Turbulent Intensities and Velocity Spectra for Bare and Forested Gentle Hills: Flume Experiments 总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
To investigate how velocity variances and spectra are modified by the simultaneous action of topography and canopy, two flume
experiments were carried out on a train of gentle cosine hills differing in surface cover. The first experiment was conducted
above a bare surface while the second experiment was conducted within and above a densely arrayed rod canopy. The velocity
variances and spectra from these two experiments were compared in the middle, inner, and near-surface layers. In the middle
layer, and for the canopy surface, longitudinal and vertical velocity variances () were in phase with the hill-induced spatial mean velocity perturbation (Δu) around the so-called background state (taken here as the longitudinal mean at a given height) as predicted by rapid distortion
theory (RDT). However, for the bare surface case, and remained out of phase with Δu by about L/2, where L is the hill half-length. In the canopy layer, wake production was a significant source of turbulent energy for , and its action was to re-align velocity variances with Δu in those layers, a mechanism completely absent for the bare surface case. Such a lower ‘boundary condition’ resulted in longitudinal
variations of to be nearly in phase with Δu above the canopy surface. In the inner and middle layers, the spectral distortions by the hill remained significant for the
background state of the bare surface case but not for the canopy surface case. In particular, in the inner and middle layers
of the bare surface case, the effective exponents derived from the locally measured power spectra diverged from their expected
− 5/3 value for inertial subrange scales. These departures spatially correlated with the hill surface. However, for the canopy
surface case, the spectral exponents were near − 5/3 above the canopy though the minor differences from − 5/3 were also
correlated with the hill surface. Inside the canopy, wake production and energy short-circuiting resulted in significant departures
from − 5/3. These departures from − 5/3 also appeared correlated with the hill surface through the wake production contribution
and its alignment with Δu. Moreover, scales commensurate with Von Karman street vorticies well described wake production scales inside the canopy,
confirming the important role of the mean flow in producing wakes. The spectra inside the canopy on the lee side of the hill,
where a negative mean flow delineated a recirculation zone, suggested that the wake production scales there were ‘broader’
when compared to their counterpart outside the recirculation zone. Inside the recirculation zone, there was significantly
more energy at higher frequencies when compared to regions outside the recirculation zone. 相似文献

根据1995--2004年濮阳高新区气象和洪灾实况资料,分析了洪灾时空分布及城市经济损失特征.采用分等级、分资源类型的参数统计、回归分析和加权平均等方法,探讨了洪灾损失的评估步骤和技术方法,建立了城市洪灾损失的定量评估系统模型.选用2005--2006年濮阳高新区典型的洪灾事例验证该方法、模型的可行性,结果表明,洪灾损失评估定量计算结果与社会经济损失调查统计数据比较接近.结论认为:洪灾损失评估模型能够快速、准确地对洪灾损失作出定量评估,技术方法是可行、可操作的,为政府指挥防洪抗灾提供理论分析有一定的使用价值. 相似文献

我们曾论述了地球系统100~108年变化的原因[1], 唯对10-1年(月一年)的地球系统变化未指出其变化原因。经过近年的研究, 现在可以明确地指出, 地球内部有两类流体: 地外核和岩石圈裂隙中地下流体(地气)的活动是引发10-1年地球系统变化的原因。外核的上升运动会使其上部岩石圈产生上抬和压缩, 在地表层就出现3.2 m地温升高和降水减少的“干热异常”, 经过“孕震三步曲”最终引发构造地震。外核的下降运动会使其上部岩石圈产生下沉和拉张作用, 地表层表现为3.2 m地温降低, 同时降水增多的“湿冷异常”, 最终可导致发生陷落地震。外核的脉冲运动是引发岩石圈中形成地热(冷)涡的“源”。地气环流也是旋转地球上的一种流体运动, 其特征速度(地下风速)约为0.2 m/s, 据此可推得“自然气候周期”约为8个月。地气环流是使地气系统得以“流”的动力源。地热(冷)涡的“源”、 “流”相结合是使短期气候呈现纷繁复杂变化的原因。 相似文献

