Computation of spherical harmonic coefficients and their error estimates using least-squares collocation 总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4

Equations expressing the covariances between spherical harmonic coefficients and linear functionals applied on the anomalous
gravity potential, T, are derived. The functionals are the evaluation functionals, and those associated with first- and second-order derivatives
of T. These equations form the basis for the prediction of spherical harmonic coefficients using least-squares collocation (LSC).
The equations were implemented in the GRAVSOFT program GEOCOL. Initially, tests using EGM96 were performed using global and
regional sets of geoid heights, gravity anomalies and second-order vertical gravity gradients at ground level and at altitude.
The global tests confirm that coefficients may be estimated consistently using LSC while the error estimates are much too
large for the lower-order coefficients. The validity of an error estimate calculated using LSC with an isotropic covariance
function is based on a hypothesis that the coefficients of a specific degree all belong to the same normal distribution. However,
the coefficients of lower degree do not fulfil this, and this seems to be the reason for the too-pessimistic error estimates.
In order to test this the coefficients of EGM96 were perturbed, so that the pertubations for a specific degree all belonged
to a normal distribution with the variance equal to the mean error variance of the coefficients. The pertubations were used
to generate residual geoid heights, gravity anomalies and second-order vertical gravity gradients. These data were then used
to calculate estimates of the perturbed coefficients as well as error estimates of the quantities, which now have a very good
agreement with the errors computed from the simulated observed minus calculated coefficients. Tests with regionally distributed
data showed that long-wavelength information is lost, but also that it seems to be recovered for specific coefficients depending
on where the data are located.

These coefficients vary with the KC number, the relative pile spacing, the number of piles and the pile location, and their relationships are presented in this paper. Some statistical properties of the summer monsoon seasonal rainfall for India during the last 100 years (1881–1980) are presented.
The most recent decade of 1971–1980 shows the lowest value of standard-decadal average monsoon rainfall (86.40 cm) and is
also characterised by the second highest value of coefficient of variation in monsoon rainfall (12.4 %). The combined last
two standard-decadal period of 1961–1980 was the period of the largest coefficient of variation and the lowest average monsoon
rainfall for India.
The possible influence of global climatic variability on the performance of the monsoon is also examined. Analyses of correlation
coefficient show that a statistically significant positive relationship with a time-lag of about six months exists between
monsoon rainfall and northern hemispheric surface air temperature. A cooler northern hemisphere during January/February leads
to a poor monsoon.
All the major drought years during the last 3 decades had much cooler January/February periods over the northern hemisphere—1972
having the coldest January/February with a temperature departure of −0.94°C and the most disastrous monsoon failure. 相似文献

An integrated probabilistic seismic hazard analysis procedure that incorporates nonlinear site effects, PSHA-NL, is developed and used to characterize the influence of thick deposits of the upper Mississippi Embayment (ME) on seismic site coefficients. PSHA-NL follows the methodology of the 2002 USGS hazard maps and generates a compatible set of ground motion records. The motions are propagated using nonlinear and equivalent linear site response analyses and ME properties developed in a companion paper and used to derive surface uniform hazard response spectra. A set of generic site coefficients are derived and summarized in a format similar to NEHRP site coefficients, with an added dimension of ME deposits thickness to the Paleozoic rock, a physically meaningful impedance boundary. These coefficients compare well with NEHRP site coefficients for 30 m profiles. For thicker soil profiles, developed site coefficients are lower at short periods and higher at long periods than NEHRP site coefficients. 相似文献

以陕西富平重塑黄土为研究对象, 引入有关变异性分析的变化量和变异系数两个参数, 对历经不同冻融循环次数后黄土的物理性质指标进行清晰全面的描述. 结果表明:土样的密度和孔隙比的变化量呈现"共轭"变化, 水理性质指标的变化量均随冻融次数的增加而变小; 各项指标的变异系数均随冻融次数逐渐减小, 即土样内部形成新的结构, 并趋于稳定. 在分析黄土基本物理性质变异性的基础上, 可进一步探讨其内部颗粒排列、粒度成分及矿物成分等的发展转变, 为解决该地区冻融黄土的土工问题提供了参考, 同时, 也是判断其工程性质最基本的依据之一. 相似文献
