We continue the study of the properties of non-radial pulsations of strange dwarfs. These stars are essentially white dwarfs with a strange quark matter (SQM) core. We have previously shown that the spectrum of oscillations should be formed by several, well-detached clusters of modes inside which the modes are almost evenly spaced. Here, we study the relation between the characteristics of these clusters and the size of the SQM core. We do so assuming that, for a given cluster, the kinetic energy of the modes is constant. For a constant amplitude of the oscillation at the stellar surface, we find that the kinetic energy of the modes is very similar for the cases of models with Log Q SQM=−2, −3 and −4, while it is somewhat lower for  Log Q SQM=−5  (here   Q SQM≡ M SQM/ M ; M SQM  and M are the masses of the SQM core and the star, respectively). Remarkably, the shape (amplitude of the modes versus period of oscillation) of the clusters of periods is very similar. However, the number of modes inside each cluster is strongly (and non-monotonously) dependent upon the size of the SQM core.
The characteristics of the spectrum of oscillations of strange dwarf stars are very different from the ones corresponding to normal white dwarfs and should be, in principle, observable. Consequently, the stars usually considered as white dwarfs may indeed provide an interesting and affordable way to detect SQM in an astrophysical environment.  相似文献

通过对比分析TRACE195A和RHESSI的X射线及Ha的图像,发现2002年7月23日的X4.8级耀斑的主体是一个典型的双带耀斑,它的Ha及TRACE195A的图像都显现出明显的双带耀斑特征,TRACE195A的像还呈现一个环拱结构,其环拱的足点与TRACE的亮带并不重合,但TRACE的亮带与X射线像的位置对应很好.在耀斑极大时刻附近,大于38keV的X射线像呈现一个低的环跨在TRACE的双带上,X射线环的顶点及两足点尤其明显,在这个低的环上方,还存在一个在低能量段明显的X射线日冕源,对该耀斑的空间结构及演化特征作了描述,还简单地讨论了一个可能的理论解释.  相似文献

Supernova (SN) 2002ap in M74 was discovered on 2002 January 29. Being one of the nearest (10 Mpc) SN events in the last decades, and spectroscopically similar to the so-called 'hypernovae' 1997ef and 1998bw, both possibly associated with gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), it is of great interest. Shortly after its discovery, we launched an intensive photometric and spectroscopic monitoring campaign of this event, and here we report the results of the first month of observations. We use our UBVRI photometry to estimate the magnitudes at, and dates of, peak brightness. Our data suggest that this object reached its peak B -band luminosity on February     . Based on its similarity to SN 1998bw, we estimate the range of possible dates for a GRB that may have been associated with SN 2002ap. We find that it may include dates outside the time frame for which all available gamma-ray data have been intensively scanned, according to recent reports. The absolute magnitude at peak brightness of SN 2002ap  ( M B =-16.9)  shows that it was significantly fainter than SN 1998bw, or normal Type Ia SNe, but similar to SN 1997ef. Our spectroscopic observations confirm that SN 2002ap is strikingly similar to SNe 1998bw and 1997ef. We briefly describe the spectral evolution of this object. We computed the thermal time-dependent X-ray spectrum of a hot plasma in the vicinity of a gamma-ray burst (GRB). An allowance for time-dependent processes in a hot rarefied plasma is shown to strongly affect the observed spectrum. These computations can give an alternative explanation for the observed X-ray emission lines in the early afterglows of GRBs (e.g., GRB 011211). Our technique allows the GRB collimation angle and the environment clumpiness parameters to be independently constrained.  相似文献

Broadband afterglow observations provide a probe of the density structure of the circumburst medium. In the spreading jet model, prompt and intense X-ray/UV radiation from the reverse shock may destroy and clear the dust in the circumburst cloud out to about 30 pc within the initial solid angle of the jet. Asthe jet expands significantly, optical radiation from the high-latitude part of the jet may suffer extinction by dust outside the initial solid angle, while radiation from the part within the initial solid angle can be observed without extinction. In previous studies, it is usually assumed that the extinction is complete. We calculate the extinction effect by taking the optical depth into account. Our numerical results showthat a break appears in the light curve of optical afterglow but it extends over a factor of ~ 80 in time rather than a factor of ~ 10 in time for the case of strong dust extinction and a factor of ~ 60 in time for the case without dust extinction. These results may provide a way to judge how large the number density of the circumburst cloud is. Finally, we carry out a detailed modeling for the afterglow of GRB 000926. Our model can provide a good fit to the multi-color observations of this event.  相似文献
