In view of rapid developments in iterative solvers, it is timely to re‐examine the merits of using mixed formulation for incompressible problems. This paper presents extensive numerical studies to compare the accuracy of undrained solutions resulting from the standard displacement formulation with a penalty term and the two‐field mixed formulation. The standard displacement and two‐field mixed formulations are solved using both direct and iterative approaches to assess if it is cost‐effective to achieve more accurate solutions. Numerical studies of a simple footing problem show that the mixed formulation is able to solve the incompressible problem ‘exactly’, does not create pressure and stress instabilities, and obviate the need for an ad hoc penalty number. In addition, for large‐scale problems where it is not possible to perform direct solutions entirely within available random access memory, it turns out that the larger system of equations from mixed formulation also can be solved much more efficiently than the smaller system of equations arising from standard formulation by using the symmetric quasi‐minimal residual (SQMR) method with the generalized Jacobi (GJ) preconditioner. Iterative solution by SQMR with GJ preconditioning also is more elegant, faster, and more accurate than the popular Uzawa method. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

I present theoretical line profiles and intensity maps from an axi-symmetric radiative wind model from a rapidly rotating Be star. The introduction of a viscosity parameter in the latitude-dependent hydrodynamic code enables us to consider the effects of the viscous force in the azimuthal component of momentum equations (Araújo et al. 1994). Both velocity field and density law derived from the hydrodynamic equations have been used for solving the statistical equilibrium equations. By adopting the Sobolev approximation, we could easily obtain a good estimate of both electronic density and hydrogen level populations throughout the envelope. The numerical calculation was performed for parameters characterisic of the Be star Cassiopeiae.  相似文献

We perform numerical simulations to explore the dynamical evolution of the HD 82943 planetary system. By simulating diverse planetary configurations, we find two mechanisms of stabilizing the system: the 2:1 mean motion resonance (MMR) between the two planets can act as the first mechanism for all stable orbits. The second mechanism is a dynamical antialignment of the apsidal lines of the orbiting planets, which implies that the difference of the periastron longitudes 3 librates about 180° in the simulations. We also use a semi-analytical model to explain the numerical results for the system under study.  相似文献

Unipolar induction (UI) is a fundamental physical process, which occurs when a conducting body transverses a magnetic field. It has been suggested that UI is operating in RX J0806+15 and RX J1914+24, which are believed to be ultracompact binaries with orbital periods of 5.4 and 9.6 min, respectively. The UI model predicts that those two sources may be electron cyclotron maser sources at radio wavelengths. Other systems in which UI has been predicted to occur are short period extrasolar terrestrial planets with conducting cores. If UI is present, circularly polarized radio emission is predicted to be emitted. We have searched for this predicted radio emission from short period binaries using the Very Large Array (VLA) and Australian Telescope Compact Array (ATCA). In one epoch, we find evidence for a radio source, coincident in position with the optical position of RX J0806+15. Although we cannot completely exclude that this is a chance alignment between the position of RX J0806+15 and an artefact in the data reduction process, the fact that it was detected at a significance level of 5.8σ and found to be transient suggests that it is more likely that RX J0806+15 is a transient radio source. We find an upper limit on the degree of circular polarization to be ∼50 per cent. The inferred brightness temperature exceeds 1018 K, which is too high for any known incoherent process, but is consistent with maser emission and UI being the driving mechanism. We did not detect radio emission from ES Cet, RX J1914+24 or Gliese 876.  相似文献

