Zusammenfassung Profile von kulmischen Kieselschiefern des hessischen Hinterlandes wurden optisch, röntgenographisch, chemisch, spektralanalytisch und differential-thermoanalytisch untersucht. Die nicht-lyditischen Bestandteile wurden besonders berlicksichtigt.Als Vergleichsmaterial dienten kulmische Kieselschiefer aus dem Harz, sowie tertiäre (Monterey), silurische und algonkische Kieselschiefer. Es wurde festgestellt, daß in der Kulmstufe II–III (dunkle und bunte Lydite) im hessischen Hinterland und im Harz zahlreiche, gering mächtige Tuffhorizonte auftreten; ihre Häufigkeit nimmt nach obenhin zu. Die bunten Lydite führen tuffitische Bänke, deren Grundmasse ursprünglich kalkig war. Die bisher nur aus dem Harz bekannten, kieseligen Tuffe des Kulms (Typ Lerbacher Adinole) Bind auch im hessischen Hinterland verbreitet.Met Röntgen- und DTA-Aufnahmen wurde zu zeigen versucht, daß die Kieselsäure seit der Entstehung des Sediments folgende Phasenumwandlungen erfahren hat:Opal Cristobalit mikrokristalliner Quarz (Chalzedon, Quarzin), und daß in paläozoischen Kieselsedimenten noch amorphe oder stark fehlgeordnete Kieselsäure vorhanden sein kann.Die Entstehung der kulmischen Kieselschiefer wird diskutiert.  相似文献

Bay anchovy (Anchoa mitchilli) larvae were hatched and reared in the laboratory from eggs collected near Beaufort, North Carolina. The first growth increment formed on otoliths on the fifth day after hatching when larvae were between 3.7 and 4.2 mm standard length. On the average, one otolith growth increment was formed per day thereafter in larvae up to 23 d posthatch. Age of wild larvae from the Newport River estuary in North Carolina was determined from otolith increment counts based on the assumption that increment deposition rates in nature are the same as in the laboratory. From their size and estimated age, it appears that the standard length (SL) of wild larvae in the estuary increases exponentially at about 4% d?1 during their first 1.6 months, increasing from 0.24 mm d?1 on day 12 to 1.11 mm d?1 on day 49. Bay anchovy spawned early in the season (e.g., April–May) could grow to maturity and reach a size (>40 mm SL) that would enable them to spawn during their first summer.  相似文献

A simple algebraic equation is presented here to estimate the magnitude of groundwater velocity based on data from a single-well injection-drift test thereby eliminating the time-consuming and costly extraction phase. A volume of tracer-amended water was injected by forced-gradient into a single well followed by monitoring of the conservative solute tracers under natural-gradient conditions as their upgradient portions drifted back through the well. The breakthrough curve data from the single well during the drift phase was analyzed to determine the mean travel times of the tracers. The estimated mean upgradient travel distance back through the single well and the mean travel times of the tracers were used in a simple algebraic equation to estimate groundwater velocity. The groundwater velocity based on the single-well injection-drift test was estimated to be approximately 0.64 ft per day. Two transects of observation wells were used to monitor the natural-gradient tracer transport downgradient of the injection well. The one-dimensional, or dual-well, transport of the tracer from the injection well to the nearest downgradient observation well indicated that the groundwater velocity was 0.55 ft per day. The two-dimensional, or multi-well, transport of the center of mass of the tracers indicated that the groundwater velocity was 0.60 ft per day; the dual- and multi-well results were in excellent agreement with those from the single-well and validated the simple algebraic equation. The new single-well method presented here is relatively simple, rapid, and does not require an extraction phase.  相似文献

We compared (1) ichthyoplankton composition and (2) basin and channel habitat ichthyofauna and seagrass densities between 1984–1985 and 1994–1996 in Florida Bay. Stations and sampling techniques employed in 1984–1985 were duplicated in the 1994–1996 study.Thalassia testudinum, Halodule wrightii, andSyringodium filiforme densities within most of the basin and channel strata sampled in 1994–1996 had decreased by as much as 100%. We did not observe changes in the total density of juvenile and small adult fishes coincident with the reductions in seagrass densities except in the deep-water channel habitats. There was an increase in the proportion of the total ichthyofauna represented by pelagic atherinids, engraulids, and clupeids, particularly the engraulidAnchoa mitchilli, and a concomitant decrease in the proportion represented by canopy-dwelling and morebenthic-dwelling seagrass inhabitants. This suggested a shift toward a planktonic-feeding community. We observed an increase in the density and frequency of engraulid larvae, particularly in the western and Gulf of Mexico portions of Florida Bay, but no significant changes in densities of the commonly collected ichthyoplankton that are demersal as adults (i.e., Gobiidae, Callionymidae, and Blennioidei).Lucania parva, Eucinostomus spp.,Lagodon rhomboides, Floridichthys carpio, Haemulon plumieri, andSyngnathus floridae represented nearly 86% of the juvenile and small adult fish collected in 1984–1985 but represented only 29% of the ichthyofauna a decade later. The distribution of juvenile spotted seatrout had expanded into the central and northeastern basins of our sampling area, perhaps in response to reduced salinities or to the availability of food resources.  相似文献

