High-resolution seismic imaging and piston coring in Lake Lucerne, Switzerland, have revealed surprising deformation structures in flat-lying, unconsolidated sediment at the foot of subaqueous slopes. These deformation structures appear beneath wedges of massflow deposits and resemble fold-and-thrust belts with basal décollement surfaces. The deformation is interpreted as the result of gravity spreading induced by loading of the slope-adjacent lake floor during massflow deposition. This study investigated four earthquake-triggered lateral mass-movement deposits in Lake Lucerne affecting four sections of the lake floor with areas ranging from 0·25 to 6·5 km2 in area. Up to 6 m thick sediment packages draping the subaqueous slopes slid along the acoustic basement. The resulting failure scars typically lie in water depths of >30 m on slopes characterized by downward steepening and inclinations of >10°. From the base-of-slope to several hundred metres out onto the flat plains, the wedges of massflow deposits overlie deeply (10–20 m) deformed basin-plain sediment characterized by soft sediment fold-and-thrust belts with arcuate strikes and pronounced frontal thrusts. The intensity of deformation decreases towards the more external parts of the massflow wedges. Beyond the frontal thrust, the overridden lake floor remains mostly undisturbed. Geometrical relationships between massflow deposits and the deformed basin-plain sediment indicate that deformation occurred mainly during massflow deposition. Gravity spreading induced by the successive collapse of the growing slope-adjacent massflow wedge is proposed as the driving mechanism for the deformation. The geometry of fjord-type lakes with sharp lower slope breaks favours the deposition of thick, basin-marginal massflow wedges, that effectively load and deform the underlying sediment. In the centre of the basins, the two largest massflow deposits described are directly overlain by thick contained (mega-)turbidites, interpreted as combined products of the suspension clouds set up by subaqueous mass movements and related tsunami and seiche waves.  相似文献

The microstructure charateristics of illite from the Chuanlinggou Formation of Changcheng System (Chch) in Jixian County, Tianjin City has been studied by means of high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), selected-area electron diffraction (SAED), X-ray energy dispersive spectrum (EDS) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). The Kübler index of "illite crystallinity" is 0.505°△2θ, which indicates that the host rock is in a middle diagenetic stage. The chemical analyses of EDS for illite studied indicate a heavily absent in interlayer cation and an average chemical formula of K0.57(Al1.80Mg0.42Fe2 0.12)∑=2.34 (Si2.92Al1.08)∑=4O10(OH)2. It is found, from one-dimensional lattice images, that the layers of illite not only stack in a flat way but also in a curving way. A "matting fabric" illite structure results from stacking faults. Combined with SAED analysis the illite studied can be affirmed as 1M illite. The two-dimensional lattice images are obtained from [100] and [110] incidences, whose lattice images have the same d-values but different intersecting angles. The two-dimensional lattice image with [100] incidence is orthogonal to each other, whilst that with [110] incidence is oblique. This paper provides some important structure information of authigenic clay minerals for the well-known mesoproterozoic section of Jixian County.  相似文献

文章综合利用岩心、露头、测井资料,运用高分辨率层序地层学基本理论和方法,对东胜地区直罗组地层进行不同级次基准面旋回的层序划分,共识别出8~14个短期旋回、3个中期旋回,并对不同级次基准面旋回的结构类型、叠加样式进行探讨。分析了中期旋回中可容纳空间与沉积物补给通量比值(A/S)的变化对河道砂体规模、储集性能的控制作用,指出与MSCl对应的直罗组底部的辫状河道砂体最有利于铀成矿,而与MSC2、MSC3对应的两套曲流河砂体则不利于铀成矿。文中最后分析了含铀含氧水在砂体中的运移路径,并试图回答主铀矿体为什么主要分布在砂体的中、上部,而在其翼部的矿体中,为什么下翼比上翼的厚度要大。  相似文献

