The development of a thin peat layer over metamorphic rock during the last cold stage in the Louisa and Melaleuca Plains and at Birch's Inlet, Tasmania, has recently been reported. This paper presents results of a numerical model on permafrost growth and decay, which explores the possibility of the development of a thin layer of permafrost for this particular depositional setting at the end of the last cold stage in Tasmania. The increase in thermal conductivity of peat sediments under frozen conditions results in a preferred penetration of the cold winter wave (in comparison to the summer wave) into the subsurface. The results of the model calculations suggest the development of a several metres‐thick permafrost layer, even under slightly positive mean annual temperatures in the region. 相似文献

雨洪资源地下回灌是缓解城市供水压力、解决地下水过量开采引起环境负效应的有效途径之一,但堵塞问题却是制约回灌技术推广的关键问题。基于前人理论,研究了入渗介质与悬浮物粒径中值之比(D50/d50)对堵塞层空间分布的影响。以建立表面堵塞预测模型为目的,利用城市雨水回灌细粒石英砂介质开展室内实验,观测雨水回灌的表面堵塞过程并获取渗透性变化的观测数据。根据物理、化学与生物堵塞的产生条件及堵塞特点,判断雨水回灌产生的堵塞性质为物理堵塞。引入过滤模型描述堵塞的发展过程,确定了模型用于模拟细砂表面堵塞的参数值:孔隙堵塞系数(α)为0.15 m2/kg,阻力增长系数(f′R′)为20 000 m/kg。在不改变以上2个参数值的条件下,用该模型模拟不同悬浮物粒径悬浊水回灌细粒石英砂的堵塞过程,取得了较好的拟合效果。此过滤模型可以用于模拟入渗介质与悬浮物粒径D50/d50值小于5的表面堵塞的发展过程,可定量预测堵塞对回灌速率的影响。 相似文献

In this study, soil samples collected from the sides of two streams with high debris flow potential at Shenmu and Fengchiou
village in Nantou County, Taiwan, were used for seepage tank tests in the laboratory. While the tests were being conducted,
observations were made to investigate the relationships among displacement of the slope, quality of the seepage water and
occurrence of mass movement. The results showed that according to the change rate, displacement could be divided into two
stages, namely, the initial failure displacement stage and primary failure displacement stage. While the displacement of the
slope was in primary failure displacement stages, the probability of slope failure became much higher. Before general slope
failure, electrical conductivity (EC) and sulfate ion (SO4
2−) concentration of the seepage water increased significantly. The time when EC of the seepage water started to increase rapidly
was much earlier than that when displacement of the slope started to increase significantly. Therefore, from the hazard mitigation

Geothermal gradients are estimated to vary from 31 to 43 °C/km in the Yinggehai Basin based on 99 temperature data sets compiled from oil well data. Thirty-seven thermal conductivity measurements on core samples were made and the effects of porosity and water saturation were corrected. Thermal conductivities of mudstone and sandstone range from 1.2 to 2.7 W/m K, with a mean of 2.0±0.5 W/m K after approximate correction. Heat flow at six sites in the Yinggehai Basin range from 69 to 86 mW/m2, with a mean value of 79±7 mW/m2. Thick sediments and high sedimentation rates resulted in a considerable radiogenic contribution, but also depressed the heat flow. Measurements indicate the radiogenic heat production in the sediment is 1.28 μW/m3, which contributes 20% to the surface heat flow. After subtracting radiogenic heat contribution of the sediment, and sedimentation correction, the average basal heat flow from basement is about 86 mW/m2.Three stages of extension are recognized in the subsidence history, and a kinematic model is used to study the thermal evolution of the basin since the Cenozoic era. Model results show that the peak value of basal heat flow was getting higher and higher through the Cenozoic. The maximum basal heat flow increased from 65 mW/m2 in the first stage to 75 mW/m2 in the second stage, and then 90 mW/m2 in the third stage. The present temperature field of the lithosphere of the Yinggehai Basin, which is still transient, is the result of the multistage extension, but was primarily associated with the Pliocene extension. 相似文献

