Two samples of plant-rich limy sand collected from the 9- and 11-ft.-level of the Heron Island cay were subjected to 14C dating. Uncertainties related to secondary changes and contaminations, and the unknown transportation history of the woody material prior to accumulation at Heron Island, in combination with the relatively young age of the carbon, did not result in 14C values useful for correlation and absolute dating purposes.  相似文献

Mining influenced water (MIW) is often characterized by low pH (acid mine drainage) and high dissolved metal concentrations. Treatment of MIW is often required to mitigate these two characteristics. One option, which has traditionally been used only for pH neutralization, is limestone based treatment systems. However, there is field evidence that limestone systems are also effective at removing metals such as Zn and Ni. These field systems are often too complex to examine specific removal hypotheses, while certain modes of laboratory examination are too simplistic to be applied to field settings. Instead, the batch reactors used here were intentionally more complex to allow for the examination of how certain variables (pH, alkalinity, and primary metal concentrations) interact to affect Zn and Ni removal. The data herein suggest that one possible removal process for Zn and Ni is through surface interactions on the precipitated primary metals Fe and Al. The specific processes are complex and conditional, and were found to depend on pH, alkalinity, and total amount of primary metal present. Indeed the complex interplay between these variables led to an observed local maximum in Zn removal that would not be predicted from traditional surface complexation theory or observed from simpler experimental systems.  相似文献

遥感数据是目前常用的空间数据,管理和查看遥感数据是各类地理信息系统的核心功能之一.其中,通过列表实现数据的分组管理以及通过时间轴实现数据的多时相展示是该类系统重要的遥感数据管理和查看方法.同时,通过浏览器对大量数据进行管理,会出现页面卡顿的现象.而通过多次执行JavaScript来修改DOM,是造成浏览器渲染速度慢、页面卡顿的重要原因.本文通过Vue.js框架中的虚拟DOM技术,有效地减少了对空间数据列表的DOM操作.并通过对比实验,说明了当需要发生大量DOM操作时,Vue.js框架具有更快的渲染速度,进而有效地解决了页面的卡顿问题.  相似文献

Declines in the abundance of bottlenose dolphins in the Bay of Islands and in Doubtful Sound have contributed to the species being classified as Nationally Endangered in New Zealand waters. Updated information on distribution and abundance nationwide is therefore a high priority. This study presents data from the first photo-identification surveys of Paterson Inlet, Stewart Island, conducted to document bottlenose dolphin presence, abundance and residency. Open-population mark-recapture models indicate that 18 (95%CI = 15–20) dolphins regularly use Paterson Inlet. Photo-identification of dolphins from unknown populations during two chance encounters in Otago Harbour and Dusky Sound included 11 individuals previously identified at Stewart Island. These results indicate that dolphins found regularly at Stewart Island are part of a larger, wide ranging southern population with a minimum population abundance of 92 (95%CI = 80–111) individuals.  相似文献

Thirty-six samples of well-preserved Precambrian sedimentary rocks have been analyzed for rare-earth elements (REE) as one test of the proposition that the present relative REE abundances at the Earth's surface have developed gradually with time. Except for Eu, the average relative abundances of the REE appear to be the same for the Precambrian sediments as in a composite of Paleozoic shales (taken as representative of younger sedimentary rocks). Abundances of Eu relative to the other REE in all except two of the Precambrian sedimente are significantly higher than in the younger sediments. The extent of enrichment of the Precambrian sediments in Eu over the composite of younger sediments ranges from 0.7 to 3.0. The average abundance of Eu relative to the other REE for all the Precambrian sedimente is the same as that in chondritic meteorites. Several of the oldest Precambrian sedimente have relative abundances of Eu that exceed that of chondrites. Large-scale separations of Eu from the other REE as a result of igneous, metamorphic, or sedimentary processes are considered. Present information does not convincingly support any of the proposed mechanisms.  相似文献