The double-difference earthquake location algorithm was applied to the relocation of 10,057 earthquakes that occurred in central-western China (21N to 36N, 98E to 111E) during the period from 1992 to 1999. In total, 79,706 readings for P waves and 72,169 readings for S waves were used in the relocation. The relocated seismicity (6,496 earthquakes) images fault structures at seismogenic depths that are in close correlation with the tectonic structure of major fault systems expressed at the surface. The new focal depths confirm that most earthquakes (91%) in this region occur at depths less than 20 km.  相似文献

通过浅层高分辨率地震探测 ,结合钻孔资料 ,获得了测线处汾河断裂的准确位置 ,几何结构 ,活动性质、时代和速率等参数 ,并对其动力学属性进行了初步的讨论。地震探测揭露出汾河断裂的西支断层 ,为高角度东倾的斜滑断层 ,切割了第四系下部 ,上断点位于地下约 70m处。据钻孔剖面推断有 2条高角度相向而倾的斜滑断层 ,东支位于汾河东岸 ,断至全新统—上更新统 ,其底界面垂直错距约 8m。断裂北段另一个钻孔剖面表明 ,西支断层切割了全新统—上更新统 ,底界面垂直错距约6m。汾河断裂晚更新世以来的平均垂直滑动速率为 0 0 6~ 0 0 8mm/a ,大震平均重复间隔为 5 0~6 7ka  相似文献

1998年1月10日在北京西北约180 km的河北省张北县和尚义县交界地区发生的ML=6.2地震是华北地区近年的重要地震事件.历史上这一地区的地震活动水平不高,迄今在地表未发现有明显活动的断裂.张北-尚义地震发生后,不同机构给出的主震定位结果不尽相同,他们所给出的余震分布也没有显示出优势的展布方向.因此,张北-尚义地震的发震构造亟待研究.本文应用相对定位方法,对张北-尚义地震序列的主震和ML3.0余震重新精确定位.得出:张北-尚义地震序列的主震震中位置为41.145N、114.462E,位于宏观震中的北东方向约4 km处,震源深度15 km;余震震源分布在与震源机制解给出的走向为180~200的节面一致的、接近于竖直的平面内及其附近.张北-尚义地震序列的重新精确定位的结果清楚地表明了张北-尚义地震的发震构造是一近南-北向~北北东向的断层.这次地震是在与华北地区构造应力场方向一致的﹑近水平的、北东东向主压应力作用下发生的右旋-逆断层错动.   相似文献

汉寿县是国家、湖南省确定的移民安置重点地区和示范地区,以移民问卷调查作为研究基础,对移民安置模式及移民出向等特征进行分析评价。汉寿县基本移民安置模式为:(1)从退田还湖角度,为利于农业生产,实施单退和双退安置;(2)从移民建镇角度,采取集中安置和分散安置;(3)转垸建镇和筑台建镇等模式。目前移民安置中存在的主要问题是耕地不足,人地矛盾突出,移民就业难,地方工业吸纳移民少等。认为移民安置要与展生态农业、发展农村工业和推动城镇化相互作用,切实做好移民生产、生计安置,综合考虑移民长远发展,并为洞庭湖区移民安置的长远规划提供战略参考。  相似文献

A synthesis of high-resolution (Chirp, 2–7 kHz) seismic profiles in the South Korea Plateau reveals that large masses of wavy stratified sediment (≈60–90 m thick) cover broad, gently sloping (<0·5°) ridges in water depths of 1000–2000 m. The wavy stratified sediment (WSS) is characterized by wavy (0·2–5 km in wavelength and <15 m in relief), continuous reflective layers with a basal deformed zone that overlies undeformed, strong reflectors. The WSS exhibits systematic variation in wave dimensions and thickness of internal reflective layers with changes in slope gradient. The troughs of the waves are commonly associated with internal growth faults, and wave amplitude generally increases with subbottom depth. On steep slopes around the ridges, the WSS masses are bounded downslope by slide and slump deposits including slightly translated or rotated WSS blocks. The acoustic and geometric characters, and association with downslope slides and slumps on the steeper slopes, suggest that the WSS masses were most probably formed by slow creep movement before slope failure. In the absence of significant sediment input to the South Korea Plateau, the deep (1000–2000 m in water depth) mass movements were probably triggered by earthquakes that have occurred frequently in this region. Some slightly displaced, intact WSS blocks in the associated slides and slumps downslope reflect a progressive evolution from submarine creep into slide and slump.  相似文献

