This paper presents UV data recorded over 12 months in 2000/2001 at a southern hemisphere (Toowoomba) and similar latitude northern hemisphere (BigBend and Everglades) sites using Brewer Spectrophotometers. The peak daily erythemally weighted UV (DUV) at the Toowoomba site was 8.8% and 25% higher compared to that at the BigBend and Everglades sites, respectively. The Everglades site exposures are lower than the BigBend site exposures in summer and spring. This may be due to the higher cloud cover for the Everglades site. The summer DUV values between Toowoomba and BigBend are similar. In spring, the average DUV value is the greatest at BigBend compared to the other two sites. Results indicate that variability between the measurement sites is due to varying cloud and ozone, and possibly due to aerosol and airmass differences of each region. Of these different site-specific local atmospheric conditions, cloud was the main contributor to the differences in UV between the sites. 相似文献

贵州晴隆中二叠统大厂层中—上部产出一套呈囊状、透镜状分布的砾岩层。对大厂层砾岩沉积序列、结构、构造特征和矿物组合进行研究,结果表明:沉积序列为"反粒序",砾岩成分单一,基本为玄武质,是由峨眉山玄武岩直接改造而成,未发育河道相沉积特征;大厂层砾石具特殊的"泥化边"构造,是玄武岩在海水中大量水解的直接证据,填隙物中的青磐岩化矿物组合表明砾岩遭受了低温热液的改造。填隙物具有接近凝灰岩的Zr/Hf(30.7~43.4,均值38.0),揭示玄武岩在改造形成砾石的过程中有火山碎屑(火山灰)参与成岩;砾石和填隙物相对玄武岩贫Na(Na2O)富K(K2O),三者具有相似的稀土配分模式,其中∑REE呈规律性变化(玄武岩最高,砾石次之,填隙物中最低)。沉积背景分析认为,峨眉地幔柱作用使地壳发生了差异抬升,抬升一侧暴露遭受剥蚀形成不整合面,相对沉降一侧继续接受沉积,大厂层正是峨眉山玄武岩前锋带在局限海盆边缘(沉降侧),于茅口灰岩之上继续沉积的产物。大厂层砾岩形成机制是:炽热玄武岩流在海水中急剧爆裂,同时火山碎屑参与沉积,形成的玄武岩前积层(淬碎熔岩角砾)及凝灰岩,沉积在茅口组灰岩之上;在后期的演化过程中,炽热玄武岩冷凝收缩,柱状节理发育,在潮汐流和沿岸流的相互作用下不断磨蚀形成大厂层砾岩。 相似文献

A new study of the geology of the Nahr-el-Kelb region, situated 10 km northeast of Beirut, shows a complex tectonics not seen by Dubertret [Carte géologique au 1/200?000e feuille de Beyrouth avec notice explicative, 1954] while establishing his geologic section. The Neogene series observed (conglomerate, succession of sandstone, marl, clayey limestone, limestone, covered by massive limestone), lie disconformably on Cretaceous series and occur with a vertical dip in the Ghosta flexure in contradiction with the old vision of Dubertret [Carte géologique au 1/200?000e feuille de Beyrouth avec notice explicative, 1954; La bordure orientale de la Méditerranée en tant que témoin de l'évolution des accidents de l'Est africain, in: XXe Congrès géologique international, Associacion Servicios Geologicos Africanos Mexico, 1956, pp. 377–384] on the Neogene tectonics in Lebanon. In this flexure, close to the road crossing to Jiita, the upper conglomerate beds have variable dips. Starting close to the vertical, as for the underlying Cretaceous series, the dip gradually decreases in the upper conglomerate beds, to become horizontal at the top of the formation. Coarse clastic rocks in the Liuqu Conglomerate, formed in both terrestrial and subaqueous settings, record a Paleogene phase in the tectonic evolution of Tibet. Facies changes are commonly abrupt with rapid changes in clast types, grain size and stratal patterns. Sediments were derived from the leading (northern) edge of the Indian margin and a Late Jurassic–Cretaceous intraoceanic island arc that lay within Tethys. The coarse clastic sedimentary rocks of the Liuqu conglomerates are extremely proximal, but are locally offset relative to their original source terranes. They record aspects of the history of collision between these terranes and are interpreted to have been deposited in oblique–slip basins that developed along the zone of collision. The absence of clasts derived from terranes to the north of the Yarlung–Tsangpo suture suggests that basins associated with deposition of the Liuqu Conglomerate developed prior to the final collision between India and Asia. 相似文献

