Measured time series were generated by small omnidirectional explosive sources in a shallow water area. A bottom-mounted hydrophone recorded sound signals that propagated over a sloping bottom. The time series in the 250-500 Hz band were analyzed with a broad-band adiabatic normal mode approach. The measured waveforms contain numerous bottom interacting multipaths that are complicated by the subbottom structure that contains high-velocity layers near the water-sediment interface. Several of the details of the geoacoustic structure and the depth of the water column at the receiver are inferred from comparisons of the measured data to simulated time series. The sensitivity of broad-band matched-field ambiguity surfaces in the range-depth plane for a single receiver to selected waveguide parameters is examined. A consistent analysis is made where the simulated time series are compared to the measured time series along with the single-receiver matched-field localization solutions for ranges out to 5 km. In this range interval, it was found that the peak cross-correlation between the measured and simulated time series varied between 0.84 and 0.69. The difference between the GPS range and the range obtained from the matched-field solution varied from 0 to 63 m. The rotational velocity of the Sun is determined by sunspot tracings and by spectroscopic measurements of the photospheric plasma using the non-Zeeman-split line Fe i 5576 and absolute iodine reference. Stationary line shifts as limb-effect and longperiodical shifts introduced by supergranulation are discussed. The dependence on solar activity as Ca+ emissivity and magnetic fields is investigated including line asymmetries. The results are: (a) The non active photospheric regions rotate with 1995 ± 30 m s-1. Solar active regions yield a 60 m s-1 higher value. (b) In quiet regions the absolute limb shift varies between 170 m s-1 at the line core and 310 m s-1 at I/I
cont 0.8 (C-shape); thus the limb shift is mainly due to entire line shifts. (c) In solar active regions (close to spots) asymmetries are widely reduced in line cores; this effect cannot be associated with a variation of the limb effect due to a large scatter of Doppler shifts near spots. (d) A reduced limb shift of 50 m s-1 is found in network boundaries and is mainly due to a small scale downflow. (e) Observations with a smaller influence of stray light yield symmetric profiles in umbrae. (f) Differences between umbral rotation rates from tracer and spectroscopic measurements do not exceed 20 m s-1, when considering straylight. Gas-chromatographic Determination of Polychlorinated Biphenyls in Water after Headspace Solid-phase Microextraction Headspace-analytical techniques are usually applied to the determination of easily volatile substances in water, whereas semivolatiles are generally isolated by liquid-liquid or solid-phase extraction. In the present paper, a method is presented for isolating high boiling polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) using headspace solid-phase microextraction at elevated temperature. In spite of their low vapor pressure, the analytes are adsorbed very efficiently on a poly-dimethylsiloxane-coated fiber. Thus, in combination with GC/ECD, a very simple and sensitive solventless determination of PCB is accomplished. Using the simplest possible standard conditions, limits of determination in the lowest nanogram-per-liter range are achieved. Further increased sensitivity down to the ppq (parts per quadrillion) range is possible by stirring and increasing the sample volume and adsorption time. Random errors for the harmonic coefficients of a geopotential model are generated from the matrix of normal equations by a parallel computer applying the Gibbs sampler. This leads to random values for the harmonic coefficients. They are transformed by nonlinear, quadratic transformations to random values for the square roots of degree variances, of mean squares of geoid undulations and gravity anomalies. The expected values of these quantities are not equal to the values of these quantities computed by the estimated harmonic coefficients, due to correlations and errors in the estimation. By hypothesis tests estimated harmonic coefficients distorted by correlations and errors are detected. Applying the tests to the geopotential model ITG-CHAMP01 of the Institute of Theoretical Geodesy in Bonn it is concluded that above the degree 62 the harmonic coefficients cannot add any information to the geopotential model. 相似文献
