基于GeoDa的爱丁堡市犯罪行为与位置关系分析

近年来,犯罪和暴力问题已经成为人们重点关注的社会热点问题,其严重影响社会和谐以及人民日常生活质量.暴力犯罪行为可能由于多种原因引起,其中之一就是就业情况.公众普遍认为,高失业率将引发高犯罪率,因此检测就业情况与犯罪行为之间的关系就显得尤为重要.本文将主要针对不同类型犯罪行为以及总犯罪率与失业率之间的关系进行分析,以便分析其中的关系和联系.在GeoDa软件的帮助下,可以形成一系列图表来帮助得到需要的结果.暴力犯罪、毒品犯罪和入室犯罪将作为典型犯罪类型进行单独分析.从1980年开始,苏格兰政府开始进行了一系列的统计,其主要目的是检测苏格兰地区的所有基本参数以便为苏格兰研究机构提供帮助.本文基于苏格兰政府SIMD统计参数,并主要针对爱丁堡这一苏格兰政治经济中心同时也是苏格兰首府进行分析.     

From Soda Bottles To Super Labs: An Analysis Of North America's Dual Methamphetamine Production Networks

This article uses the global production network perspective to analyze the various actors involved in the production and distribution of methamphetamine in North America. The paper analyzes the organization and operation of the two dominant network typologies at work in the United States: small toxic labs and Mexican drug‐trafficking organizations. Particular emphasis is placed on how the networks have adapted to changes in the regulatory context in which they operate. I conclude with potential policy recommendations for curtailing methamphetamine production within both networks.     

Beyond anecdotal evidence: Do subsidized housing developments increase neighborhood crime?

While planners and policymakers have advocated the need for project-based subsidized housing, they often face the challenge of strong community opposition due to the negative perceptions of subsidized housing and subsidized households, and the fear that these developments and residents would bring increased crime. This paper aims to extend beyond anecdotal evidence by examining the impact of a popular U.S. affordable housing program, the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, on neighborhood crime rates. We estimate the levels and trends in neighborhood crime before and after LIHTC developments, based on crime incidents data from 2000 to 2009 in Austin, Texas, using the Adjusted Interrupted Time Series–Difference in Differences (AITS–DID) approach to clarify the causal direction of impacts of LIHTC developments. Results show that LIHTC subsidized housing tended to be developed in neighborhoods where crime was already prevalent, and contrary to popular perception, LIHTC developments have a mitigating impact on neighborhood crime. These results suggest that LIHTC developments may be an effective tool for revitalizing distressed neighborhoods by ameliorating the “broken windows” problem and reducing neighborhood crime.

Leveraging parallel spatio-temporal computing for crime analysis in large datasets: analyzing trends in near-repeat phenomenon of crime in cities

ABSTRACT

Crime often clusters in space and time. Near-repeat patterns improve understanding of crime communicability and their space–time interactions. Near-repeat analysis requires extensive computing resources for the assessment of statistical significance of space–time interactions. A computationally intensive Monte Carlo simulation-based approach is used to evaluate the statistical significance of the space-time patterns underlying near-repeat events. Currently available software for identifying near-repeat patterns is not scalable for large crime datasets. In this paper, we show how parallel spatial programming can help to leverage spatio-temporal simulation-based analysis in large datasets. A parallel near-repeat calculator was developed and a set of experiments were conducted to compare the newly developed software with an existing implementation, assess the performance gain due to parallel computation, test the scalability of the software to handle large crime datasets and assess the utility of the new software for real-world crime data analysis. Our experimental results suggest that, efficiently designed parallel algorithms that leverage high-performance computing along with performance optimization techniques could be used to develop software that are scalable with large datasets and could provide solutions for computationally intensive statistical simulation-based approaches in crime analysis.     

