Relations in year-to-year variability between wintertime Sea-Ice Concentrations (SICs) in the Okhotsk Sea and atmospheric
anomalies consisting of zonal and meridional 1000-hPa wind speeds and 850-hPa air temperatures are studied using a singular
value decomposition analysis. It is revealed that the late autumn (October–November) atmospheric conditions strongly influence
sea-ice variability from the same season (late autumn) through late winter (February—March), in which sea-ice extent is at
its maximum. The autumn atmospheric conditions for the positive sea-ice anomalies exhibit cold air temperature anomalies over
the Okhotsk Sea and wind anomalies blowing into the Okhotsk Sea from Siberia. These atmospheric conditions yield anomalous
ocean-to-atmosphere heat fluxes and cold sea surface temperature anomalies in the Okhotsk Sea. Hence, these results suggest
that the atmospheric conditions affect the sea-ice through heat anomalies stored in sea-ice and oceanic fields. The late autumn
atmosphere conditions are related to large 700-hPa geopotential height anomalies over the Bering Sea and northern Eurasia,
which are related to a stationary Rossby wave propagation over the North Pacific and that from the North Atlantic to Eurasia,
respectively. In addition, the late autumn atmospheric preconditioning also plays an important role in the decreasing trend
in the Okhotsk sea-ice extent observed from 1980 to the mid-1990s. Based on the lagged sea-ice response to the late autumn
atmosphere, a simple seasonal prediction scheme is proposed for the February–March sea-ice extent using four-month leading
atmospheric conditions. This scheme explains 45% of the variance of the Okhotsk sea-ice extent. 相似文献

This paper presents numerical solutions for the wave reflection from submerged porous structures in front of the impermeable vertical breakwater. A new time-dependent mild-slope equation involves the parameters of the porous medium including the porosity, the friction factor and the inertia coefficient, etc. is derived for solving the boundary value problem. A comprehensive comparison between the present model and the existing analytical solution for the case of simple rectangular geometries of the submerged structure is performed first. Then, more complicated cases such as the inclined and trapezoidal submerged porous structures in front of the vertical breakwater with sloping bottom are considered. This study also examines the effects of the permeable properties and the geometric configurations of the porous structure to the wave reflection. It is found that the submerged porous structure with trapezoidal shape has more efficiency to reduce the wave reflection than that of triangular shape. The numerical results show that the minimum wave reflection is occurred when the breakwater is located at the intermediate water depth. 相似文献

本文应用奇异值分解方法给出同期和前期北太平洋海温与福建后汛期降水量相互匹配的空间典型分布型.分析结果表明,无论同期还是前期北太平洋海温与福建后汛期降水量之间均存在着清晰的遥相关.同期的赤道中东太平洋海温异常增高、日本以东洋面海温偏低,福建后汛期降水量偏少;另外,闽南地区后汛期降水量与同期NINO西海区和黑潮海区的海温成正相关关系.冬、春季出现厄尔尼诺现象时,次年福建尤其是闽南沿海后汛期降水量将偏少. 相似文献

The wave diffraction and radiation problem is studied numerically by using a higher-order boundary element method. The convergence of the higher-order boundary element method is tested systematically for bodies of different shapes. For the second-order force, particular attention is paid to the contribution of the second-order potential, following the line of Molin's approach. For numerical evaluation, the free surface is divided into three subregions; inner, intermediate and outer ones. In the inner region, the integral is evaluated numerically by using higher-order boundary elements. In the intermediate region, semi-analytic form is constructed with the help of eigen functions. The interannual variability of the Kuroshio volume transport passing through the 137°E meridian south of Japan was simulated
with an ocean general circulation model (OGCM). The time series of the Kuroshio volume transport over the 1000 m depth in
the OGCM is well reproduced by the one-dimensional quasi-geostrophic (QG) vorticity equation with a windstress forcing. In
our analysis of the OGCM and QG results, we found that peaks and troughs of the time series of the Kuroshio volume transport
with 2–3 yr time-scale were induced by windstress curl, both local and immediately eastward, whereas longer time-scale variability

An improvement on the simulation of outgoing waves on a time dependent numerical model for water wave propagation in the nearshore region is presented. The governing equations consist of a system of first order partial differential equations (PDEs), the equation of continuity and the equation of motion. A comparative study of first order radiation boundary conditions (BCs) and first order radiation BCs combined with sponge layers is presented for cases where outgoing waves leave the numerical domain of calculation through the open boundary. A reduction of spurious reflections from the numerical open boundaries can be obtained with an irrelevant increase in terms of computational cost. 相似文献
