The Sekanina-Farrell particle fragmentation model for the striated tails of dust comets is successfully applied to two images of comet Hale-Bopp to study the motions of 12 striae in a time span of March 12–15, 1997. There is evidence for recurring outbursts with a periodicity of 11h21m, consistent with results based on analysis of dust jets. The ejecta in all the striae appear to have been released from one source on the nucleus between the end of January and the second half of February 1997, some 60 to 40 days before perihelion. The parent particles were subjected to a radiation pressure acceleration of βp ≃ 0.55 and their fragmentation lifetimes in 11 of the 12 striae were practically constant and equal to 13–15 days, when normalized to 1 AU from the Sun. Brief analysis of Watanabe et al.'s measurements of striae on their images from March 5–9, 1997 shows even shorter fragmentation lifetimes for the parent particles, mostly about 7–11 days at1 AU. We discuss here the spectroscopic properties of the Seyfert 2 galaxy NGC 7130 (= IC 5135). Emission line regions were isolated and line ratios were measured and fitted with photoionization models; this allowed to discriminate between thermal and non thermal ionization in the circumnuclear regions. Massive star formation is likely to occur at projected distances from the nucleus ≫ 2 kpc: line profiles in these regions suggest the presence of outflows of gas due to stellar winds from hot massive stars.  相似文献

BVRI photometry of 107 TNOs and Centaurs establishes the range of spectral gradients to be between –5 to 55%/100 nm (with one exception). A cluster of very red Cubewanos is firmly identified in orbits of low inclination and eccentricity beyond 40 AU from the Sun. Further correlations between surface colours and dynamical parameters (inclination and perihelion distance) are suggested for Cubewanos and scattered disk objects, but lack complete confidence for their reality. Plutinos and Centaurs do not show any clear correlation between surface colours and orbital parameters. We present in this paper 12 spectra obtained in the visible region and nine of them for which we obtained also near infrared spectra up to 2.4 microns. A few other objects have been observed, but the data are still under reduction and analysis. The principal reported results obtained are: (i) a wide range of visible slopes; (ii) evidence for surface variations on 2001 PT13; and (iii) possible detection of few percent of water ice (1999 TC36}, 2000 EB173, 1999 DE9, 2001 PT13, 2000 QC243, 1998 SG35).  相似文献

The chemical and isotopic characterization of formation water from 18 oil production wells, extracted from 5200 to 6100 m b.s.l. at the Jujo–Tecominoacán carbonate reservoir in SE-Mexico, and interpretations of historical production records, were undertaken to determine the origin and hydraulic behavior of deep groundwater systems. The infiltration of surface water during Late Pleistocene to Early Holocene time is suggested by 14C-concentrations from 2.15 to 31.86 pmC, and by 87Sr/86Sr-ratios for high-salinity formation water (0.70923–0.70927) that are close to the composition of Holocene to modern seawater. Prior to infiltration, the super-evaporation of seawater reached maximum TDS concentrations of 385 g/L, with lowest δ18O values characterizing the most hypersaline samples. Minor deviations of formation water and dolomite host rocks from modern and Jurassic 87Sr/86Sr-seawater composition, respectively, suggest ongoing water–rock interaction, and partial isotopic equilibration between both phases. The abundance of 14C in all sampled formation water, 87Sr/86Sr-ratios for high-salinity water close to Holocene – present seawater composition, a water salinity distribution that is independent of historic water-cut, and a total water extraction volume of 2.037 MMm3 (1/83–4/07) excludes a connate, oil-leg origin for the produced water of the Jurassic–Cretaceous mudstone-dolomite sequence. Temporal fluctuations of water chemistry in production intervals, the accelerated migration of water fronts from the reservoir flanks, and isotopic mixing trends between sampled wells confirms the existence of free aquifer water below oil horizons. Vertical and lateral hydraulic mobility has probably been accelerated by petroleum extraction.  相似文献

CCD images of comet P/Swift-Tuttle, obtained in April 1994 with the 2.2m telescope at ESO La Silla/Chile, showed a comaless stellar nucleus. From absolute photometry we estimated the equivalent radius of the cometary nucleus to be about 11 km (assuming an albedo of 0.04 as for P/Halley) for two rotation phase angles which differ by about 75 deg. From that we conclude that the nucleus is either of rather spherical shape or that the viewing geometry was almost pole-on during our observations.An analysis of the plasma tail and inner coma of the comet by means of photographic plates and CCD images through IHW and BVR filters, obtained with the 80cm Schmidt camera and the 1.2m telescope at Calar Alto/Spain in November 1992, revealed several tail rays, head streamers and substructures in brightness excess areas in the coma. While some of the tail rays extended to several million km nuclear distance, most of them can be traced to starting points which lie in a region just 20000–35000 km projected distance tailward from the nucleus.  相似文献

