In the coastal oceans, the interaction of currents (such as the barotropic tide) with topography can generate large-amplitude,
horizontally propagating internal solitary waves. These waves often occur in regions where the waveguide properties vary in
the direction of propagation. We consider the modelling of these waves by nonlinear evolution equations of the Korteweg–de
Vries type with variable coefficients, and we describe how these models are used to describe the shoaling of internal solitary

The worlds >1500 mud volcanoes are normally in a dormant stage due to the short duration of eruptions. Their dormant stage activity is often characterized by vigorous seepage of water, gas, and petroleum. However, the source of the fluids and the fluid–rock interactions within the mud volcano conduit remain poorly understood. In order to investigate this type of activity, we have combined satellite images with fieldwork and extensive sampling of water and gas at seeping gryphons, pools and salsa lakes at the Dashgil mud volcano in Azerbaijan. We find that caldera collapse faults and E–W oriented faults determine the location of the seeps. The seeping gas is dominated by methane (94.9–99.6%), with a δ13C (‰ V-PDB) in the −43.9 to −40.4‰ range, consistent throughout the 12 analysed seeps. Ethane and carbon dioxide occur in minor amounts. Seventeen samples of seeping water show a wide range in solute content and isotopic composition. Pools and salsa lakes have the highest salinities (up to 101,043 ppm Cl) and the lowest δ18O (‰ V-SMOW) values (1–4‰). The mud-rich gryphons have low salinities (<18,000 ppm Cl) and are enriched in 18O (δ18O = 4–6‰). 相似文献

利用1°×1°经纬度的NCEP再分析资料、地面1 h降水和卫星黑体辐射亮度温度资料,分析了2006年6月5~8日引发福建北部大暴雨的梅雨锋上的中尺度对流系统活动,探讨了梅雨锋上或锋前暖区一侧中尺度对流系统触发和增强的动力机制,并进一步研究了强降水凝结潜热造成的非绝热加热在对流系统发生发展中的作用。结果发现:福建北部强降水产生是由梅雨锋上或锋前多个β中尺度或α中尺度的强对流系统活动造成的,这些中尺度对流系统的发生发展与大尺度地转强迫造成的上升运动、武夷山脉等的地形动力强迫抬升作用、梅雨锋锋生以及锋面的阻挡和直接抬升作用有关。梅雨锋上强降水造成的非绝热加热在中尺度对流系统的形成和发展中起到了重要作用。最后,总结出梅雨锋上中尺度对流系统发生发展的概念模型。 相似文献

The effect that recent relief changes may have on the distribution of rock ages with elevation is investigated for a range of thermochronometers. From the solution of the heat transport equation in a crustal block undergoing uplift and surface erosion, the temperature history of rock particles that are exhumed at the Earth’s surface today is computed. These T-t paths are then used to calculate apparent isotopic ages for the (U–Th)/He system in apatite, characterized by a low (≈70°C) closure temperature. The results show that recent relief changes strongly affect the distribution of ages with elevation (notably the slope of the age–elevation relationship). The calculations presented here predict that, in most situations, regions that have undergone a steady decrease in surface relief in the recent past should be characterized by an inverted age–elevation relationship, that is older ages should be found near valley bottoms and younger ages near summit tops. It is also shown how the wavelength of the topography, the geothermal gradient, the exhumation rate and the duration of the relief reduction event affect this result. 相似文献

