Spectral measurement of Mkn 421 were made in the hard X-ray energy band of 20–200 keV using a high sensitivity, large area
scintillation counter telescope on November 21, 2000 and these coincided with the onset of an active X-ray phase as seen in
the ASM counting rates on board RXTE. The observed spectrum can not be fitted to a single power law similar to the PDS data
of BeppoSAX. The data can be fitted both by a two component power-law function or a combination of an exponential function
with a power law component at the high energies above 80 keV. We identify these components with those arising from the synchrotron
self compton and the high energy power-law tail arising from the upgrading of the thermal photons due to multiple Compton
scattering a la Cyg X-1. A comparison with the earlier data clearly suggests a spectral variability in the hard X-ray spectrum
of the source. We propose a continuously flaring geometry for the source as the underlying mechanism for energy release. 相似文献

We report the discovery of a bright blue quasar: SDSS J022218.03–062511.1. This object was discovered spectroscopically while searching for hot white dwarfs that may be used as calibration sources for large sky surveys such as the Dark Energy Survey or the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope project. Abstract The asymptotic and the no-z approximation methods of solving the axisymmetric mean field αΩ dynamo equation in a galactic disc are compared. The behaviour of the solutions is explored in both the linear and nonlinear regimes for a variety of dynamo parameters and two different rotation curves. If a magnetic field is frozen into a plasma that undergoes spherical compression, then the magnetic field B varies with the plasma density ρ according to B ∝ρ2/3 . In the gravitational collapse of cosmological density perturbations, however, quasi-spherical evolution is very unlikely. In anisotropic collapses the magnetic field can be a much steeper function of gas density than in the isotropic case. We investigate the distribution of amplifications in realistic gravitational collapses from Gaussian initial fluctuations using the Zel'dovich approximation. Representing our results using a relation of the form B ∝ρα , we show that the median value of α can be much larger than the value α= 2/3 resulting from spherical collapse, even if there is no initial correlation between magnetic field and principal collapse directions. These analytic arguments go some way towards understanding the results of numerical simulations. 相似文献