Part I: Chemical and structural effects of cation-exchange Attempts were made to prepare, by appropriate exchange methods, homoionic samples of phillipsite, gismondite, harmotome, chabazite and gmelinite containing Ba, Ca, K, Na or Li-ions. Powdered natural samples were used as starting material. All samples were analysed chemically before and after the cation exchange. The results of the analyses demonstrated clearly that the „exchange capacity“ depends on the method used, the structure of the zeolite and the nature of the cation involved in the exchange. The analyses also disclosed the important fact that the ratio in Mole % of the sum of exchangeable cations: Al2O3 of the natural and of the exchanged samples is generally <1, and can be as low as 0.74. Examples are presented where cation exchange results in a substantial change in the framework structure. Part II: Dehydration behavior and structural changes at elevated temperatures Samples of the natural zeolites mentioned above, and of some of their cation exchange products were dehydrated in air of controlled humidity up to 600° C. The slopes of the weight loss curves of chabazite and gmelinite are continuous, whereas those of phillipsite, gismondite, and harmotome show a discontinuity between 90–190° C, indicating the existence of two discrete hydrated phases for each of these zeolites. High temperature x-ray studies of powdered samples confirmed this result. The high temperature hydrates of phillipsite, gismondite, and harmotome persist reversibly up to approximately 230° C. At higher temperatures, new probably anhydrous phases form. Gmelinite, at 240° C, transforms irreversibly to anhydrous gmelinite which is stable up to >700° C. The transition was studied by single crystal techniques. The chabazite structure remains intact up to >700° C. The absolute water content and the dehydration behavoir of the zeolites investigated are primarily dependent on the nature of the exchange cation. The structural changes at elevated temperatures are determined by the silica alumina framework. Part III: Hydrothermal stability* and interconversions The stability of phillipsite, gismondite, harmotome, chabazite, gmelinite, their exchange products, and of the synthetic Linde zeolites Faujasite and Type A was studied in the temperature range between 150° and 350° C at a constant pressure of 1000 atm of H2O. Between 180° and 260° C all examined Sodium and Calcium zeolites were metastable with respect to analcite (wairakite**). Phillipsite and sodium-rich zeolites generally converted to analcite (wairakite) directly. Caex-chabazite and Caex-gmelinite formed phillipsite, whereas Ca-gismondite and Ca-Type A formed natrolite as intermediate phases. Li-gmelinite converted to bikitaite***. (This represents the first successful preparation of natrolite and bikitaite. Attempts starting from gels or glasses have been unsuccessful so far.) Ba-gmelinite converted to harmotome at 250° C. This transformation was studied microscopically and by single crystal x-ray techniques. The transformations that take place on hydrothermal treatment as well as on low temperature cation exchange of zeolites (see Part I) indicate that, unlike the conditions prevailing in clays, the type of cation and the ratio of cations in the exchange positions have an important influence on the structure of the silicaalumina-oxygen framework. This explains two phenomena: The lack of solid solution between two potential end members of a solid solution series (for instance phillipsite-gismondite), and the large number of different zeolites in nature, where a great variety in the ratios of available alkali and alkaline earths ions must be expected. Any classification of zeolites becomes still more difficult in view of the fact that conversions among different groups (chabazite → phillipsite) and different structures (three-dimensional framework → fibre) take place relatively easily. Coastal and residential development along the Atlantic coast of the United States is expected to increase by about 73% between 1980 and 2000. Present estimates indicate that over 59% of the population of the United States lives within 50 miles of the coast. This increase in coastal population coupled with increased demands for fishery products and increased efficiency in catching fish has severely stressed many Atlantic coast fisheries. Fisheries have been affected by increased pollution, habitat loss and overfishing. In 1976, the Magnuson Fishery Conservation and Management Act was passed creating Fishery Management Councils with the goal of imposing strict conservation measures in the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). This paper discusses potential causes of Atlantic Coast fisheries declines and gives examples of specific fishery plans that have been developed to manage U.S. fisheries.  相似文献
