Intraplate seismicity in the western Bohemian Massif (central Europe): A possible correlation with a paleoplate junction 总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
Locations of the Eger Rift, Cheb Basin, Quaternary volcanoes, crustal earthquake swarms and exhalation centers of CO2 and 3He of mantle origin correlate with the tectonic fabric of the mantle lithosphere modelled from seismic anisotropy. We suggest that positions of the seismic and volcanic phenomena, as well as of the Cenozoic sedimentary basins, correlate with a “triple junction” of three mantle lithospheres distinguished by different orientations of their tectonic fabric consistent within each unit. The three mantle domains most probably belong to the originally separated microcontinents – the Saxothuringian, Teplá-Barrandian and Moldanubian – assembled during the Variscan orogeny. Cenozoic extension reactivated the junction and locally thinned the crust and mantle lithosphere. The rigid part of the crust, characterized by the presence of earthquake foci, decoupled near the junction from the mantle probably during the Variscan. The boundaries (transitions) of three mantle domains provided open pathways for Quaternary volcanism and the ascent of 3He- and CO2-rich fluids released from the asthenosphere. The deepest earthquakes, interpreted as an upper limit of the brittle–ductile transition in the crust, are shallower above the junction of the mantle blocks (at about 12 km) than above the more stable Saxothuringian mantle lithosphere (at about 20 km), probably due to a higher heat flow and presence of fluids. 相似文献

The objective of this study is to perform life-cycle cost analysis on three design practices namely weak ground storey, short
and floating columns and their combinations. Life-cycle cost analysis is recognized as the only suitable tool for assessing
the structural performance when the structure is expected to be functional for a long period of time. Life-cycle cost analysis
is considered in this study assessing the behaviour of the three design practices against earthquake hazard. Although, a number
of checks are performed in order to reduce the influence of these design practices on the seismic behaviour of reinforced
concrete (RC) framed structures, it was found that the total life-cycle cost of partially infilled RC designs is significantly
increased compared to that of the fully infilled one. Through the test example examined in the framework of this study general

The “greatest lake period” means that the lakes are in the stage of their maximum areas. As the paleo lake shorelines are
widely distributed in the lake basins on the Tibetan Plateau, the lake areas during the “greatest lake period” may be inferred
by the last highest lake shorelines. They are several, even tens times larger than that at present. According to the analyses
of tens of lakes on the Plateau, most dating data fell into the range of 40-25 ka BP, some lasted to 20 ka BP. It was corresponded

This paper explores the relationship between the forestry enterprises (leskhozi) and the inhabitants of forestry villages
in the northern rayony of Perm oblast, Russian Federation in the context of the `new regional geography'. These relationships
are compared with those identified between peasant farmers and collective and state farms post-1991, and a theory of the cultivation
of these relationships as a coping mechanism for both households and enterprises facing difficult economic circumstances is
advanced. The situation in the northern rayony is contextualised through discussion of the settlement and development history
of the region, which was a recipient of forced and voluntary labour migration during the Soviet period. The paper concludes
that in accordance with recent theories of post-communist regional development, the experience of transition in the northern
rayony of Perm oblast is determined at least in part by its social and economic context.

The Sarek Dyke Swarm (SDS) crops out in the Sarektjåkkå Nappe (SN) of the Seve-Kalak Superterrane in the northern Swedish Caledonides. The SN has two main components: (1) a 4–5 km thick succession of rift-related sedimentary rocks, which is intruded by (2) a suite of tholeiitic dykes (the SDS) constituting 70–80% of the nappe. The nappe was deformed during Caledonian thrusting, but dykes and sedimentary rocks in the interior of the eastern parts of the SN are preserved in a pristine state. The tholeiitic dykes of the SDS commonly occur in sheeted dyke complexes, and up to 11 successive generations can be identified from crosscutting relations. The SN represents the fossil continent–ocean transition between the Baltic craton and the Iapetus Ocean, marking the initiation of seafloor spreading. Bubble-shaped pods and veinlets of diorite are present in the SDS sheeted dyke complexes. The pods are absent in the oldest dykes, but the younger a dyke, the more frequent the pods. The diorite pods are the equivalent of gabbro pegmatites, and both cogenetic and coeval with the dykes. The rapid successive emplacement of tholeiitic magma raised the ambient temperature in the dyke complex, so that crystallization in the youngest dykes mimicked similar processes in gabbro plutons. Six zircon fractions, from the diorite pods including two single grains, were analysed geochronologically by the U–Pb thermal ionization mass spectrometry method. The data yield a linear array of points that are 0.4–0.8% normally discordant, indicating a crystallization age of 608±1 Ma (207Pb/206Pb=607.9±0.7 Ma, MSWD=0.33). This age is inferred to date the onset of seafloor spreading in the Iapetus Ocean along the Baltoscandian margin. 相似文献
