Local food is championed as one alternative response to industrial systems of food production and supply. While advocacy for local food is high, there is a lack of empirical evidence about the actual shape and scale of such food supply chains, especially from a retail perspective. Using supply chain diagrams, this paper presents a summary of ‘new’ agro-food geographies for five different retail types—farm shops, butchers, caterers, specialist shops, supermarkets/department stores—that all source local food from suppliers in the Scottish-English borders. Presented as five separate ‘shopping trips’, the paper examines where, how and why retailers source local food. Results reveal the complex nature of local food systems, especially in terms of intra-sector competitive dynamics (with a notable tension between direct forms of retail and established (independent) retailers), links and overlaps with ‘normal’ food retail systems and elastic notions of the ‘local’. The paper also draws a key distinction between locally produced and locally supplied food products.  相似文献

ABSTRACT. Vietnamese Americans have made places for themselves in Northern Virginia by reconfiguring the geography of the suburban places they inherited, including former high-order central-place nodes. Vietnamese American residences, churches, cemetery plots, and other distinctive ethnic markers are by and large dispersed and rarely noticeable. Their retail districts, however, serve them in multiple material and symbolic ways, not unlike suburban Chinatowns.  相似文献

This research aims to provide insight regarding Wal-Mart's retail development strategy in its expansion across the continental United States. The study examines store location patterns and relationships between Wal-Mart's store and distribution center locations and markets. The study shows that, although radial expansion is broadly characteristic of the dense store patterns that have been well established for Wal-Mart at the national level, expansion patterns at the regional level are consistent with a selective process based on factors other than store density. These results provide a new perspective on Wal-Mart's expansion, providing insights of value to retail practitioners and local government.  相似文献

The heightening scale of urban tourism and the fast-growing number of “floating” city users raise new challenges to understand contemporary urban change – namely for internationally open, heritage-rich medium-sized cities. Discussing the case of Porto at a time when the contested notion of gentrification infuses local politics, we highlight the transnational drivers of this process in Portugal´s second city. While acknowledging perils and benefits, we argue that more than simply leaving a footprint to be solved with taxation, internationally-driven gentrification may endanger city diversity and identity, raising implications for urban policy and for our understanding of local development as a whole.  相似文献

随着互联网、人工智能等技术的渗透,新零售这一城市新兴商业业态的发展对区位产生了差异化的选择。论文以星巴克和瑞幸咖啡为例,采用空间最邻近指数、核密度分析,比较上海传统零售与新零售在空间布局上的不同特征,并采用空间计量模型,进一步探究两者在区位选择因素上的差异。结果显示:①瑞幸和星巴克门店的空间布局在市域尺度上均具有明显的中心指向,但也存在差异。作为新零售的代表,瑞幸在城市各圈层的分布更为均质,不如传统零售星巴克强调城市中心区位。②传统零售与新零售具有相似性和差异性布局特征,全局而言,瑞幸的聚集程度高于星巴克。而在城市的中心区域,传统零售呈现单中心集聚特征,新零售则呈现多中心分散特征,远不如传统零售聚集。③新零售与传统零售的选址因素存在较大的差异。传统零售星巴克与商场密度有高度显著的相关性,具有商业中心偏好,而影响瑞幸咖啡选址最重要的因素是写字楼密度,且商场租金对其呈负向影响,新零售瑞幸咖啡对商务办公区域的偏好超过商业中心。  相似文献

