The consequences of extremely heavy rains in the coastal zone near Gelendzhik on July 6, 2012 are discussed with defining the sources of the solid material supply to the seashore, estimating their influence on the lithodynamic processes, and approximately calculating the volumes of the solid material that was transported by permanent and intermittent streams and provided by the coastal denudation. It is emphasized that the probability of such anomalous natural events should be taken into account when prognosticating the evolution of the seashore and estimating the balances of solid material.  相似文献

Constant seacoast changes represent a natural process for coastal geosystems; moreover, the extent of technogenically transformed coasts is constantly growing. It is impossible to create coastal economic development and conservation plans without understanding how environmental conditions and technogenic transformation affect coastal geosystems. Successful integrated use of the seacoast requires reliable information on the magnitude of observed and projected changes, the admissibility of anthropogenic changes to the coast, and adaption of economic activity to such possible changes. The paper discusses the basic principles for comprehensively assessing Russian coastal areas. A system of criteria is proposed to qualitatively assess the economic and environmental importance of individual coastal areas and their resistance to possible changes. These criteria are tested in some areas of Russia’s Azov–Black Sea coast. A preliminary assessment has shown that accumulative shores are the most dynamic and prone to natural hazards.  相似文献

The results of the analysis of the stable oxygen isotopes content in shell carbonates for the purpose of the individual age determination of the Rapana venosa gastropod (Valenciennes 1846) are presented. The data acquired via this method agreed with the number of spawning marks on the shell surface. Additionally, the duration of the seasonal extrema can indicate the velocity of the shell’s growth throughout the mollusk life, and the relative δ18O value in the shell’s near-apex increments, the season when a young shell comes out of its cocoon. It has been shown that the common method of growth rings counting at the operculum is unreliable for a shell’s age determination. The distinguishing of modal classes is ineffective as well, since the corridor of the variations in size for coeval individuals is very broad. Apparently, such variable characteristics as the growth rate, the wall’s thickness, and the relative weight are greatly dependent on the alimentary conditions, which are unequal even in the same biotope.  相似文献

Data on the distribution of six genera of poorly studied buccinids of the Colinae subfamily (Neogastropoda, Buccinidae), namely, Colus Röding, 1799; Plicifusus Dall, 1902; Retifusus Dall, 1916; Aulacofusus Dall, 1918; Pararetifusus Kosuge, 1967; and Latisipo Dall, 1916, are presented. These mollusks are widely spread in the North Pacific region dwelling predominantly over loose sediments in a wide range of sea depths. Based on the morphology and contents of their digestive tracts, it is assumed that the representatives of the genera studied are predators with diverse diets. It is supposed that the increase in the dwelling depths had no significant influence on the feeding ecology of the species studied. Meanwhile, the lower abundance of preys at greater depths caused the lower population densities and modifications in the proboscis structure of selected taxa.  相似文献
