A procedure is proposed for the reconfiguration of the macroseismic planes relative to earthquakes that, being characterized by a reduced number of points of observed intensity due to a lack of information, or having the epicenter very close to the coastline, are characterized by an incomplete distribution of observed intensity levels. The design of a plurality of virtual areas, through which a distribution of intensity consistent with an anisotropic model of attenuation is depicted, allows a reliable determination of macroseismic parameters of the same seismic event. 相似文献

A modelling of the observed macroseismic intensity of historical and instrumental earthquakes in southern Spain is proposed, with the aim of determining the macroseismic parameters for seismic hazard evaluation in a region in which the characterization of intensity distribution of seismic events shows different levels of difficulty referable to the complex faults system of the area in study. The adopted procedure allows an analytical determination of epicenters and principal attenuation directions of earthquakes with a double level of verification with reference to the maximum shaking area and structural lineaments of the region, respectively. The analyses, carried out on a suitable number of events, highlight, therefore, some elements for a preliminary characterization of a seismic zonation on the basis of the consistency between seismic intensity distribution of earthquakes and corresponding structural framework. 相似文献

Seismic hazard evaluation is proposed by a methodological approach that allows thestudy of the influence of different modelling assumptions relative to the spatial andtemporal distribution of earthquakes on the maximum values of expected intensities. In particular, we show that the estimated hazard at a fixed point is very sensitive tothe assumed spatial distribution of epicentres and their estimators. As we will see, theusual approach, based on uniformly distributing the epicentres inside each seismogeniczone is likely to be biased towards lower expected intensity values. This will be mademore precise later. Recall that the term ``bias' means, that the expectation of theestimated quantity (taken as a random variable on the space of statistics) is differentfrom the expectation of the quantity itself. Instead, our approach, based on an estimatorthat takes into account the observed clustering of events is essentially unbiased, as shownby a Monte-Carlo simulation, and is configured on a 11011-isotropic macroseismicattenuation model which is independently estimated for each zone. 相似文献

In this paper a characterization of seismic site response is proposed, taking into consideration geo-morphological conditions, geotechnical and geophysical parameters such as slope, average shear-wave velocity, maximum expected acceleration on bedrock, depth of ground water table. An empirical relationship is presented between these parameters and applied, with the objective of determining ground motion amplification coefficients to be used in specific programs of land use or town planning dedicated to the mitigation of seismic risk. 相似文献

For the seismic hazard evaluation of the region including the southern Calabro-Peloritanian Arc and southeastern Sicily, the determination of the macroseismic virtual intensity distributions has been carried out, characteristic of the seismogenic zones that fall within the area in study, starting with the structural framework of the region and from the analysis of the observed intensity effected through suitable filters. The macroseismic parameters, derived from such virtual distributions and used for seismic hazard evaluation, are not only a reference for eventual subsequently deeper knowledge referable to the need for a better characterization of the reference modelling, but distinguish themselves as an essential instrument for the definition of seismic hazard scenarios correlated to seismic events that take place in single seismogenic zones. 相似文献

Vegetation uprooting is a complex process which depends on many interrelated factors. In this paper, attention is focused on the flow-induced uprooting in river bends, where the flow characteristics vary as effected by the channel’s curvature and its continuous changing in the downstream direction. Results are presented by an experimental work done in a high-amplitude meandering flume with mature herbaceous vegetation on the bed. In the first part of the paper, the variation along the bend of the... 相似文献

--A study of the intensity distribution of the earthquake of December 5th 1456, which affected a large area of central and southern Italy was carried out, verifying, through a recently proposed methodology, the two hypotheses assumed by different authors for one single seismic event and three distinct and close ones. This methodology is based on a vectorial modelling of the macroseismic intensity distribution which aims at determining the epicentre and the principal (minimum and maximum) attenuation directions.¶The study was structured, considering each of the two assumed hypotheses, in a set of tests obtained for the macroseismic field and the intensity map, by analysing different configurations of the observed intensity distribution.¶The results obtained are in agreement with the hypothesis of the time coexistence of three distinct seismic events, for which the calculated epicentres and the principal attenuation directions are compatible with the observed intensity distribution and with the tectonic trend of the Apennine region, respectively. 相似文献

Macro‐ and meso‐scale structural criteria for identifying pre‐thrusting normal faults within foreland fold‐and‐thrust belts: Insights from the Central‐Northern Apennines (Italy) 下载免费PDF全文
Reliable macro‐ and meso‐scale structural criteria for identifying pre‐thrusting normal faults within inversion‐dominated foreland thrust belts are here reappraised by showing field cases from the Central‐Northern Apennines of Italy. Field‐based analyses of relative chronologies among the structures allow determination of the timing of pre‐thrusting normal faulting, the positive inversion of the faults and their post‐thrusting reactivation when absolute chronostratigraphic constraints are lacking. The correct identification of pre‐thrusting normal faults allows recognition of shortcut and reactivation anticlines, and these have important implications for the definition of the thrust‐belt structural style and for the estimation of post‐orogenic extension. 相似文献

A vectorial modelling of observed macroseismic intensity aimed at the analytical determination of the epicentre is proposed here. The methodology is based on the determination of a plane system of vectors which characterises the macroseismic intensity distribution. The epicentre of each seismic event considered is determined as the centre of this vector system by an analytical expression which is independent from all possible directions of seismic energy propagation. The analysis of the intensity distribution is carried out by a new model called a macroseismic plane, different from the one known as macroseismic field, formed by a set of small areas built around the observed intensity points; hence its name. With the proposed methodology, some earthquakes in southern Italy and eastern Sicily are analysed calculating their epicentres, also for distributions of observed intensity which are particularly complex. 相似文献
