This study evaluates the impact of different chemical and meteorological boundary and initial conditions on the state-of-the-art Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model with its chemistry extension (WRF-Chem). The evaluation is done for July 2005 with 50 km horizontal resolution. The effect of monthly mean chemical boundary conditions derived from the chemical transport model LMDZ-INCA on WRF-Chem is evaluated against the effect of the preset idealized profiles. Likewise, the impact of different meteorological initial and boundary conditions (GFS and Reanalysis II) on the model is evaluated. Pearson correlation coefficient between these different runs range from 0.96 to 1.00. Exceptions exists for chemical boundary conditions on ozone and for meteorological boundary conditions on PM10, where coefficients of 0.90 were obtained. Best results were achieved with boundary and initial conditions from LMDZ-INCA and GFS. Overall, the European simulations show encouraging results for observed air pollutant, with ozone being the most and PM10 being the least satisfying.  相似文献

The parameterization of surface heat-flux variability in urban areas relies on adequate representation of surface characteristics. Given the horizontal resolutions (e.g. $\approx $ 0.1–1 km) currently used in numerical weather prediction (NWP) models, properties of the urban surface (e.g. vegetated/built surfaces, street-canyon geometries) often have large spatial variability. Here, a new approach based on Urban Zones to characterize Energy partitioning (UZE) is tested within a NWP model (Weather Research and Forecasting model; WRF v3.2.1) for Greater London. The urban land-surface scheme is the Noah/Single-Layer Urban Canopy Model (SLUCM). Detailed surface information (horizontal resolution 1 km) in central London shows that the UZE offers better characterization of surface properties and their variability compared to default WRF-SLUCM input parameters. In situ observations of the surface energy fluxes and near-surface meteorological variables are used to select the radiation and turbulence parameterization schemes and to evaluate the land-surface scheme and choice of surface parameters. For radiative fluxes, improved performance (e.g. $>$ 25 W m $^{-2}$ root-mean-square error reduction for the net radiation) is attained with UZE parameters compared to the WRF v3.2.1 default for all three methods from the simplest to the most detailed. The UZE-based spatial fluxes reproduce a priori expectations of greater energy storage and less evaporation in the dense city centre compared to the residential surroundings. Problems in Noah/SLUCM partitioning of energy between the daytime turbulent fluxes are identified with the overestimation of the turbulent sensible heat and underestimation of the turbulent latent heat fluxes.  相似文献

This paper focuses on some aspects of the motion of a small particle moving near the Lagrangian points of the Earth–Moon system. The model for the motion of the particle is the so-called bicircular problem (BCP), that includes the effect of Earth and Moon as in the spatial restricted three body problem (RTBP), plus the effect of the Sun as a periodic time-dependent perturbation of the RTBP. Due to this periodic forcing coming from the Sun, the Lagrangian points are no longer equilibrium solutions for the BCP. On the other hand, the BCP has three periodic orbits (with the same period as the forcing) that can be seen as the dynamical equivalent of the Lagrangian points. In this work, we first discuss some numerical methods for the accurate computation of quasi-periodic solutions, and then we apply them to the BCP to obtain families of 2-D tori in an extended neighbourhood of the Lagrangian points. These families start on the three periodic orbits mentioned above and they are continued in the vertical (z and ż) direction up to a high distance. These (Cantor) families can be seen as the continuation, into the BCP, of the Lyapunov family of periodic orbits of the Lagrangian points that goes in the (z, ż) direction. These results are used in a forthcoming work [9] to find regions where trajectories remain confined for a very long time. It is remarkable that these regions seem to persist in the real system. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Consider the Earth-Moon-particle system as a Restricted Three Body Problem. There are two equilateral libration points. In the actual world system, those points are no longer relative equilibrium points mainly due to the effect of the Sun and to the noncircular motion of the Moon around the Earth. In this paper we present the problem as a perturbation of the RTBP and we look for the dynamical equivalent of L 4,5. It turns out to be a quasiperiodic orbit. It is obtained for a simplified model but the procedure to obtain it is general and can be carried out with an additional computational effort.  相似文献

Solar sails are a proposed form of spacecraft propulsion using large membrane mirrors to propel a satellite taking advantage of the solar radiation pressure. To model the dynamics of a solar sail we have considered the Earth–Sun Restricted Three Body Problem including the Solar radiation pressure (RTBPS). This model has a 2D surface of equilibrium points parametrised by the two angles that define the sail orientation. In this paper we study the non-linear dynamics close to an equilibrium point, with special interest in the bounded motion. We focus on the region of equilibria close to SL 1, a collinear equilibrium point that lies between the Earth and the Sun when the sail is perpendicular to the Sun–sail direction. For different fixed sail orientations we find families of planar, vertical and Halo-type orbits. We have also computed the centre manifold around different equilibria and used it to describe the quasi-periodic motion around them. We also show how the geometry of the phase space varies with the sail orientation. These kind of studies can be very useful for future mission applications.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to study a transfer strategy from the vicinity of the Earth to a halo orbit around the equilibrium pointL 1 of the Earth-Sun system. The study is done in the real solar system (we use the DE-118 JPL ephemeris in the simulations of motion) although some simplified models, such as the restricted three body problem (RTBP) and the bicircular problem, have been also used in order to clarify the geometrical aspects of the problem. The approach used in the paper makes use of the hyperbolic character of the halo orbits under consideration. The invariant stable manifold of these orbits enables the transfer to be achieved with, theoretically, only one manoeuvre: the one of insertion into the stable manifold. For the total v required, the figures obtained are similar to the ones given by the standard procedures of optimization.  相似文献