Lenses of radioactive Quartz Pebble Conglomerates (QPC) and associated quartzites are exposed along western margin of Archean Bonai Granite in Singhbhum-Orissa Craton, eastern India intermittently spreading over a strike length of 8–10 km. QPCs are radioactive while quartzites are mostly non-radioactive in nature. The purpose of the research is to investigate and characterize the radioactive QPC and quartzites geochemically to decipher their paleo-weathering conditions, provenance characteristics and possible tectonic setting of deposition. Geochemical data suggest moderate to high chemical weathering conditions in the provenance areas of QPC and quartzites. Major, trace and REE data indicate predominantly felsic to partly mafic-ultramafic sources for the deposition of radioactive Quartz Pebble Conglomerates from the surrounding Archean terrain.Elevated values of Th, U, Pb, La, Ce, Y and low Sc with high critical trace elemental ratios of Th/Sc, La/Sc, Th/Cr and Zr/Sc in radioactive QPC indicate their derivation from felsic igneous source. Low concentration of Th and Sc in quartzites compared to QPC and their variable Th/Sc ratios indicate both felsic and mafic sources for quartzites, albeit their preferential felsic affiliation. Higher Cr/Th ratios in quartzites (18.4), moderate Cr/Th in QPC (5.42), low to moderate Y/Ni in QPC (0.36–12.4) and quartzite (0.29–1.88), along with Au ranging from 30 to 1527 ppb, Pt up to 188 ppb and 682 ppb in QPC and quartzites respectively point towards some contribution from mafic-ultramafic source as well. REE patterns and in particular negative Eu anomalies for both QPC and quartzites further support their derivation from felsic rocks and could possibly linked to some of the phases of Archean Singhbhum Granite and Bonai Granite. Granitic to pegmatitic source for QPC is also revealed by the presence of rounded to sub-rounded monazite, zircon and thorian-uraninite grains in their matrix. Study indicates that QPC and quartzites were deposited in a passive margin tectonic setting developed during Archean between a span of 3.3 and 3.16 Ga along the western margin of Bonai Granite when the reducing condition was prevalent as indicated by their low Th/U ratios (<4.0) and presence of detrital grains of uraninite and pyrite in QPC. Radioactive QPC from western margin of Archean Singhbhum-Orissa Craton bears broad resemblance with QPC from Witwatersrand basin of South Africa and Elliot Lake, Canada and thus appears to be ideal sites for exploring QPC hosted U (+Au-PGE) mineralization in the analogous areas. 相似文献

The ultraviolet (UV) spectra on cloudy days were compared to those on cloud free days to determine which part of the UV spectrum has the greatest enhancement due to the cloud compared to both corresponding measured clear sky spectra as well as other enhanced spectra. In this preliminary study, cloud enhanced UV spectra selected for maximum UVA enhancement compared to a clear sky UV spectrum at similar solar zenith angle (SZA) and ozone values, showed that the ratio of the two sets of spectral irradiances was approximately wavelength independent (approximately 1.1) above the cut-off wavelength of approximately 306 nm. Similarly, above 306 nm the average ratio of the spectral irradiances of a maximum UVB enhanced UV spectrum compared to a clear sky spectrum was 1.2 with maximum values generally above this average between 316 and 344 nm and generally below 1.2 above the wavelength of 344 nm. The UVA and UVB enhanced spectra were separated into five SZA ranges and the irradiance at each wavelength averaged for each range and compared to clear sky spectra in each of the ranges. Above approximately 306 nm, the ratios are wavelength independent for all SZA. However, with the exception of the SZA range centred on 20°, there is an increasing dependency with shorter wavelengths below the 306 nm. Also there appears to be two distinct groupings of the average irradiance ratios, corresponding to the SZA range centred on 20°, 37° and 49° (ratio of 1.2) and 32° and 42° (ratio 1.0), the latter cases suggesting that on average there is no enhancement for these SZA, except for wavelengths less than 306 nm. 相似文献
