Cheapest and simplest techniques of filtration systems are required for rural water treatment in developing countries. Using a filter made of blocks for the water treatment enables us to make porous concrete filter and use it vertically. It is expected that the required area would decrease by more than 70 % if porous concrete filters were used vertically. The operation and backwash mode would be simpler than using horizontal sand filters as filters made of blocks would be used instead. The feasibility study focused on finding adequate materials, compositions and methods of making a block with enough resistance to water pressure, sufficient porosity for water transformation and using inexpensive and available materials. A pilot study was performed to determine an appropriate thickness of filter. Testing the porous filter in another pilot study using the low overflow rate of river water showed biological growth in that media and an adequate efficiency of about 90–100 % was obtained for decreasing the coliform bacteria. The required backwash water was 2.9 % of total treated water. 相似文献

Receiver functions are widely employed to detect P-to-S converted waves and are especially useful to image seismic discontinuities
in the crust. In this study we used the P receiver function technique to investigate the velocity structure of the crust beneath
the Northwest Zagros and Central Iran and map out the lateral variation of the Moho boundary within this area. Our dataset
includes teleseismic data (M
b ≥ 5.5, epicentral distance from 30° to 95°) recorded at 12 three-component short-period stations of Kermanshah, Isfahan and
Yazd telemetry seismic networks. Our results obtained from P receiver functions indicate clear Ps conversions at the Moho
boundary. The Moho depths were firstly estimated from the delay time of the Moho converted phase relative to the direct P
wave beneath each network. Then, we used the P receiver function inversion to find the properties of the Moho discontinuity
such as depth and velocity contrast. Our results obtained from PRF are in good agreement with those obtained from the P receiver
function modeling. We found an average Moho depth of about 42 km beneath the Northwest Zagros increasing toward the Sanandaj-Sirjan
Metamorphic Zone and reaches 51 km, where two crusts (Zagros and Central Iran) are assumed to be superposed. The Moho depth
decreases toward the Urmieh-Dokhtar Cenozoic volcanic belt and reaches 43 km beneath this area. We found a relatively flat
Moho beneath the Central Iran where, the average crustal thickness is about 42 km. Our P receiver function modeling revealed
a shear wave velocity of 3.6 km/s in the crust of Northwest Zagros and Central Iran increasing to 4.5 km/s beneath the Moho
boundary. The average shear wave velocity in the crust of UDMA as SSZ is 3.6 km/s, which reaches to 4.0 km/s while in SSZ
increases to 4.3 km/s beneath the Moho. 相似文献

The fact of, present is the key of the past, will help us to use paleosols properties as indicators of the ecological characteristics of past .time, particularly the paleoclimate. In this respect the micro- morphological properties showed to be a very good indicator. Therefore, for investigating of climate change in Ardakan-Yazd plain, Central Iran 9 pedons were digged and described. Yazd has an arid climate with less than 100 mm annual precipitation and more than 22℃ mean annual temperature (Aridic-hyper thermic soil moisture and temperature regions, respectively). Based on the morphological and physicochemical analysis Arglic, Calcic and Gypsic diagnostic horizons have been distinguished in these soils. Thin section studied showed that the illuviated form of clay includes, infillings on channel, coating on pendant, on nodules and on grains, at lower depths and also juxtaposed calcite needles on void argillan at upper part of the profiles. Mineralogical result showed fine clay in arglic horizon, too. Considering depth and forms of these pedofeatures, we concluded that, the observed illuviated clays at lower depth must be the result of the more humid climate of the past, where the carbonates have been removed completely as pendant, nodules or coating to considerable depth, following processes, clay has been dispersed and also trans located to these depths. In contrast to these features, the juxtaposed needle calcite at the shallower depth is probably the result of drier climate of today. 相似文献

The objective of this paper is to derive and analyze the present and future climate projections over the region of wheat production over Iran. In addition, the projected future climate fluctuation results will be used to assist the maximum performance of wheat and to be used as the main basis for planning changes in the farming calendar in Iran. Observed climate (temperature and degree day) changes during the period (1951–2009) will be discussed. Projected future changes up to 2100 based on the MAGICC/SCENGEN 5.3 compound model was utilized. Furthermore, 18 scenarios were used to derive a single GCM model referred to as the United Kingdom Hadley Center Global Environment Model, which will be used to select the worst, best, and average scenario. 相似文献
