Volkhovites—tektite-like glasses—have been detected in the Holocene glacial drift along the right bank of the Volkhov River. A cryptomagmatic model of their formation and pre-Holocene age of volkhovite melts, cinder, and frothed glasses has been suggested (Skublov et al., 2007). Four geochemical types of volkhovites are distinguished: (1) manganous (Mn, Fe, Cr, V, Si, Nb, Pb, H), (2) magnesian (Mg, Al, Ti, F, B), (3) potassic (K, Rb, Cs), and (4) calcic (Ca, REEs, Ba, U, Th, Ta, Hf, Y, Sc, Cl). In light of the geochemical data, volkhovites are regarded as natural silicate glasses of kimberlite-carbonatite composition. Their types are called kimberlitic (Mn type), kimberlitic-carbonatitic (Mg type), lamproitic-carbonatitic (K type), and carbonatitic (Ca type). Volkhovites are suggested to be indicators of undiscovered diamond mineralization of kimberlite or carbonatite (Chagatai) types.  相似文献

This paper reports the results of chemical and structural study (electron microscopy and ion microprobe) of zircons from different-age generations of migmatite leucosomes in the basement rocks and Kurumkan Formation within the Nimnyr block, Aldan shield. The studied zircons show REE distribution pattern with a positive slope from LREE to HREE and positive Ce anomaly, which is typical of magmatic zircons, but have elevated LREE contents, which implies their crystallization from migmatite melt with subsequent fluid reworking. The transformations of the zircons were caused by fluid, which was separated during crystallization of the last LILE-enriched portions of the melt and inherited the geochemical features of the host rock—leucosome.  相似文献

Using local procedures, the new results on the isotope ages and composition of mineral inclusions were obtained for detrital zircons from Paleoproterozoic Jatulian terrigenous quartzites and polymictic conglomerates in Central and Western Karelia. For Eastern Laurasia, signs of the existence of Hadean and ancient Eoarchean matter were found for the first time (zircon grains of 3871 ± 38.6 and 3837 ± 42.1 Ma concordant ages). The multimodal distribution of ages within 3.45−2.61 Ga was revealed. The discovery of the oldest zircon grains provides the conditions for valid global correlations of geological events that determined the deposition and formation of the continental crust of the North Atlantic supercraton.  相似文献

The first geochemical study of titanite from eclogites and associated rocks of the Belomorian Mobile Belt (BMB) by secondary ion mass spectrometry made it possible to establish the compositional features of this mineral in the garnet-bearing and garnet-free assemblages. Titanite from garnet-bearing assemblages is characterized by upward convex REE pattern and lowered HREE content relative to LREE, as well as the average GdN/YbN ratio around 16.5. Titanite from metaultrabasic rock inherits the specific features of the host rock, which should be taken into account when comparing with titanite from metagabbro. Results of U-Pb (TIMS) dating of titanite confirms the identification of the early and late stages of the Svecofennian metamorphism in the studied areas of BMB: early metamorphism with the peak eclogite facies conditions at around 1900 Ma, retrograde amphibolite facies metamorphism at 1870–1880 Ma, and late allochemical metamorphism accompanied by the pegmatite formation with an age of 1840 Ma.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of a complex study (morphology of grains, internal texture in cathodoluminescence and backscattered electrons, microprobe analysis, Lu–Hf data) of five groups (generations) of zircon crystals differing in age and separated from the same granulite sample pertaining to the Bug River Complex of the Ukrainian Shield. The data show that the oldest zircon crystals of the first group (3.74 Ga in age) are xenogenic and initially crystallized from a granitic melt; zircon of the second group (3.66 Ga) formed from a mafic melt contaminated by felsic country rocks. The third group (3.59 Ga) is represented by zircons that formed about 100 Ma later than the second group under conditions of granulite-facies metamorphism and with the participation of fluid-saturated anatectic melt. Two Paleoproterozoic zircon groups (~2.5 and 2.1 Ga) also formed under granulite-facies conditions; to a certain extent, their structure and composition were controlled by fluid. The geochemistry of all zircon generations provides evidence for their crystallization in the continental crust, but from the sources differing in the contribution of mantle-derived material and in oxygen fugacity.  相似文献

Analysis of currently available data (877 individual high-precision zircon analyses) on the composition of zircons from eclogite complexes worldwide reveals general relations in the zircon composition: an anomalous decrease in the Th concentration (no higher than 3 ppm on average) and the Th/U ratio (0.33 on average), a significant decrease in the concentrations of all REE (to 22 ppm) and particularly LREE (<2 ppm), and relatively low concentrations of Y (34 ppm), U (100 ppm), and P (41 ppm) at an elevated Hf concentration (11 400 ppm on average). The REE patterns of eclogitic zircons are noted for pronounced flat HREE patterns, poorly pronounced (if any) negative Eu anomalies, strongly reduced positive Ce anomalies (Ce/Ce* = 11 on average), and U-shaped configurations of LREE patterns up to the development of negative Nd anomalies. The relations detected in the distribution of trace elements and REE in eclogitic zircons are of universal nature and occur irrespective of the rock type (metabasites, metaultrabasites, or gneisses) and the metamorphic pressure (eclogites of high and ultrahigh pressure). The application of the aforementioned criteria makes it possible to reliable distinguish eclogitic zircons from those of magmatic or metamorphic genesis (not related to high-pressure metamorphism). Eclogites in the Belomorian Mobile Belt (in the Salma and Gridino areas) were determined to contain zircons in metagabbro eclogites; the cores of these zircons have an age of 2.8?C2.9 Ga and are of magmatic genesis, whereas their outer metamorphic zones have an age of 1.9 Ga and a trace-element composition typical of eclogitic zircons. Hence, the Belomorian Mobile Belt was affected only by single (Svecofennian, at ??1.9 Ga) episode of eclogite metamorphism of Archean rocks.  相似文献
