Mean orbital elements are obtained from osculating ones by removing the short periodic perturbations. Large catalogues of asteroid mean elements need to be computed, as a first step in the computation of proper elements, used to study asteroid families. The algorithms for this purpose available so far are only accurate to first order in the masses of the perturbing planet; the mean elements have satisfactory accuracy for most of the asteroid belt, but degraded accuracy in the neighbourhoods of the main mean motion resonances, especially the 2:1. We investigate a number of algorithms capable of improving this approximation; they belong to the two classes of Breiter-type methods and iterative methods. The former are obtained by applying some higher order numerical integration scheme, such as Runge–Kutta, to the differential equation whose solution is a transformation removing the fast angular variables from the equations; they can be used to compute a full second order theory, however, only if the full second order determining function is explicitly computed, and this is computationally too cumbersome for a complicated problem such as the N-body. The latter are fixed point iterative schemes, with the first order theory as an iteration step, used to compute the inverse map from mean to osculating elements; formally the method is first order, but because they implement a fixed frequency perturbation theory, they are more accurate than conventional single iteration methods; a similar method is already in use in our computation of proper from mean elements. Many of these methods are tested on a sample of asteroid orbits taken from the Themis family, up to the edge of the 2:1 resonance, and the dispersion of the values of the computed mean semimajor axis over 100 000 years is used as quality control. The results of these tests indicate that the iterative methods are superior, in this specific application, to the Breiter methods, in accuracy and reliability. This is understood as the result of the cancellations occurring between second order perturbation terms: the incomplete second order theory, resulting from the use of a Breiter method with the first order determining function only, can be less accurate than complete, fixed frequency theories of the first order. We have therefore computed new catalogues of asteroid mean and proper elements, incorporating an iterative algorithm in both steps (osculating to mean and mean to proper elements). This new data set, significantly more reliable even in the previously degraded regions of Themis and Cybele, is in the public domain. The detection and identification of carbonates on Mars are of prime importance to establish the evolution of its atmosphere, correlated to the history of the liquid water, or even to determine the existence of a possible ancient biological activity. Till date, no large deposits of carbonates have been found. In fact, their detection is specific to local areas and in very low amounts. The absence of such deposits is commonly attributed to the harsh environmental conditions at the surface of Mars. Additionally, the presence of UV radiation has been proposed to explain their photodecomposition and hence their absence. However, contradictory results from laboratory experiments mimicking Mars’ surface UV radiation did not resolve the behaviour of carbonates in such an environment, which is why we exposed, in low Earth orbit and in laboratory experiments, both abiotic and biotic calcium carbonates to UV radiation of wavelength above 200 nm, the same spectral distribution as the one reaching the surface of Mars. For low Earth orbit (LEO) exposure, this was done for the UVolution experiment on board the BIOPAN ESA module, which was set outside a Russian Foton automated capsule, and exposed to space conditions for 12 days in September 2007. The targeted carbonates are biominerals and abiotic samples. Our laboratory results mainly show that the exposed carbonates appear to be stable to UV radiation if directly exposed to it. The LEO experiment results tend to the same conclusion, but the integrated exposition time to Solar UV during the experiment is not sufficient to be conclusive. However, the stability of the biominerals derived from the laboratory experiment could strengthen the interest to explore deeper their potential as life records at Mars. Hence, they should be considered as primary targets for in situ analyses during future missions.  相似文献

The attempts at unified model fitting to explain the spectral variations in Cyg X-3 suggest equally probable fits with a combination of an absorbed blackbody and a separately absorbed power law with an exponential cut-off or a composite of absorbed free-free emission with a power law hard X-ray component apart from the iron emission line. These seemingly ordinary but ad hoc mixtures of simple X-ray emission mechanisms have a profound implication about the geometry of the X-ray source. While the first set suggests a black-hole nature of the compact object, the second combination is consistent with a neutron star binary picture. The spectral variability at hard X-ray energies above 30 keV can provide crucial input for the unified picture. In this paper, we present spectral observations of Cyg X-3, made in our on-going survey of galactic and extragalactic X-ray sources in the 20–200 keV energy region, using Large Area Scintillation counter Experiment. The data show a clear power-law photon spectrum of the form dN/dE ∼ E−2.8 in the 20 to 130 keV energy range. A comparison with earlier data suggests that the total number of X-ray photons in the entire 2–500 keV energy band is conserved at all time for a given luminosity level irrespective of the state. We propose that this behaviour can be explained by a simple geometry in which a thermal X-ray source is embedded in a hot plasma formed by winds from the accretion disk within a cold shell. The high/soft and low/hard X-ray states of the source are simply the manifestation of the extent of the surrounding scattering medium in which the seed photons are Comptonized and hot plasma can be maintained by either the X-ray driven winds or the magneto-centrifugal winds.  相似文献

