politics and governance and the level of local everyday milieux. While the politics of Euroregions, local administrations and local governments is very often directed towards establishing symbolic gestures of border-crossing and mutual understanding, social milieux at the ‘base’ of local societies are rather driven by a paradoxical mixture of hope, anxiety, resentments and prejudice, thus producing contradictions and even conflict with official political initiative. One of the major means to foster European integration is the establishment of border spanning regions (‘Euroregions’). This is particularly important on the Eastern borders of the EU, e.g. in Eastern Germany. There, however, a double transformation to post-socialist society is taking place, both inside and outside the EU. Tensions arise between objectives on local and higher political levels, intensified by totally different economic structures and access to EU funds on both sides of the border. This is particularly true for the case of the emerging Euroregion Viadrina. Problems in preserving old industrialised localities in East Germany (e.g. steel) and attempts to resurrect the urban fair place Frankfurt/Oder, clash with transition in agriculture and consumer industries and with new concepts in tourism development and environmental protection in the Polish border zone. In region building, political, economic and ideological goals compete with each other. Local initiatives and higher political governance may both support and hamper each other. The same holds true for the interdependence of cultural integration and economic development. The paper concludes that regional economic development can only be expected if, via the building of the Euroregion, the interplay of these factors leads to compromise and harmonization between the different parties involved.