据中国地震台网测定,2021年5月21日21时48分在云南省大理州漾濞县发生MS6.4地震,及时查明此次地震的发震构造及震源破裂特征,可为认识该区孕震条件和判别未来强震危险性提供关键依据。采用双差定位方法对漾濞地震序列进行重新定位,得到3863次地震事件的精确震源位置。结果显示:漾濞地震序列整体呈北西—南东向分布,长约25 km;整体走向135°;MS6.4主震震中位置为25.688°N,99.877°E;震源深度约9.6 km。综合地震序列深度剖面和震源机制解结果可知,发震断层应为北西走向、整体向西南方向陡倾的右旋走滑断层,倾角具有自北西向南东逐渐变缓的趋势。进一步分析地震序列的时空演化过程发现,该地震具有典型的"前震-主震-余震型"地震序列活动特点,其破裂过程主要包括3个阶段。破裂成核阶段:首先在发震断层10~12 km深度处相对脆弱部位产生小尺度破裂,之后失稳加速破裂,发生MS5.6地震;主震破裂阶段:在构造应力场持续加载和周围小尺度破裂的共同影响下,促使浅部较高强度断层闭锁区破裂,形成MS6.4主震;尾端拉张破裂阶段:主震破裂向东南扩展过程中,在东南端形成与之呈马尾状斜交的、具有正断性质的次级破裂,并产生MS5.2余震。而且此次地震还在源区北东侧触发了北北东向的左旋走滑破裂。综合分析认为,漾濞地震是兰坪-思茅地块内部北西向草坪断裂在近南北向区域应力挤压作用下发生右旋走滑运动的结果,具有明显的新生断裂特征。近年来兰坪-思茅地块内部一系列中强地震的发生表明,青藏高原物质向东南持续挤出的过程中,遇到该地块的阻挡,正在导致地块内部早期断层贯通形成新的活动断裂。因此,川滇地块西南边界带上或相邻地块内部老断层的复活和新生断裂的产生是区域中强地震危险性分析评价中值得关注的重要课题,同时建议需重视未来该区中强地震进一步向东南和向北的迁移或扩展的可能性。   相似文献

Statistical discrimination of foreshocks from other earthquake clusters   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
When earthquake activity begins, it may be a foreshock sequence to a larger earthquake, a swarm, or a simple main-shock-aftershock sequence. This paper is concerned with the conditional probability that it will be foreshock activity of a later larger earthquake, depending on the occurrence pattern of some early events in the sequence. The earthquake catalogue of the Japan Meteorological Agency (1926-1993, MJ≥4) is decomposed into a large number of clusters in time and space in order to compare statistical features of foreshocks with those of swarms and aftershocks. Using such a data set, Ogata, Utsu & Katsura (1995) revealed some discriminating features of foreshocks relative to the other types of clusters, for example the events' closer proximity in time and space, and a tendency towards chronologically increasing magnitudes, which encouraged us to construct models which forecast the probability of the earthquakes being foreshocks. Specifically, the probability is a function of the history of magnitude differences, spans between origin times and distances between epicentres within a cluster. For purposes of illustration, the models were fitted to the early part of the data (1926-1975) and the validity of the forecasting procedure was checked on data from the later period (1976-1993). Two procedures for evaluating the performance of the probability forecast are suggested. Furthermore, for the case where only a single event is available (i.e. either it is the first event in a cluster or an isolated event), we also forecast the probability of the event being a foreshock as a function of its geographic location. Then, the validity of the forecast is demonstrated in a similar manner. Finally, making use of the multi-element prediction formula, we show that the forecasting performance is enhanced by the joint use of the information in the location of the first event, and that in the subsequent interevent history in the cluster.  相似文献
