With the increasing demands for geospatial analytics in industry and academia, the need for Geographic Information Systems/Science (GIS) education is on the rise. A growing number of departments in geography have launched or expanded their GIS graduate programs. However, the factors influencing students choosing GIS programs have not been examined yet. In this study, we looked at Chinese students applying for overseas GIS programs and examined factors influencing their decision-making. We distributed the survey in GISphere, one of the largest GIS international student communities, and 84 valid questionnaires were returned. We analyzed the spatial and demographic patterns of Chinese students applying for overseas GIS programs. We identify five main factors that affect their choices of GIS programs: (1) education quality and awareness, (2) physical, social, and political environments, (3) improved employment prospects, (4) personal recommendations, and (5) the application process. Our study offers implications for the development of GIS graduate programs. We anticipate that the conclusions drawn from this research will benefit and advance geography and GIS education globally.  相似文献

Yinchuan Basin, a semi‐arid area located in Northwest China, is currently subject to increasing pressure from the altered hydrology due to the anthropogenic activities as well as increasing water demands for regional development. Sustainable water management across the region must be underpinned by a clear understanding of the factors that constrain water supply in this area. We measured the stable isotope of oxygen and hydrogen to determine the likely processes that control the interrelations among precipitation, surface water (Yellow River), and groundwater. The hydrogen and oxygen values demonstrate that 2 primary hydrochemical processes, mixing and evaporation/condensation, occurred in the Basin. Recharge proportions of precipitation and Yellow River were quantitatively evaluated based on the isotope mass balance method. The proportions of the Yellow River and atmospheric precipitation recharge are 87.7% and 12.3%, respectively. The evaporation proportions calculated with 18O and D by Rayleigh fractional equation are close to each other, which demonstrate that evaporation intensity increases following the flow direction of the Yellow River. The findings obtained in this study are useful for recognizing the significance of Yellow River to Yinchuan Basin, and some optimal allocation schemes can be adopted for a prospective development of this reputed area in Northwest China.  相似文献

随着城市更新的开展,市民在项目推进中的空间感知及参与程度日渐成为学者和城市管理实践者关注的话题。在此背景下,本研究以更新项目实施阶段的广州市荔湾区的广钢新城为案例,通过遥感影像提取的绿地变化强度并结合深度访谈,试图探索广钢新城绿地建设的公众参与状况。研究发现:(1)广钢新城的绿地面积增加,空间可达性明显提升,然而与新进入居民的绿地空间感知没有呈现正相关联系;(2)随着更新项目的建设与空间主体的流变,建成区出现新的主体进入,而更新规划阶段主要以原有主体的意见开展,新旧主体公众参与程度参差不齐,从而造成空间使用的失序;(3)主体的变化是城市更新过程中应关注的动态要素,不同主体空间感知需要在社区治理过程中获得关注。本研究结合遥感及地理信息系统技术,以绿地效益的感知作为切入点探讨社区治理,以期为城市更新建设阶段的公众参与及协作范式提供一定的参考。  相似文献

为探究重污染底泥对沉水植物繁殖体萌发和幼苗生长影响,以苦草(Vallisneria natans)种子和黑藻(Hydrilla verticillata)冬芽为研究对象,以轻污染底泥为对照组,通过室内模拟实验研究了重污染底泥对两种繁殖体萌发和幼苗生长、生理特性的影响。实验结果表明,与轻污染底泥相比,重污染底泥对苦草种子萌发和幼苗生长无显著影响。黑藻冬芽萌发和幼苗地上部生物量在两组间没有显著差异,但重污染底泥组幼苗的地下部生物量显著高于轻污染底泥组,其地上部和地下部生物量比值由7.06±0.38下降至2.97±0.08。此外,苦草和黑藻幼苗受到重污染底泥胁迫表现出不同的生理响应。苦草幼苗叶片的类胡萝卜素含量显著减少,可溶性糖和蛋白含量分别降低11.56%、24.10%,根系活力也明显受到抑制,仅为(34.93±3.28) mg/(g·h);黑藻幼苗生理响应与苦草略有不同,其叶片的叶绿素a、b含量显著增加,根系活力降低44.29%,可溶性糖和蛋白含量在轻污染组和重污染组之间无显著差异。由此可见,重污染底泥对苦草种子和黑藻冬芽的萌发影响不显著,但会明显影响幼苗的生长发育和生理特性,研究结果为...  相似文献

Cottonseed meal (CM) was used at up to 36.95% content in the diet (replacing 60% of dietary fish meal protein) without any negative eff ects on growth performance of pre-adult grass carp (initial body weight, 761 g) under outdoor conditions. A culture trial was conducted in net cages installed in a large concrete pond. Seven isonitrogenous and isoenergetic diets containing a gradient of CM concentrations (0, 12.2%, 24.4%, 36.6%, 48.8%, 54.8%, and 61.0%) as replacement for dietary fish meal protein (0, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 90%, and 100%) were formulated. Dietary non-resistant starch (from maize) was inverse to dietary CM. Growth performance and feed utilization of fish fed the diets containing CM replacing 0–40% fishmeal protein were not aff ected after the 6-week feeding trial. Accumulation of hepatopancreatic total gossypol in the hepatopancreas was significantly correlated with free gossypol content in the diets (HTG=88.6+1.5×DFG, R 2=0.89, P<0.05). Intestinal α-amylase and γ-glutamyl transpeptidase activities rose along with increasing dietary CM level. The structure of the mid-intestinal tissues and the ultrastructure of the enterocyte microvilli were normal when dietary CM was <36.6% (60% protein replacement). Increasing dietary CM content increased serum alanine aminotransferase levels but decreased serum alkaline phosphatase, cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides, and albumin (P<0.05).  相似文献