A complete study is made of the resonant motion of two planets revolving around a star, in the model of the general planar three body problem. The resonant motion corresponds to periodic motion of the two planets, in a rotating frame, and the position and stability properties of the periodic orbits determine the topology of the phase space and consequently play an important role in the evolution of the system. Several families of symmetric periodic orbits are computed numerically, for the 2/1 resonance, and for the masses of some observed extrasolar planetary systems. In this way we obtain a global view of all the possible stable configurations of a system of two planets. These define the regions of the phase space where a resonant extrasolar system could be trapped, if it had followed in the past a migration process.The factors that affect the stability of a resonant system are studied. For the same resonance and the same planetary masses, a large value of the eccentricities may stabilize the system, even in the case where the two planetary orbits intersect. The phase of the two planets (position at perihelion or aphelion when the star and the two planets are aligned) plays an important role, and the change of the phase, other things being the same, may destabilize the system. Also, the ratio of the planetary masses, for the same total mass of the two planets, plays an important role and the system, at some resonances and some phases, is destabilized when this ratio changes.The above results are applied to the observed extrasolar planetary systems HD 82943, Gliese 876 and also to some preliminary results of HD 160691. It is shown that the observed configurations are close to stable periodic motion.  相似文献

We present an analysis of the significantly expanded HARPS 2011 radial velocity data set for GJ 581 that was presented by Forveille et al. (2011). Our analysis reaches substantially different conclusions regarding the evidence for a Super‐Earth‐mass planet in the star's Habitable Zone. We were able to reproduce their reported χ2ν and RMS values only after removing some outliers from their models and refitting the trimmed down RV set. A suite of 4000 N‐body simulations of their Keplerian model all resulted in unstable systems and revealed that their reported 3.6σ detection of e = 0.32 for the eccentricity of GJ 581e is manifestly incompatible with the system's dynamical stability. Furthermore, their Keplerian model, when integrated only over the time baseline of the observations, significantly increases the χ2ν and demonstrates the need for including non‐Keplerian orbital precession when modeling this system. We find that a four‐planet model with all of the planets on circular or nearly circular orbits provides both an excellent self‐consistent fit to their RV data and also results in a very stable configuration. The periodogram of the residuals to a 4‐planet all‐circular‐orbit model reveals significant peaks that suggest one or more additional planets in this system. We conclude that the present 240‐point HARPS data set, when analyzed in its entirety, and modeled with fully self‐consistent stable orbits, by and of itself does offer significant support for a fifth signal in the data with a period near 32 days. This signal has a false alarm probability of <4% and is consistent with a planet of minimum mass 2.2 M, orbiting squarely in the star's habitable zone at 0.13 AU, where liquid water on planetary surfaces is a distinct possibility (© 2012 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. 以南极硅藻GJ01(Berkeleya rutilans)为对象,分别采用紫外、可见和荧光分光光度法,研究了营养条件等因子对GJ01生长和胞内谷胱甘肽含量的影响,并对培养的GJ01细胞合成谷胱甘肽的条件进行了优化。结果表明,在单因子影响条件下,1.2g/L的碳酸氢钠对南极硅藻GJ01的生长最好,且最有利于谷胱甘肽的积累;0.8mmol/L氯化钙对GJ01的生长最为有利,而0.2mmol/L氯化钙对谷胱甘肽的产生是适宜的;维生素B_(12)和生物素对GJ01胞内谷胱甘肽的产生影响较小。正交试验表明,GJ01细胞产生谷胱甘肽的最优条件是:光照周期为16h/8h、NaHCO_3为1.6g/L、Ca~(2 )为0.4mmol/L、Cys为10mmol/L。该结果为利用南极硅藻GJ01生产谷胱甘肽提供了参考和依据。  相似文献

由常规枯竭型气藏改建的地下储气库仍然以气藏砂体(气砂体)为研究目标,与气藏砂体相邻的含水层(水砂体)亦能作为地下储气库的扩容空间,但这部分砂体很少被关注。板876地下储气库在储层精细描述基础上,结合气藏和气库的注采动、静态分析结果,评价了水砂体的分布范围和发育规模,利用精细地质模型计算了水砂体的总孔隙体积、未动用的及可动用的孔隙体积,应用板876地下储气库数值模拟技术对水砂体的扩容空间进行了验证,结果表明水砂体储集空间对地下储气库的扩容和运行效率具有现实意义。  相似文献
