High resolution echelle spectroscopic observations taken with the FEROS spectrograph at the 2.2 m telescope ESO confirm the binary nature of the flare M3.5V star LU Vel (GJ 375, RE J0958-462) previously reported by Christian and Mathioudakis (2002). Emission of similar intensity from both components is detected in the Balmer, Na i D1&D2, He i D3, Ca ii H&K, and Ca ii IRT lines. We have determined precise radial velocities by cross correlation with radial velocity standard stars, which have allowed us to obtain for the first time the orbital solution of the system. The binary consists of two near-equal M3.5V components with an orbital period shorter than 2 days. We have analyzed the behaviour of the chromospheric activity indicators (variability and possible flares). In addition, we have determined its rotational velocity and kinematics.  相似文献

The powerful cosmic ray flare of Sept. 29, 1989 occurred behind the limb and was observed over a wide spectral range. The analysis of optical, radio, and other relevant data suggest two phases of energy release. After an impulsive phase a prolonged post eruption energy release occurred in an extended region of the corona following the eruption of a large coronal mass ejection (CME). This phase is responsible for numerous coronal and interplanetary phenomena including the ground-level increase of cosmic rays.  相似文献

本文对第22太阳周(1987年1月至1992年12月)中发生过M级以上的X射线耀斑(Hα耀斑级别≥M级,并伴有X射线的耀斑)对应的395个活动区资料进行了耀斑指数的统计,得到的结果:1.22太阳周M级以上X射线耀斑级别综合指数表,2.22太阳周M级以上X射线耀斑总指数表,3.第22太阳周M级以上X射线耀斑总指数随时间的变化曲线,4.第22太阳周M级以上X射线濯斑总指数直方图,该图表明第22太阳周活动的极大年分别是1989和1991年,为第23周太阳活动预报提供了可用参数。  相似文献

1989年3月13日太阳耀斑事件产生了丰富的地球物理效应。耀斑激波和耀斑粒子流引起强烈地磁暴。在武昌地区,磁暴急始发生于地方时3月13日09h30min,其初相期持续10小时(3月13日09h30min-19h20min),主相期持续13小时(3月13日19h20min-3月14日08h20min),至3月16日05h20min始恢复平静(图1)。  相似文献

Before the observation of the 1974 U Ori eruption, it was considered that the Mira stars had only some regular OH variations. With this eruption, we realized that sometimes flares can occur in this type of star. In the course of an OH Mira star monitoring programme with the Nançay radio telescope, we have discovered a new eruptive type of OH maser emission in several sources. Especially, in early 1992, we observed a quickly rising 1665 Mhz emission in the Mira X Oph. The main characteristics of this flare were: large flux variations independent of the light curve; large degree of circular polarization; radial velocity emission close to the stellar velocity.  相似文献

An extensive series of incoherent scatter studies of the ionospheric D-region was carried out at the Arecibo radar facility during 1978 and 1979. They included several full-day sequences of electron density measurements over a range of altitudes, and also included a sequence during the serendipitous occurrence of a large solar flare. For the solar flare event simultaneous data on solar X-ray fluxes in several wavelength bands were available from the GOES-2 and ISEE-3 satellites. In the course of development of a large ionospheric computer model at Los Alamos we have used the solar flare data as a reality check. The solar X-ray flux data were used as inputs for computing ionization rates. The model computer includes 999 chemical reactions, and also includes diffusion and transport processes. In the course of the flare studies we used the data comparisons to adjust the values of three chemical rate coefficients that were poorly known. With those adjustments the model computations fitted the data quite well. Subsequent to the flare analysis we have been using the same model with some minor updates to compute the expected diurnal variations of the ambient D-region under conditions chosen to match those existing at the times of the incoherent scatter measurements. Comparisons of the computations and the data will be shown, and the relative importance of the several separate ionization processes will be discussed. Solar neutron events provide important opportunities to explore particle acceleration mechanisms using data from ground-based detectors and spacecrafts. Energetic neutrons carry crucial physics information of the acceleration site, such as energy spectrum, atmospheric elements of solar flare, scale height, convergence of the magnetic field and magnetohydrodynamic turbulence. Here 12 representative solar neutron events observed on the Earth, together with X and γ-ray observations from spacecrafts are presented. Theoretical approaches on solar neutrons that are carried out mainly through the Monte Carlo simulation are compared with the observation data, and the constraints of different theoretical models on the observations are to be summarized.  相似文献

Second and sub-second structures were simultaneously detected in optical, radio and hard X-ray (HXR) band, respectively by the GanYu Station of Purple Mountain Observatory, Nobeyama Radio Observatory, and RHESSI satellite in the November 1, 2004 flare (Ji et al., in Astrophys. J. 636:L173, 2006), which may be contributed to the energy transport of the continuous heat flux from the hot corona or chromosphere evaporation and of the accelerated electrons. The linear correlations between the amplitudes of these fluctuations and their flare emissions, and those between the cross-correlation coefficients of the fluctuations at two H α kernels, or two radio frequencies, or two X-ray energies and their flare emissions may support the causal relationship of the flare and these time structures. While, the cross-correlations of the fluctuations at three different bands suggest that the fluctuations are caused by the common thermal or nonthermal processes in the flare. Moreover, some new features of the fluctuations are reported in the flare: (1) The sub-second fluctuations in radio and HXR bands have a same timescale, which is evidently larger than that in H-alpha band. The difference may be explained by the downward movements of nonthermal electrons or the upward motion of chromosphere evaporation. (2) The power-law distributions of the amplitudes of the second and the sub-second structures are obtained at optical, radio and HXR bands with different indices. (3) The peak-to-peak correspondence of Stokes I and V components in the sub-second structures at radio band suggests that they may be resulted from a periodical particle acceleration and particle injection in this event. However, the second structures may be caused by the modulations of Alfvén waves with an upward speed of 103 km/s.  相似文献
