Assuming a radially stratified Newtonian mantle in a steady-state approximation, we demonstrate that the permeability of a viscosity interface at 660-km depth strongly depends on the wavelength of buoyancy forces driving the flow. The flow induced by long-wavelength loads penetrates through the boundary freely even if the viscosity increases by two orders. In contrast, the boundary is practically impermeable for short-wavelength loads located in the upper mantle. Thus, a stepwise increase of viscosity is a significant obstacle for small descending features in the upper mantle, but huge upper mantle downwellings, or upwellings formed in the-lower mantle can overcome it easily. This indicates that certain care is necessary in interpreting the seismic structure of the mantle by means of flow models. The global tomographic image includes only the first few degrees of the harmonic series and, consequently, its interpretation in terms of a present-day flow field results in a predominantly whole-mantle circulation even for extreme viscosity contrasts.  相似文献

利用华北固定台网的宽频带地震远震记录波形资料,提取P波接收函数,通过偏移成像和共转换点叠加,得到华北地区东部地幔过渡带深度及厚度的图像.研究结果显示,地幔过渡带上界面(410km间断面)深度起伏变化不大;在华北地区东部,存在较厚的地幔过渡带,地幔过渡带下界面(660km间断面)在660km深度附近出现两个不同的界面.造成地幔过渡带增厚并出现两个深度不同的界面的原因可能是存在橄榄岩以外的地幔物质相变,该物质相变拥有与橄榄岩向钙钛矿转变不同的克拉伯龙斜率,太平洋俯冲板块的低温造成两种不同的相变界面发生不同程度的改变.双重660km间断面的范围存在向北西方向延伸的趋势并且向南至少延伸到30°N.本文的结果可为古西太平洋板块向华北俯冲前缘位置的研究提供约束.  相似文献

通过分析发生在日本周边深源地震的宽频带波形资料,估计了日本列岛下的660km不连续面(d660)的深度变化。许多宽频带波形记录到了在d660顶部发生反射的sScS的后续波。sScS后续波与sScS间的到时差包含了震中与台站下方的d660深度变化的信息。我们成功地检测到这两种震相并将其分离,到目前为止还没有这方面研究的报道。我们由sScS与其后续波的到时差来求每个震中与记录台站下的d660的深度变化。研究结果显示,西部日本下的d660较深(大于660km),这可能是滞留在地幔转换带中的冷的太平洋板块造成的。在日本中部,d660变深,显然这不是太平洋板块本身造成的,因为日本中部已经位于该滞留板片的东部。日本东北部下的d660变得较浅,这可能是太平洋板片形状变化或下地幔热物质上涌形成局部热异常造成的。  相似文献

利用南、北加州地震台网、华盛顿州西北太平洋地震台网单分量短周期地震仪和德国、瑞士地震台网/台阵的三分量宽频带地震仪记录的1981~2000年伊豆——小笠原地区下方地震的波形资料,使用N次根倾斜叠加方法提取近源一侧来自间断面SdP转换震相,以研究660km间断面区域性差异.研究发现,自35N 到26N 的各剖面依次体现了和达 本尼奥夫带(Wadati-Benioff zone)倾角逐渐加大,且地震分布的最大深度也逐步增大,俯冲板块对660km间断面存在的影响也因此产生了差异性:没有俯冲板块影响的情况下,该间断面出现在CM)660km深度处,而受到俯冲板块明显作用的地区,则该间断面普遍出现下陷.转换点分布的一定程度分散性可能是间断面本身复杂结构、震相误判或一维球对称地球模型假定等因素造成的.这一转换点分布的分散性是一个亟需解决的问题.   相似文献

