Nonlocal moment equations allow one to render deterministically optimum predictions of flow in randomly heterogeneous media and to assess predictive uncertainty conditional on measured values of medium properties. We present a geostatistical inverse algorithm for steady-state flow that makes it possible to further condition such predictions and assessments on measured values of hydraulic head (and/or flux). Our algorithm is based on recursive finite-element approximations of exact first and second conditional moment equations. Hydraulic conductivity is parameterized via universal kriging based on unknown values at pilot points and (optionally) measured values at other discrete locations. Optimum unbiased inverse estimates of natural log hydraulic conductivity, head and flux are obtained by minimizing a residual criterion using the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. We illustrate the method for superimposed mean uniform and convergent flows in a bounded two-dimensional domain. Our examples illustrate how conductivity and head data act separately or jointly to reduce parameter estimation errors and model predictive uncertainty.This work is supported in part by NSF/ITR Grant EAR-0110289. post-Newtonian approximation) is the presence of the gravitational radiation. To simplify the problem the motion of the massive binary components is assumed to be quasi-circular. In terms of time these orbits have linearly changing radii and quadratically changing phase angles. By substituting this motion into the Newtonian-like equations of motion one gets the quasi-Newtonian restricted quasi-circular three-body problem sufficient to take into account the main indirect perturbations caused by the binary radiation terms. Infrared stimulated luminescence (IRSL) properties of the Old Crow tephra and bracketing loess from the Halfway House site in Central Alaska are investigated in order to test newly developed techniques, including SAR and recently proposed fading corrections. Loess samples investigated show a standard growth of luminescence with regenerative dose while the tephra sample is less sensitive by an order of magnitude and saturates at lower dose. The growth curves obtained using multiple-aliquots regeneration (MAR) saturate at a higher value than those with the single-aliquot regeneration (SAR) protocol. Fading rate determinations for these samples are shown to be imprecise and no noticeable difference was observed between loess and tephra materials. Anomalous fading corrections using an average g value of 5% are applied to the natural test dose signal intensity using the dose rate correction (DRC) method. IRSL ages obtained for loess are in agreement with the expected age while the tephra age is lower than expected, suggesting the measured fading rate is underestimated for this material. 相似文献

We consider the conservative two-body problem with a constant total mass, but with variable individual masses. The problem is shown to be completely integrable for any mass variation law. The Keplerian motion known for the classical two-body problem with constant masses remains valid for the relative motion of the bodies. The absolute motions of the bodies depend on the center-of-mass motion. Hitherto unknown quadratures that depend on the mass variation law were derived for the integrals of motion of the center of mass. We consider some of the laws that are of interest in studying the motion of close binary stars with mass transfer. 相似文献

彩色宝石品质分级标准对彩色宝石市场的形成与发展具有重要意义。彩色宝石品种的多样性和品质影响要素的复杂性,加上不同国家、地区或民族对彩色宝石颜色的偏好不同,在国际市场上要建立一个统一的彩色宝石品质分级评估体系困难重重。通过比较各彩色宝石聚集地(如美国、泰国、中国香港与大陆等)现有的彩色宝石品质分级评估体系,探讨了不同体系对其颜色、净度、切工分级的思想与方法。结果显示,目前国际上不同彩色宝石分级体系在颜色分级术语上强调的要素有一定的差异,对净度分级在思路上有明显的不同,对切工分级则在思路及技术操作上均存在明显差异。因此,要建立统一的国际彩色宝石品质分级体系尚需时日。最后提出,中国可以尝试以宝石的净度和透明度分级为先导,结合颜色、净度与切工分级设计新的彩色宝石二级递进制(时尚首饰级和宝石级)品质评估分级体系。 相似文献

A mathematical formulation of the 2·5D elastodynamic scattering problem is presented and validated. The formulation is a straightforward extension of the Discrete Wave number Boundary Integral Equation Method (DWBIEM) originally proposed by Kawase1 for 2D scattering problems and subsequently extended to the 3D problem by Kim and Papageorgiou.2 It is demonstrated that the Green's function which is appropriate for a boundary formulation of the 2·5D elastodynamic scattering problem is the one corresponding to a unit force moving on a straight line with constant velocity. Such a Green's function is derived in the present study. The formulation may be used to study the wavefields in models of sedimentary deposits (e.g. valleys) or topography (e.g. canyons or ridges) with a 2D variation in structure but obliquely incident plane waves. The advantage of a 2·5D formulation is that it provides the means for calculations of 3D wavefields in scattering problems by requiring a storage comparable to that of the corresponding 2D calculations. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献
