In this study, we used boundary layer heights derived from lidar in Romania to validate the Weather Research Forecast (WRF) model improved by ARIA Technologies SA in the framework of ROMAIR LIFE project. Lidar retrievals were also compared to the retrievals from meteorological data, both modeled (Global Data Assimilation System; GDAS) and measured (microwave radiometry). Both the gradient and the wavelet covariance methods were used to compute the boundary layer height (BLH) from the range corrected lidar signal, and their equivalence was shown. The analysis was performed on 102 datasets, spread over all seasons and 3 years (2009–2011). A good agreement was found for the remote sensors (lidar and microwave radiometer) which are co-located and measure simultaneously. The correlation of the measured boundary layer height and the modelled one was 0.66 for the entire dataset, and 0.73 when considering daytime data, i.e., for a well defined boundary layer. A systematic underestimation of the boundary layer height by the WRF during non-convective periods (nocturne, stable atmosphere) was found. 相似文献

Industrial archaeology has developed as an important aspect of conservation during the second half of the twentieth century
in the Western world and there have been great opportunities in transition countries since 1989 on account of economic restructuring
and the importance given to 'niche' tourism. While the core interest lies with machines and industrial buildings, attention
is also given to transport systems and the social context, with respect to relations between owners, managers and workers.
Moreover, the desirability of maintaining old industrial installations within their traditional landscape settings enables
industrial archaeology to make a contribution to sustainable development. This paper considers the prospects for Romania,
with particular reference to the Reşiţa area of the Banat Carpathians. The mineral resources of this region gave rise to a
metallurgical industry which was established under Habsburg administration in the eighteenth century and continues today.
In addition to the principal factories in Anina and Reşiţa, the mining installations, transport systems and power stations
contribute to a diverse industrial region in a distinctive physical and cultural setting. The development of the complex is
summarised and the opportunities for conservation are evaluated. The tourist infrastructure of the area is also examined with
regard to the range of accommodation available.

This study investigates structural and adsorption properties of the powdered waste shells of Rapana gastropod and their use as a new cheap adsorbent to remove reactive dye Brilliant Red HE‐3B from aqueous solutions under batch conditions. For the powder shells characterization, solubility tests in acidic solutions and X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDX), Fourier transform IR spectroscopy (FT‐IR) and thermogravimetric analyses were performed. The results revealed that the adsorbent surface is heterogeneous consisting mainly from calcium carbonate layers (either calcite or aragonite) and a small amount of organic macromolecules (proteins and polysaccharides). The dye adsorptive potential of gastropod shells powder was evaluated as function of initial solution pH (1–5), adsorbent dose (6–40 g L?1), dye concentration (50–300 mg L?1), temperature (5–60°C), and contact time (0–24 h). It was observed that the maximum values of dye percentage removal were obtained at the initial pH of solution 1.2, shells dose of 40 g L?1, dye initial concentration of 50–50 mg L?1 and higher temperatures; the equilibrium time decreases with increasing of dye concentration. It is proved that the waste seashell powder can be used as low cost bioinorganic adsorbent for dyes removal from textile wastewaters. 相似文献

The Holocene history of the Danube Delta has been studied using 14C analyses of faunal material. The principal phases of development include: (1) initial Letea Caroarman spit, 11,700–9800 yr B.P. in its central part, 8800-5500 yr B.P. in its southern part; (2) Sf. Gheorghe I Delta, 8900-7200 yr B.P.; (3) Sulina Delta, 7200-2000 yr B.P., and (4) Sf. Gheorghe II Delta-Chilia Delta 2000 yr B.P.-present. Other smaller-scale features have also been dated, including secondary deltas (Co?na and Sinoe Deltas) and littoral bars. Age determinations carried out on whole samples were erratic and it was found that individual species had to be separated and dated. In all cases, the older dates were of transported material whereas the younger dates gave the true age of the formation. 相似文献

An Early Permian volcanic assemblage is well exposed in the central-western part of the Apuseni Mountains (Romania). The rocks are represented by rhyolites, basalts and subordinate andesites suggesting a bimodal volcanic activity that is intimately associated with a post-orogenic (Variscan) syn-sedimentary intra-basinal continental molasse sequences. The mafic and mafic-intermediate rocks belong to sub-alkaline tholeiitic series were separated in three groups (I–III) showing a high Th and Pb abundances, depletion in Nb, Ta and Sr, and slightly enriched in LREE patterns (LaN/YbN = 1.4–4.4). Isotopically, the rocks of Group I have the initial ratios 87Sr/86Sr(i) = 0.709351–0.707112, 143Nd/144Nd(i) = 0.512490–0.512588 and high positive ?Nd270 values from 3.9 to 5.80; the rocks of Group II present for the initial ratios values 87Sr/86Sr(i) = 0.709434–0.710092, 143Nd/144Nd(i) = 0.512231–0.512210 and for ?Nd270 the negative values from −1.17 to −1.56; the rocks of Group III display for the initial ratios the values 87Sr/86Sr(i) = 0.710751–0.709448, 143Nd/144Nd(i) = 0.512347–0.512411 and for ?Nd270 the positive values from 1.64 to 2.35. The rocks resembling continental tholeiites, suggest a mantle origin and were further affected by fractionation and crustal contamination. In addition, the REE geochemistry (1 > SmN/YbN < 2.5; 0.9 > LaN/SmN < 2.5) suggests that these rocks were generated by high percentage partial melting of a metasomatized mantle in the garnet peridotite facies. The felsic rocks are enriched in Cs, Rb Th and U and depleted in Nb, Ta, Sr, Eu, and Ti. The REE fractionation patterns show a strong negative Eu anomaly (Eu/Eu* = 0.23–0.40). The felsic rocks show the initial ratios the values: 87Sr/86Sr(i) = 0.704096–0.707805, 143Nd/144Nd(i) = 0.512012–0.512021 and for ?Nd270 the negative values from −5.27 to −5.44. They suggest to be generated within the lower crust during the emplacement of mantle-derived magmas that provided necessary heat to crustal partial melting. 相似文献