零售业是城市商业结构中最有活力的组成部分,合理有序的零售空间结构对促进经济的发展、提高资源的配置、满足居民的生活需求至关重要。POI作为新的空间数据源,能够客观地、准确地对商业空间结构进行识别和探究。西宁市位于青藏高原东北部,是连接青藏高原与中国大陆的重要门户。西宁市集中大量的人口,且存在有潜力的消费市场。基于POI大数据,运用核密度、局域Getis-Ord G^*指数、Ripley’s K函数和区位熵的分析方法,以西宁市为研究案例探究零售网点的空间分布特征。零售业详细地分为以下8种类型,分别是食品、饮料及烟草制品,纺织、服装及日用品,文化、体育用品及器材,家用电器及电子产品,五金、家具室内装饰材料,医药及医疗器材,汽车、摩托车燃料及零配件,综合零售。结果表明:西宁市零售业集聚区空间分布特征显著,呈现"多集聚、多核心"商业空间形态。密度等级由中心区沿交通干线逐渐向外围递减;高密度集聚区分别分布在水井巷附近街区、商业巷附近街区、祁连路—北禅路交汇的附近街区(北山市场)和以万达广场为核心的海湖新区。行业属性不同使得零售点集聚和分布变化表现出较大的差异性,与人们日常生活密切相关的业态零售点呈现社区化、微型化和便利化的特征,且区位选择性较大,如:食品饮料及烟草制品、医药及医疗器材和综合零售行业,而家用电器及电子产品、文化体育用品和纺织服装等行业区位选择尺度小,集中在特定的区域;基于道路数据构建的街区单元冷热点区域分布特征显著,它受城市建设用地扩张,人口密度,交通可达性和城市规划等因素的影响,海湖新区将成为最有发展潜力的商业区;在街道尺度,各业态零售业专业化功能区块显著,发展成熟的街道表现出多优势行业集聚特征,西宁市多业态集聚区域较少,只有人民街街道。这项研究一方面有助于填补基于POI数据青藏高原河谷型城市商业空间结构研究的空白;另一方面,为政府战略制定,零售商选址和城市规划提供一些参考。  相似文献

传统零售商业网点选址模型主要是基于统计的静态模型。分析了影响零售商业网点选址的人口、经济、市场竞争三个关键要素,结合GIS,提出了一种基于权重设置的零售商业网点选址评价模型,并阐述了模型的应用流程。该模型在深圳市罗湖区公共信息服务平台中进行了典型应用实现,并检验了模型的应用可行性。  相似文献

The internationalising activities of retailers have tended to precede the theoretical contributions of academics. This is particularly the case for the cultural context within which retail internationalisation takes place. Following an examination of the growth of international retailing activity, the article reviews generic difficulties in studying inter-cultural differences before considering the specific steps which retail practitioners have taken to understand the comparative characteristics of retail and consumer markets through the growth of geodemographic and lifestyle analysis. Finally, we relate one of the most significant integrative intercultural theoretical instruments to the case of retail internationalisation within Western Europe. We find that significant insights into retailer behaviour and strategy can be gained from an understanding of the culturally-specific characteristics of the activity. The retail system is continuously adapting itself to changing demographic conditions, consumer behavior and economic conditions. Existing retail units, getting larger in order to achieve economics of scale, and new forms of large-scale retailing do not fit easily in the traditional spatial pattern of retail concentrations. Neverteless the spatial distribution of retailing in urban areas, as schematized by Berry thirty-five years ago, still has its value. Through an upward hierarchical movement the retail system has adapted itself to an inflexible spatial system, in which downtown has still a dominant position. Future developments, however, may weaken the position of central shopping areas in favour of peripheral locations. 对商业设施的商圈进行科学识别与划分是分析其商业前景、优化商业空间结构的基础。本研究首先提炼和界定了商圈划分的两种类型、四种市场域方法,分别是基于到访比例的邻近型与份额型市场域、基于出行概率的共享型和首位型市场域,通过比较其优劣发现这四种视角仅能反映商圈的某一特征,无法刻画出商圈空间分布全貌。据此,尝试提出了一种新的复合型市场域模型,并应用手机信令数据,以上海市商业中心为例,对其商圈划分进行了实证检验。研究发现:复合型市场域模型可以综合反映空间距离、客流规模和惠顾概率等要素对商圈的影响,可以弥补单一市场域视角下商圈划分方法的不足。与传统邻近型相比,基于复合市场域模型识别划分的商圈不仅重叠度低,而且其空间分布更加符合实际。  相似文献
