The longitudinal strength of the high-speed ferry was investigated by subjecting the ship's hull girder to long-term loads obtained from a frequency-domain panel code. Prior to the statistical analysis, linearly computed transfer functions were corrected for nonlinear effects, yielding two sets of transfer functions valid for different wave amplitudes. One set corresponded to the hogging condition; the other set, to the sagging condition. Two regular equivalent design waves were specified that resulted in loads representing the most severe global design load conditions. The still-water loading condition, yielding a still-water vertical bending moment in hogging, was superimposed on the wave-induced loads to obtain the total (design) loads in hogging. For the sagging condition only, additional impact-related loads were superimposed to obtain the total (design) loads in sagging. A finite element model of the ship's structure was subjected to pressure distributions according to the two regular design waves. For comparison with classification society rule values, a simple beam theory strength analysis of the ship's midship section was performed first, and then another finite element analysis was carried out, whereby the imposed loads were tuned to the rule values of vertical bending moments. Rule-based magnitudes of nominal maximum longitudinal stress deviated significantly (25–39%) from comparable stresses obtained by the panel code based finite element analysis. However, stresses obtained from the rule-based finite element analysis agreed more favorably, especially in hogging. In the uppermost deck, for example, the panel code based compressive stress was only 9% larger than the comparable stress from the rule-based finite element analysis.  相似文献

Low-frequency damping of a moored semisubmersible drilling platform was obtained from numerical extinction tests simulated in still water and in regular waves and from mean wave drift forces calculated at zero forward speed. The influence of drag forces was represented by the modified Morison equation. The platform as used for the 18th ITTC Comparative Mooring Study was analyzed in irregular beam waves. The computed time series of sway as well as the corresponding sway response spectrum compared favourably with model test measurements, demonstrating that this procedure to determine low-frequency damping can be effective.  相似文献

Two samples of plant-rich limy sand collected from the 9- and 11-ft.-level of the Heron Island cay were subjected to 14C dating. Uncertainties related to secondary changes and contaminations, and the unknown transportation history of the woody material prior to accumulation at Heron Island, in combination with the relatively young age of the carbon, did not result in 14C values useful for correlation and absolute dating purposes.  相似文献

The evaluation of ·risk’ is based on long-term cumulative distributions of such design parameters which influence the seaworthiness of offshore structures. It is shown how risk distribution functions can be derived from cumulative distribution functions and how safe design values are defined with regard to specified risk levels. The examples given include two most modern designs which have already obtained a quality assurance at Germanischer Lloyd: a semi-submersible LNG-liquefaction platform with a built-in concrete LNG-tank and a semi-submersible drilling platform. Special attention is given to the question of reasonable platform clearance above still water level as specified by the Classification Societies, as well as to the definition of safe design values of loads which occur independently but have to be combined in a structural analysis. Finally, safety factors are critically examined in light of risk analysis and a basic design principle is suggested.  相似文献