Romania has a genuine accumulation of “blind” porphyry CuAuMo systems associated with Cu skarns or AuAg (PbZn) epithermal vein sets. Many such hidden structures were discovered inadvertently during state exploration based on local tradition that Romanian Carpathians are rich in vein and skarn ore types. Notable dichotomy between porphyries associated with peripheral skarns versus epithermal ores is expressed by age (Mesozoic versus Tertiary), precious metal content, alteration types and zoning, shape/size and extension of ore bodies. Preliminary conclusions on metallic/alteration assemblages around porphyries in addition to geophysical information about inferred deep-seated Alpine plutonism promote potential exploration vectors for what will be an increasingly important deposit type in the future. 相似文献

Taking as an example six main rivers that drain the western flank of the Eastern Carpathians, a conceptual model has been developed, according to which fluvial bed sediment bimodality can be explained by the overlapping of two grain size distribution curves of different origins. Thus, for Carpathian tributaries of the Siret, coarse gravel joins an unimodal distribution presenting a right skewness with enhanced downstream fining. The source of the coarse material distributions is autohtonous (by abrasion and hydraulic sorting mechanisms). A second distribution with a sandy mode is, in general, skewed to the left. The source of the second distribution is allohtonous (the quantity of sand that reaches the river‐bed through the erosion of the hillslope basin terrains). The intersection of the two distributions occurs in the area of the 0·5–8 mm fractions, where, in fact, the right skewness (for gravel) and left skewness (for sand) histogram tails meet. This also explains the lack of particles in the 0·5–8 mm interval. For rivers where fine sediment sources are low, the 0·5–8 mm fractions have a higher proportion than the fractions under 1 mm. For the Siret River itself, bed sediment bimodality is greatly enhanced due to the fact that the second mode is more than 25% of the full sample. As opposed to its tributaries, the source of the first mode, of gravel, is allohtonous to the Siret river, generated by the massive input of coarse sediment through the Carpathian tributaries, while the second mode, of the sands, is local. In this case we can also observe that the two distributions of particles of different origins overlap in the 0·5–8 mm fraction domain, creating the illusion of ‘particle lack’ in the fluvial bed sediments. The reflection of incident gravity waves over an irregular swash zone morphology and the resulting influence on surf zone dynamics remains mostly unexplored. The wave-phase resolving SWASH model is applied to investigate this feedback using realistic low-tide terraced beach morphology with well-developed beach cusps. The rhythmic reflection generates a standing wave that mimics a subharmonic edge wave, from the superimposition of incident and two-dimensional reflected waves. This mechanism is enhanced by shore-normal, narrow-banded waves in both direction and frequency. Our study suggests that wave reflection over steep beaches could be a mechanism for the development of rhythmic morphological features such as beach cusps and rip currents. 相似文献

A most distinctive feature of the settlement pattern of the Brasov area is the extreme dispersal of mixed farming encountered
in the western extreme of the county to the north and south of Zarnesti: the Bran and Poiana Marului areas. Here a system
of peasant subsistence farming developed in a political borderland between the Habsburg and Ottoman Empires. Despite feudal
pressures, the peasantry took all available opportunities to extend their independence including elaborate transhumance systems.
And after seeing transfrontier commerce as a source of plunder, in the tradition of Balkan highway robbery within relatively
unregulated spaces, the peasantry has profited through employment in factories, particularly during the communist period.
However, the current recession in manufacturing is throwing the rural population back on limited land resources. Although
farming assumes an important subsistence role which contributes to stability, the long-term survival of these communities
will depend on new sources of income. Rural tourism has considerable potential and a promising start has been made in Bran.
There are, however, constraints on the further development of the business and great attention will have to be given to the
conservation of the environment in both the Bucegi Mountains and the Piatra Craiului where national park status is proposed.

This paper focuses on the Sub–Carpathian region which has traditionally maintained a large rural population and is today suffering
acute economic and social stress. During the present transition phase the rural population is struggling to survive by combining
elements of the modern and traditional economies and research has been undertaken to clarify a range of household strategies.
After profiling the communes of the Buzau Carpathians the problem is tackled at two levels on the basis of questionnaire work
carried out during 1998–1999. First there is a general overview to outline conditions in Patarlagele commune, including some
local contrasts between settlements on main transport axis along the Buzau valley and those in the hills and side valleys.
Second there is a consideration of in-depth profiles of specific households in villages in the wider area including Panatau
as well as Patarlagele commune. It remains to be seen to what extent the district will be able to safeguard its social capital
when growth resumes in large towns especially Brasov and Buzau with which Patarlagele has the best contacts. It is also an
open question how far the remoter settlements will retain a viable population, assuming that the services remain relatively
poor while disadvantage persists with regard to both employment opportunities and physical security.
