A problem of orbital dynamics,which is separable in KS-variables

The motion of a rocket (with constant thrust) in the gravitational field of a mass point is studied. As is well known, the two dimensional version of this problem is separable in Levi-Civitavariables. It is shown here that, for the three dimensional case, the KS-variables produce the separability. A closed solution is found by using elliptic functions. Equivalent problems are mentioned.     

Towards a rigorous justification of the Stiefel-Baumgarte stabilization method

The purpose of the present paper is to continue the work on the mathematical justification of the Baumgarte dissipative stabilization procedure. Using ideas reminiscent of the theory of invariant manifolds, geometrical results and error bounds are obtained.Proceedings of the Sixth Conference on Mathematical Methods in Celestial Mechanics held at Oberwolfach (West Germany) from 14 to 19 August, 1978.     

A procedure to compute level lines

The transformational behaviour of perturbation theories

The transformational behaviour of Hori's noncanonical perturbation theory (Hori 1971) as well as that of the theory of Krylov-Bogoliubof-Mitropolsky is studied. An integration procedure of the perturbation equations is based on the transformation properties that have been established.
