The topic of ship recycling has obtained considerable attention during the last two decades for a variety of reasons with the likelihood of the adoption of a new international convention under the auspices of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). This study applies econometric modeling to a unique data set to provide insight into the dynamics of the ship recycling market. The data set contains information on 51,112 ships over 100 gt and includes 748,621 events over a period of 29 years. The analysis confirms a negative relationship of earnings and a positive relationship of scrap prices for all locations while Bangladesh seems to be more sensitive to changes in earnings than the other locations and more likely demolishes larger and older vessels. The results for flag and ownership vary across scrapping locations with Malta and Cyprus indicating potential importance from a registry perspective. The overall safety profile of a vessel seems to be less important towards the probability of a ship being scrapped. Possible implementation of the convention at EU level will mostly likely affect Turkey while non-ratification of one of the major flags will most likely affect China or Bangladesh. 相似文献

Dam removal is becoming an effective approach for aquatic biodiversity restoration in damming river in order to balance the aquatic ecosystem conservation with large-scale cascade damming. However, the effects of dam removal on fish communities in Asian mountainous rivers, which are dominated by Cypriniformes fishes, are still not well known. To determine whether dam removal on a mountainous river benefit restoration of fish diversity, we investigated the response of fish assemblage to dam removal using a before-after-control-impact design in two tributaries of the Lancang River(dam removal river: the Jidu River, and control river: the Fengdian River). Fish surveys were conducted one year prior to dam removal(2012) and three years(2013–2015) following dam removal. We observed rapidly and notably spatio-temporal changes in fish biodiversity metrics and assemblage structure, occurring in the Jidu River within the first year after dam removal. Overall, fish species richness, density and Shannon-Wiener diversity all increased immediately in above-and below-dam sites, and maintained a stable level in subsequent years, compared to unchanged situation in the control river. All sites in the Jidu River experienced shifts in fish composition after dam removal, with the greatest temporal changes occurred in sites below-and above-the former dam, resulting in a temporal homogenization tendency in the dam removed river. These findings suggest that dam removal can benefit the recovery of habitat conditions and fish community in Asian mountainous rivers, but the results should be further evaluated when apply to other dammed rivers since the dam age, fluvial geomorphology and situation of source populations could all affect the responses of fish assemblages. 相似文献

地震及爆炸荷载下的结构连续倒塌问题对人民的生命财产造成重大威胁,是土木工程领域研究的一个热门方向。为了提高新型预应力空心楼板结构的整体性,防止由于竖向支承构件的失效形成楼板的局部或者连续倒塌,对2块新型预应力空心板足尺模型进行四分点静力加载试验,研究新型预制装配式两跨连续楼板的抗连续倒塌能力。试件均由预应力空心短板通过板端伸出U形筋和胡子筋进行对接连接,板侧纵向拼缝通过胡子筋和植筋与边梁的纵筋进行连接,2个试件的计算跨度相同。本文采用在加载过程中突然拆除中间支座,得到楼板破坏形态、裂缝发展、承载能力、应变、最大变形等试验结果。对试件的受力过程、悬索作用机理进行分析,最后得到楼盖拼缝及板侧边梁连接构造的布置合理,新型预制装配式楼盖采用合适的周边连系和横向拼缝连接可以达到理想的抗倒塌能力。 相似文献

为了分析一次性爆破拆除多栋建筑造成的地面振动的特征及对周边建筑物的影响,对武汉交通学校群楼爆破拆除中的地面振动进行了测量,并对实测的塌落振动的峰值、频谱特性进行分析。结果表明:此次监测记录到的峰值频率在5~10 Hz,对比高架桥以及单一高层结构爆破拆除数据,倒塌叠加使得振动能量在频谱上分布更加离散,其峰值频率与周边结构自振频率相差变大,周边建筑共振的危险性降低;对于周围的结构而言,水平振动持时大于竖向振动,但水平振动幅值明显小于竖向振动;爆破塌落振动的竖向分量对周围结构的威胁较大,应采取有效的缓冲及隔振措施;由《爆破安全规程》和周边建筑爆破前后主振频率分析可知,本次爆破拆除工作未对周边建筑造成破坏性影响,验证了群楼爆破拆除方案的高效性和安全性。 相似文献

This paper introduces and evaluates a methodology for the aftershock seismic assessment of buildings taking explicitly into account residual drift demands after the mainshock (i.e., postmainshock residual interstory drifts, RIDRo). The methodology is applied to a testbed four‐story steel moment‐resisting building designed with modern seismic design provisions when subjected to a set of near‐fault mainshock–aftershock seismic sequences that induce five levels of RIDRo. Once the postmainshock residual drift is induced to the building model, a postmainshock incremental dynamic analysis is performed under each aftershock to obtain its collapse capacity and its capacity associated to demolition (i.e., the capacity to reach or exceed a 2% residual drift). The effect of additional sources of stiffness and strength (i.e., interior gravity frames and slab contribution) and the polarity of the aftershocks are examined in this study. Results of this investigation show that the collapse potential under aftershocks strongly depends on the modeling approach (i.e., the aftershock collapse potential is modified when additional sources of lateral stiffness and strength are included in the analytical model). Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the aftershock capacity associated to demolition (i.e., the aftershock collapse capacity associated to a residual interstory drift that leads to an imminent demolition) is lower than that of the aftershock collapse capacity, which mean that this parameter should be a better measure of the building residual capacity against aftershocks.
