Economy,culture and environment: perspectives on the Australian food industry

Intersections between economy, culture and environment pose exciting future challenges for human geography. Part of Griffith Taylor's pioneering role as a geographer was to investigate relationships between these three aspects of human life, although his agenda was that of environmental determinism. This paper considers these intersections as they relate to contemporary geographical studies of restructuring, in particular the emergence of a genuinely global economic system since about 1980. Recent developments in cultural geography argue that geographical analysis of restructuring has been dominated by an economic determinism which has buried other stories which could be told about industrial change. The paper sketches lines of possible dialogue between economic geography and cultural studies, illustrating the argument with examples from restructuring in the Australian food industry. In opening such a dialogue, economic geography would be better placed to return to interactions between economy, culture and environment. In his day, Taylor was not afraid to upset the conventional wisdom about these relationships and this may be one of his most enduring legacies.     

A comparison of the reactions to government taxation measures of twentieth century mining companies and nineteenth century pastoralists

This paper compares pastoralists in South Australia in the nineteenth century with Australian mining companies in the twentieth century as they resist the efforts of government to extract a greater proportion of the wealth created in the exploitation of natural resources. In effect, in both cases the struggle relates to the allocation of economic rent between private and corporate capital on the one hand, and the owners of the resources, the people of Australia, on the other. It is difficult not to be impressed by the similarities in the ideologies, objectives and strategies of these two groups of resource exploiters, separated though they are by over one hundred years.     

资源最优空间配置的系统经济理论研究

本文不仅研究了包括生产、消费、资源的空间配置和空间位置差异的一般经济均衡条件,而且还以大系统多级递阶控制原理,建立了统一协调的系统经济数学模型。该模型深刻地揭示了生产、消费、资源的空间配置与空间位置差异之间的相互关系,同时也是区位论的一种理论模式。

本文根据作者在我国沙漠地区的多年研究工作,对沙漠化的概念含义、我国沙漠化的成因和沙漠化现状等问题提出了看法。     

对铀资源形势和勘察任务的分析

本文从分析铀市场价格规律入手，指出在铀市场价格连续下跌以后，于２０００年可能有回升现象；在分析全球铀的产需情况后指出，自１９９０年开始出现自然铀的需求量大于生产量的趋势；在分析国内产需发展趋势的基础上指出，不能盲目满足于现有地质储量，而应密切注视商业铀储量和发展核电对铀的需求量之间的关系。最后，在综合分析全球铀经济地质形势的基础上，认为我国应把地质工作重点转移到以寻找低成本铀资源为中心的轨道上来，     

把握新机遇实现新发展为实现我局"十五"改革发展目标任务而努力奋斗

这次会议是进入新世纪我局第一次工作会议,是一次总结过去,谋划未来的重要会议,开好这次会议对我局在新世纪实现新发展有着十分重要的意义.会议的主要内容是认真学习温家宝副总理的重要讲话精神,总结回顾"九五"地矿工作改革发展的基本情况,讨论修改我局"十五"改革发展纲要、"十五"前三年经济责任制考核办法和精神文明建设考核办法,安排部署2001年工作.下面我代表局党组作工作报告.     

新时期农村产业结构优化调整研究

通过在农村长期的工作实践和对农村经济发展的考察,依据当前国内外发展对农村产业经济发展的要求,分析研究我国和河南省农村产业结构的发展现状和动态变化,提出农村产业结构调整的指导思想、原则及目标,据此,从农村产业结构调整、农业产业结构调整和种植业结构调整3个层次,研究提出农村产业结构调整的基本思路和方向,为有关部门决策农村经济发展提供科学依据.     

经济合作区域的选择方法研究——以云南在泛珠三角中选择重点合作省区为例

从成功的区域合作经验看,区域间的差异性和联系性是选择经济合作区域必须考虑的两大核心因素.通过多种指标对两大因素进行测度和分析,最终正确选择合作区域.泛珠三角合作为云南经济发展提供难得机遇,云南如何立足自身优势,正确选择重点合作省区,关系到合作的最终成效.从云南与泛珠三角其他省区间的经济发展差异、产业结构差异、优劣势条件、综合距离系数以及历史联系等角度分析,提出了云南应把广东、广西、四川、香港作为重点合作省区.     

水利经济系统运行评价指标的动力学模型

根据最优控制理论,建立了相应于工程动力系统中能量指标的水利经济系统运行效益的动力学评价模型,提出了水利经济系统的“弹性”、“质量”等模态特征量及“动能”、“势能”等系统特征量的表达形式,并应用于江苏水利经济系统的实证分析,计算结果反映了所建能量指标的合理性与可行性.
