Numerical Modeling of Flow Kinematics in a Segment of Inerodable Channel

A numerical model of a riffle segment of a large river is applied to examine the kinematic flow structure at different phases of water regime. A finite-difference scheme on an irregular triangular grid is proposed for solving shallow-water equations. The results of field measurements and calculations are presented.     

Mathematical Modeling of Complex Reaches of Large River Channels

Mathematical models based on shallow water equations and on an equation of bed deformations are proposed to use in designing hydraulic structures and in channel straightening operations in large rivers. Specific examples of application of computer models are cited.     

Modern Computational Technologies for Calculating Open Flow Dynamics

General approaches to solving the problems of open flow dynamics are discussed. Most attention is concentrated on the selection of numerical methods, construction of special computational grids, numerical experiments, and analysis of the adequacy of the obtained solution to the field observation results. The results of effective solution of some important practical problems are given to illustrate the potentialities of computational technologies.