Statistical characteristics of detectable inhomogeneities [IHs] in more than 600 observed meteorological time series have been investigated using 16 objective homogenisation methods. Forty and 100 year long series of monthly or annual characteristics of surface air temperature, precipitation total and relative air humidity from the Czech Republic and Hungary were examined. The area of the part of the Czech observing network used here is smaller, and the density of sites is larger, than in the Hungarian network, resulting in higher spatial correlations among data in the Czech dataset relative to the Hungarian dataset. Time series with low number of gaps were supplied with interpolated data. Before homogenisation relative time series were created, using weighted averages of time series from the same geographical region as reference series. For ease of comparison, the magnitudes of the detected IHs are normalised with the standard deviation of the noise in the relative time series. Results show that observed meteorological time series usually contain large number of small IHs, and that the magnitude distribution of IHs from different data segments are surprisingly similar. Effects of different spatial coherences on the results are discussed.  相似文献

The Qinling-Daba Mountains are the main body of China's North-South Transitional Zone.Analysis of the north-south gradual variation of vegetation components is significant for understanding the structural diversity and complexity of this transitional zone.In this study,based on survey data of plant communities,the eastern Qinling-Daba Mountains is divided into four geographic units:the north flank of eastern Qinling Mts.,south flank of eastern Qinling Mts.,north flank of eastern Daba Mts.and south flank of eastern Daba Mts.We also explore division of regional climate according to areal differentiation of plant-species,com-munity structure and species-richness,respectively.The results show that,(1)at plant-species level,there are mainly northern plants in north flank of eastern Qinling Mts.with evergreen species and fewer northern plants in south flank of eastern Qinling Mts.;there are mainly southern plants in eastern Daba Mts.(2)At community structure level,there are 4 formations(3 northern formations and 1 widespread formation)in north flank of eastern Qinling,6 formations(3 northern formations,1 southern formation,and 2 widespread forma-tions)in south flank of eastern Qinling,4 formations(2 southern formations and 2 widespread formations)in north flank of eastern Daba Mts.,and 3 formations(3 southern formations)in south flank of eastern Daba Mts.In terms of the numbers and properties of formations,there is a mixture of northern and southern formations only in the south flank of eastern Qinling Mts.(3)At species-richness level,the diversity of families,genera and species decreased with increasing latitude,but the mixing of northern plants and the southern plants began to occur in south flank of eastern Qinling Mts.This means that the south flank of the eastern Qinling Mts.serves more suitably as the dividing line between China's warm temperate and sub-tropical zones.  相似文献

对比分析了随机结构动力可靠度计算的三种估计算法.渐进展开法是基于Laplace算法对概率积分进行渐进估计的,此法通过计算最大被积分式值对应点,并将其代入概率积分的渐进估计表达式求解失效概率.由于概率积分的主要贡献来自于最大被积分式值对应点的周围,因此本文的重要抽样法假定重要抽样函数的最大似然值等于最大被积分式值对应点值.极值分布-泰勒展开法首先通过结构随机参数的极值分布函数给出失效概率的表达式,随后利用泰勒展开法对失效概率进行估计,其中采用中心差分法对极值分布函数的梯度进行估算.最后应用三种算法和Monte Carlo法对受高斯白噪声激励作用的单自由度随机结构进行了计算,结果表明三种方法不但运算简便,而且对比Monte Carlo法计算效率有显著提高.  相似文献

我国蛇绿岩分布广泛。蛇绿岩中有着成因上和时空上紧密联系的一系列非金属矿床,它们构成了蛇绿岩建造非金属矿床成矿系列。这一成矿系列中的主要非金属矿有橄榄岩、玄武岩、蛇纹岩、石棉、滑石、玉石类等等,主要的成矿作用有岩浆作用、接触变质作用、交代蚀变作用等。其成矿作用和矿床分布模式有明显规律,这些规律对于地质勘查、资源开发等都具有重要的意义。  相似文献