The BeppoSAX Catalog has been very recently published. In this paper we analyze—using the Maximum Likelihood (ML) method—the
duration distribution of the 1003 GRBs listed in the catalog with duration. The ML method can identify the long and the intermediate
duration groups. The short population of the bursts is identified only at a 96% significance level. MC simulation has been
also applied and gives a similar significance level; 95%. However, the existence of the short bursts is not a scientific question
after the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory’s observation. Our minor result is this well-known fact that in the BeppoSAX data
the short bursts are under-represented, mainly caused by the different triggering system. Our major result is the identification
of the intermediate group in the BeppoSAX data. Therefore, four different satellites (CGRO, Swift, RHESSI and BeppoSAX) observed

Detecting redshifted 21-cm emission from neutral hydrogen in the early Universe promises to give direct constraints on the epoch of reionization (EoR). It will, though, be very challenging to extract the cosmological signal (CS) from foregrounds and noise which are orders of magnitude larger. Fortunately, the signal has some characteristics which differentiate it from the foregrounds and noise, and we suggest that using the correct statistics may tease out signatures of reionization. We generate mock data cubes simulating the output of the Low Frequency Array (LOFAR) EoR experiment. These cubes combine realistic models for Galactic and extragalactic foregrounds and the noise with three different simulations of the CS. We fit out the foregrounds, which are smooth in the frequency direction, to produce residual images in each frequency band. We denoise these images and study the skewness of the one-point distribution in the images as a function of frequency. We find that, under sufficiently optimistic assumptions, we can recover the main features of the redshift evolution of the skewness in the 21-cm signal. We argue that some of these features – such as a dip at the onset of reionization, followed by a rise towards its later stages – may be generic, and give us a promising route to a statistical detection of reionization. 相似文献

We study the formation of galaxies in a Λ cold dark matter (ΛCDM) universe using high-resolution hydrodynamical simulations with a multiphase treatment of gas, cooling and feedback, focusing on the formation of discs. Our simulations follow eight isolated haloes similar in mass to the Milky Way and extracted from a large cosmological simulation without restriction on spin parameter or merger history. This allows us to investigate how the final properties of the simulated galaxies correlate with the formation histories of their haloes. We find that, at z = 0 , none of our galaxies contains a disc with more than 20 per cent of its total stellar mass. Four of the eight galaxies nevertheless have well-formed disc components, three have dominant spheroids and very small discs, and one is a spheroidal galaxy with no disc at all. The z = 0 spheroids are made of old stars, while discs are younger and formed from the inside-out. Neither the existence of a disc at z = 0 nor the final disc-to-total mass ratio seems to depend on the spin parameter of the halo. Discs are formed in haloes with spin parameters as low as 0.01 and as high as 0.05; galaxies with little or no disc component span the same range in spin parameter. Except for one of the simulated galaxies, all have significant discs at z ≳ 2 , regardless of their z = 0 morphologies. Major mergers and instabilities which arise when accreting cold gas is misaligned with the stellar disc trigger a transfer of mass from the discs to the spheroids. In some cases, discs are destroyed, while in others, they survive or reform. This suggests that the survival probability of discs depends on the particular formation history of each galaxy. A realistic ΛCDM model will clearly require weaker star formation at high redshift and later disc assembly than occurs in our models. 相似文献

We constrain the distance of the gamma-ray burst (GRB) prompt emission site from the explosion centre R , by determining the location of the electron's self-absorption frequency in the GRB prompt optical-to-X/γ-ray spectral energy distribution, assuming that the optical and the γ-ray emissions are among the same synchrotron radiation continuum of a group of hot electrons. All possible spectral regimes are considered in our analysis. The method has only two assumed parameters, namely the bulk Lorentz factor of the emitting source Γ and the magnetic field strength B in the emission region (with a weak dependence). We identify a small sample of four bursts that satisfy the following three criteria: (1) they all have simultaneous optical and γ-ray detections in multiple observational time intervals, (2) they all show temporal correlations between the optical and γ-ray light curves and (3) the optical emission is consistent with belonging to the same spectral component as the γ-ray emission. For all the time intervals of these four bursts, it is inferred that R ≥ 1014 (Γ/300)3/4 ( B /105 G)1/4 cm. For a small fraction of the sample, the constraint can be pinned down to R ≈ 1014 –1015 cm for Γ∼ 300 . For a second sample of bursts with prompt optical non-detections, only upper limits on R can be obtained. We find no inconsistency between the R -constraints for this non-detection sample and those for the detection sample. 相似文献