The origin and evolution of formation water from Upper Jurassic to Upper Cretaceous mudstone–packstone–dolomite host rocks at the Jujo–Tecominoacán oil reservoir, located onshore in SE-Mexico at a depth from 5200 to 6200 m.b.s.l., have been investigated, using detailed water geochemistry from 12 producer wells and six closed wells, and related host rock mineralogy. Saline waters of Cl–Na type with total dissolved solids from 10 to 23 g/L are chemically distinct from hypersaline Cl–Ca–Na and Cl–Na–Ca type waters with TDS between 181 and 385 g/L. Bromine/Cl and Br/Na ratios suggest the subaerial evaporation of seawater beyond halite precipitation to explain the extreme hypersaline components, while less saline samples were formed by mixing of high salinity end members with surface-derived, low salinity water components. The dissolution of evaporites from adjacent salt domes has little impact on present formation water composition. Geochemical simulations with Harvie-Mφller-Weare and PHRQPITZ thermodynamic data sets suggest secondary fluid enrichment in Ca, HCO3 and Sr by water–rock interaction. The volumetric mass balance between Ca enrichment and Mg depletion confirms dolomitization as the major alteration process. Potassium/Cl ratios below evaporation trajectory are attributed to minor precipitation of K feldspar and illitization without evidence for albitization at the Jujo–Tecominoacán reservoir. The abundance of secondary dolomite, illite and pyrite in drilling cores from reservoir host rock reconfirms the observed water–rock exchange processes. Sulfate concentrations are controlled by anhydrite solubility as indicated by positive SI-values, although anhydrite deposition is limited throughout the lithological reservoir column. The chemical variety of produced water at the Jujo–Tecominoacán oil field is related to a sequence of primary and secondary processes, including infiltration of evaporated seawater and original meteoric fluids, the subsequent mixing of different water types and the formation of secondary minerals by water–rock interaction. A best fit between measured and calculated reservoir temperatures was obtained with the Mg–Li geothermometer for high salinity formation water (TDS > 180 g/L), whereas Na–K, Na–Ka–Ca and quartz geothermometers are partially applicable for less salinite water (TDS < 23 g/L).  相似文献

Homogeneous 129I / 127I ratios from 6.51 ± 1.36 × 10− 14 to 12.6 ± 1.49 × 10− 14 were measured in formation brine at the Pol-Chuc, Abkatún, Taratunich–Batab off-shore oil reservoirs, Bay of Campeche in S-Mexico. Cosmogenic production could account for a homogeneous, Late Cretaceous/Paleocene time period (71.3 ± 5.3 to 56.3 ± 2.9 Ma) for the sedimentation and burial of organic material in the source formation. As the actual reservoir column is formed by Paleocene to Kimmeridgian sediments, the lower part of the lithological column must have received hydrocarbons that migrated downward from an initial source rock (Upper Cretaceous?) during a post-Paleocene event, probably during Miocene. Cosmogenic production from Tithonian shales can be excluded, as 129I would have been decayed. As an alternative or complementary process, the subsurface, radiogenic production of 129I / 127I by 238U-fission in Uranium-enriched sediments should also be considered to explain the present, low 129I / 127I ratios.  相似文献

CCD images of comet P/Grigg-Skjellerup, obtained for astrometric purposes with the 3.5 m telescope at the Calar Alto Observatory/Spain, were used for an analysis of the activity status of the nucleus and for a search of faint coma structures. The nucleus was found essentially inactive beyond 2.7 AU solar distance both inbound and outbound (observations on 12–13 August, 1986, 21–23 October, 1986, 22 August, 1988, 18 October, 1988, 9 and 12 September, 1991 and 3 December, 1991). The coma of the comet was well developed in May and July 1987 with a diameter of at least 190 000 km on 24 May, 1987 and of at least 80 000 km on 24 July 1987. The coma showed a cone of diffuse brightness enhancement in the sunward hemisphere. The orientation of the cone axis changed from the Sun direction in May 1987 towards about North in July 1987, i.e., it was almost perpendicular to the projected Sun-nucleus line on the sky. The cone opening angle became smaller from about 100 in May to about 50 in July 1987. A weak and narrow plasma tail was found in the images of May 1987.  相似文献