We have used the Very Large Array (VLA) to search for the H92α radio recombination line (RRL) in four starburst galaxies. In NGC 660, the line was detected over a 17Å‐8 arcsec2 region near its starburst nucleus. The line and continuum emission indicate that the RRL-emitting gas is most likely in the form of a cluster of H ii regions with a small filling factor. Using a simple model we find that the total ionized mass in the nuclear region is in the range 2–8Å‐104 M⊙ and the rate of production of UV photons N Lyc∼1–3Å‐1053 s−1. The ratio of H92α and Brγ line intensities in NGC 660 indicates that extinction is significant even at λ=2 μm. The velocity field of the ionized gas is consistent with a rotating disc with an average velocity gradient of ∼15 km s−1 arcsec−1. The dynamical mass within the central 500 pc is ∼4Å‐108 M⊙ and may be about ∼6Å‐107 M⊙ within the central 120 pc. No line was detected in the other galaxies (NGC 520, NGC 1614 and NGC 6946) to a 3σ limit of 300 μJy. In the starburst galaxies in which RRLs have been detected, we find that there is a rough correlation between the integrated H92α line flux density and both the total far-infrared flux density and the radio continuum emission from the central region.  相似文献

利用海南、广东及广西区域台网和国家台网共88个宽频带地震台站记录的2007年8月至2010年3月75个远震事件波形资料,采用接收函数共面元叠加的方法,得到了海南及其邻区上地幔410 km和660 km间断面结构和转换带厚度.结果表明,研究区410 km间断面形态较复杂,局部下沉到447 km,而660 km间断面相对简单,其深度分布在670 km左右.海南岛东北部存在一个直径约200 km的转换带异常薄的区域,其厚度较全球平均值薄25±5 km,相当于转换带中存在约180℃的高温异常,转换带厚度局部偏薄暗示海南地幔柱可能起源于下地幔.  相似文献

The pressure-volume-temperature equation of state (EOS) of gold is fundamental to high-pressure science because of its widespread use as an internal pressure standard. In particular, the EOS of gold has been used in recent in situ multi-anvil press studies for determination of phase boundaries related to the 660-km seismic discontinuity. These studies show that the boundaries are lower by 2 GPa than expected from the depth of the 660-km discontinuity. Here we report a new P-V-T EOS of gold based on the inversion of quasi-hydrostatic compression and shock wave data using the Mie-Grüneisen relation and the Birch-Murnaghan-Debye equation. The previously poorly constrained pressure derivative of isothermal bulk modulus and the volume dependence of Grüneisen parameter (q=d lnγ/d ln V) are determined by including both phonon and electron effects implicitly: K0T=5.0±0.2 and q=1.0±0.1. This combined with other accurately measured parameters enables us to calculate pressure at a given volume and temperature. At 660-km depth conditions, this new EOS yields 1.0±0.2 GPa higher pressure than Anderson et al.’s EOS which has been used in the multi-anvil experiments. However, after the correction, there still exists a 1.5-GPa discrepancy between the post-spinel boundary measured by multi-anvil studies and the 660-km discontinuity. Other potential error sources, such as thermocouple emf dependence on pressure or systematic errors in spectroradiometry, should be investigated. Theoretical and experimental studies to better understand electronic and anharmonic effects in gold at high P-T are also needed.  相似文献

本文利用宽频流动台阵记录的远震波形资料和接收函数波动方程叠后偏移方法,获得了华北克拉通东北部边界及其邻近地区的地壳和地幔转换带的间断面结构图像.结果显示研究区域的地壳厚度存在显著的横向变化:以南北重力梯度带为界,西北部的兴蒙造山带地壳较厚(~40 km),东南部的燕山带、松辽盆地和辽东台隆地壳明显较薄(30~35 km).这有可能反映,研究区南北重力梯度带两侧地壳在中-新生代区域构造伸展过程中经历了不同程度的改造和减薄.地幔转换带成像结果显示,研究区410 km和660 km间断面结构存在横向差异.经度121°E-122°E之间,上地幔底部出现双重间断面,深度分别为660 km和690 km.经度122.5°E以东(北黄海地区),410 km间断面有5~20 km幅度的下沉,660 km间断面有5~15 km幅度的抬升;该地区地幔转换带厚度相对全球平均偏薄10~20 km,指示着该地区较热的上地幔底部温度环境.我们认为太平洋俯冲板块可能停滞在研究区119°E-122°E经度范围的地幔转换带中,但未延伸至118°E以西;而俯冲板块在124°E以东可能局部穿透了上地幔底部而进入下地幔,同时引起小尺度的地幔对流,导致北黄海地区下地幔物质的上涌.  相似文献