顾及时间效应的周围人口与视频监控对街头抢劫者作案地选择的影响研究

作案地选择是犯罪地理学的研究主题,但以往研究侧重考虑建成环境和社会环境的影响,缺乏研究周围人口与视频监控的作用。为弥补这一不足,论文以中国ZG市为例,利用离散空间选择模型,检验周围人口和视频监控对街头抢劫者作案地选择的影响,并尝试验证其时间效应。结果表明：① 周围人口与视频监控对街头抢劫者作案地选择均存在显著负影响,但两者的作用强度有所差异,即它们均能抑制街头抢劫的发生,但周围人口的监护作用大于视频监控的威慑作用;② 在周内日变化上,周围人口和视频监控的监护作用具有时间平稳性;但在日内时变化上,周围人口的影响呈现出时间波动性,而视频监控的影响却保持时间稳定特性。研究结果对警务防控和犯罪研究具有重要的参考意义,如：① 开展社会治安视频监控系统防控效果的实验评估,并对其布设位置进行动态优化与调整;② 在城市规划或城市更新时安排适量的混合功能用地,以在规划或管理上加强对周围人口的适度调节;③ 未来时间效应研究应重点关注日变化规律。     

基于风险地形建模的毒品犯罪风险评估和警务预测

犯罪具有明显的时空特征,研究犯罪问题离不开时间和空间维度分析,以及产生犯罪的社会、地理、生态、环境等因素。风险地形建模是美国学者研发的空间风险评估和警务预测技术,已在全球六大洲45个国家和美国35个州得到了独立测试和验证,被广泛应用于警务预测、国土安全、交通事故、公共医疗、儿童虐待、环境污染、城市发展等多个领域。在毒品、纵火、爆炸、强奸、抢劫、盗窃等犯罪研究领域更是取得了显著成果。本文运用犯罪热点分析和风险地形建模,以长三角地区N市毒品犯罪为研究对象,对该市2015年毒品犯罪的危险因子、空间盲区、风险地形进行分析,探索毒品犯罪的生成机理和演化规律,并对2016年毒品犯罪进行预测。研究结果表明,N市毒品犯罪呈现明显的犯罪热点和冷点;出租屋、酒店、车站、ATM机、停车场、娱乐场所、城市快速路、网吧是N市毒品犯罪的风险性因素。风险地形建模能较好地预测毒品犯罪。公安机关禁毒部门应据此进行严密管控,逐步限制、消除犯罪产生地、犯罪吸引地、犯罪促进地的生存土壤和条件。     

Television drama and the urban diegesis: portraying Albuquerque in Breaking Bad

Albuquerque, New Mexico is the filming location and setting of the popular television drama Breaking Bad (2008–2013). Albuquerque is not merely a passive backdrop to the action in the show but a focal point of the series. So much so that in the geographical imaginations of many, Albuquerque and Breaking Bad have become synonymous with each other. This paper critically examines the representation of urban life within the show. To do this it draws upon and expands the existing multi-disciplinary literature on cities and films/television. As well as focusing on the influence of setting and filming the show in Albuquerque on the urban diegesis (i.e. the on-screen city), it also examines three visions of Albuquerque that are projected through the show: (1) Albuquerque as a crime-ridden city; (2) Albuquerque as a spatially divided city; and (3) Albuquerque as a city to escape from.     

基于临近相似性考虑的犯罪热点密度图预测准确性比较——以DP半岛街头抢劫犯罪为例

在无时空考虑的密度估计算法基础上,分别加入了案件点之间的时间临近相似性、空间临近相似性和时空临近相似性的考虑,利用DP半岛2006~2007年的街头抢劫犯罪数据为基础计算无时空临近相似性、时间临近相似性、空间临近相似性和时空临近相似性4种不同算法所得到的犯罪热点图,并以之预测2008年的街头抢劫。通过Natural breaks（Jenks）分级方法和等比例面积选取两种方式来划定热点区域进行预测并进行PAI指数得分比较,结果表明时空临近相似性的密度估计算方法在犯罪预测的优势比较显著。