Abstract The effects of spatial variation of the saturated hydraulic conductivity (K s ) of the soil on the variation of overland flow were tested by analysing 2000 synthetic rainfall—runoff events, all generated from real, observed rainfall events but with runoff modelled by a two-dimensional distributed model using different spatially variable K s fields in a small (12 ha) agricultural catchment. The purpose is to determine the influence of spatial variation in K s on runoff generation. The statistical measures used to describe the variation in the generated K s were its coefficient of variation and correlation length. Both of these had two levels of typical values obtained from field measurements in other studies. The storms were analysed at a general event level, first using simple graphical and statistical methods and then using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The observed scale of the spatial variation of K s does cause statistically significant variation in overland flow. The graphical analysis showed that the first flow peak in a multi-event storm had the largest variation and that differences were greater in the rising part of the hydrograph than in its recession. The greatest variation in overland flow was produced by the combination of the greater coefficient of variation and the longer correlation lengths. The smallest variation in overland flow was produced by the combination of the smaller coefficient of variation and the shorter correlation lengths. ANOVA showed that the coefficient of variation and correlation length alone did not explain all the variation of the total flow. ANOVA was not very useful due to the many restrictive assumptions that were not satisfied by the nature of the data and therefore analysis methods with less restrictive assumptions need to be tested. 相似文献

ABSTRACTFloodplains are composed of complex depositional patterns of ancient and recent stream sediments, and research is needed to address the manner in which coarse floodplain materials affect stream–groundwater exchange patterns. Efforts to understand the heterogeneity of aquifers have utilized numerous techniques typically focused on point-scale measurements; however, in highly heterogeneous settings, the ability to model heterogeneity is dependent on the data density and spatial distribution. The objective of this research was to investigate the correlation between broad-scale methodologies for detecting heterogeneity and the observed spatial variability in stream/groundwater interactions of gravel-dominated alluvial floodplains. More specifically, this study examined the correlation between electrical resistivity (ER) and alluvial groundwater patterns during a flood event at a site on Barren Fork Creek, in the Ozark ecoregion of Oklahoma, USA, where chert gravels were common both as streambed and as floodplain material. Water table elevations from groundwater monitoring wells for a flood event on 1–5 May 2009 were compared to ER maps at various elevations. Areas with high ER matched areas with lower water table slope at the same elevation. This research demonstrated that ER approaches were capable of indicating heterogeneity in surface water–groundwater interactions, and that these heterogeneities were present even in an aquifer matrix characterized as highly conductive. Portions of gravel-dominated floodplain vadose zones characterized by high hydraulic conductivity features can result in heterogeneous flow patterns when the vadose zone of alluvial floodplains activates during storm events.

Abstract Electromagnetic induction measurements (EM) were taken in a saline gypsiferous soil of the Saharan-climate Fatnassa oasis (Tunisia) to predict the electrical conductivity of saturated soil extract (ECe) and shallow groundwater properties (depth, Dgw, and electrical conductivity, ECgw) using various models. The soil profile was sampled at 0.2 m depth intervals to 1.2 m for physical and chemical analysis. The best input to predict the log-transformed soil salinity (lnECe) in surface (0–0.2 m) soil was the EMh/EMv ratio. For the 0–0.6 m soil depth interval, the performance of multiple linear regression (MLR) models to predict lnECe was weaker using data collected over various seasons and years (R a 2 = 0.66 and MSE = 0.083 dS m-1) as compared to those collected during the same period (R a 2 = 0.97, MSE = 0.007 dS m-1). For similar seasonal conditions, for the Dgw–EMv relationship, R 2 was 0.88 and the MSE was 0.02 m for Dgw prediction. For a validation subset, the R 2 was 0.85 and the MSE was 0.03 m. 针对2012年5月28日河北唐山M 4.8地震,采用地磁谐波振幅比方法,分析昌黎、静海、红山及承德地磁台2007年1月至2015年12月地磁观测数据,结果显示:各台站10 min周期的计算结果波动性明显,其他周期形态较为一致;距震中最近的昌黎地磁台YZHx(NS)测向的10-40 min周期地磁谐波在下降至极低值后,开始转折时发生地震,而YZHy(EW)测向未出现明显转折现象;位于河北平原地震带中部的静海地磁台对此次地震反应显著,2个测向在震前均出现下降-转折-上升的变化特征。通过对比位于不同地区的4个地磁台站地磁谐波振幅比变化,发现受大范围整体构造应力场作用的影响,计算结果具有相似的趋势性变化特征,具体到局部地区或断裂带内部,各台站之间显示出一定差异。 相似文献