利用美国国家航空航天局火灾信息资源管理系统(FIRMS)VIIRS V1活跃火、先进星载热发射和反射辐射仪全球数字高程模型(ASTER GDEM)、MODIS NDVI/LSWI与土地覆被数据产品(FROM-GLC),基于GIS定量分析老挝2012—2017年从分省到国家不同空间尺度活跃火频次的动态变化,并重点分析2015厄尔尼诺年活跃火频次及其与海拔、坡度、植被-水分(NDVI *、LSWI)指数、土地覆被等主要自然地理要素的相关特征。结果表明:① 老挝活跃火频次呈先增后减的趋势,峰值在2015厄尔尼诺年,主要集中在上、中寮,其中琅勃拉邦、沙耶武里与沙湾拿吉三省居前三位,而万象市、塞公和赛宋本则居后三位。② 老挝2012—2017年活跃火发生频次与地形因素(海拔、坡度)的关系基本相同,活跃火集中在海拔1000 m以下、坡度小于30°的低山-丘陵区。其中,上寮活跃火集中分布在500~1000 m、10~30°的斜陡坡山地,中、下寮集中在500 m以下、2~20°的缓斜坡丘陵。③ 活跃火高度集中在旱季,以3月、4月最多,并集中分布在NDVI为0.4~0.8和LSWI为0.2~0.6的中高覆盖度植被区。④ 老挝活跃火主要发生在森林这一土地覆被类型中,且以上寮最为集中,而中寮多以农田、草地和灌丛活跃火为主。综上,基于自然地理要素的活跃火特征分析可以有效识别其发生类型,即老挝活跃火主要由刀耕火种农业所引起。 相似文献

通过野外火山堆积物的相分析、岩石显微鉴定和造岩矿物化学分析,可以确认气象站期晚期碱流质熔岩是典型的溢流熔浆冷却固结形成的,不是碎成熔岩。熔岩流的顶部和底部是黑曜质碱流岩的表壳相,中部是致密厚层与薄层相间产出的、具有塑性变形的碱流岩的内部相。组成熔岩流的岩石具有斑状和聚斑结构,从表壳相向内部相基质依次发育玻璃质结构、(微)球粒结构和霏细结构。斑晶矿物钠透长石、钙铁辉石、铁橄榄石和少量石英出现在熔岩流的所有岩相中,而钠铁闪石、铁钠透闪石和钛铁矿则作为内部相基质中的显微斑晶出现。气象站期晚期碱流质熔岩是过铝质、过碱性的钠闪碱流质熔岩,属于碱性系列,与意大利潘泰莱里亚岛碱流岩相比,富Si、Al、K、Mg、Ca和P而贫Fe、Na、Mn和Ti。 相似文献

This paper describes design, observation methodology, results and interpretation of the GPS surveys conducted in the areas of the N-W of Tenerife where deformation was detected using InSAR. To avoid undesirable antenna positioning errors in the stations built using nails, we designed and used calibrated, fixed-length metal poles, allowing us to guarantee that the GPS antenna was stationed with a height repeatability of the order of 1 mm and of less than 3 millimeters on the horizontal plane. The results demonstrate that this system is ideal for field observation, especially to detect small displacements that might be masked by accidental errors in height measurements or centering when observed with a tripod. When observations were processed, we found that using different antenna models in the same session sometimes causes errors that can lead to rather inaccurate results. We also found that it is advisable to observe one or two stations in all the sessions. The results have reconfirmed the displacement in the Chío deformation zone for the period 1995–2000 and indicate a vertical rebound from 2000 to 2002. They also confirm that the subsidence detected by InSAR to the south of the Garachico village has continued since 2000, although the magnitude of the vertical deformation has increased from around 1 cm to more than 3 cm a year. Detected displacements could be due to groundwater level variation throughout the island. A first attempt of modelling has been made using a simple model. The results indicate that the observed deformation and the groundwater level variation are related in some way. The obtained results are very important because they might affect the design of the geodetic monitoring of volcanic reactivation on the island, which will only be actually useful if it is capable of distinguishing between displacements that might be linked to volcanic activity and those produced by other causes. Even though the study was limited to a given area of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, some conclusions apply to, and are of general interest in similar geodynamic studies. 相似文献

为了探讨海底地形对旋转潮波系统的影响,本文对不同底形情况下的潮波运动进行了数值试验。根据试验结果绘制了同潮图并作了讨论。其结论是:(1)对无潮点相对于矩形海域中轴线的偏移来说,摩擦的影响和海底地形的影响可能都是重要的。如果是浅水区域,这种偏移主要是由摩擦引起的,但对平均水深较深、海底在横方向上有坡度的水域来说,底形效应是导致无潮点偏移的主要因素;(2)海底摩擦仅能使无潮点偏移到中轴线的左方(如果人们面向湾顶),而底形则可能使无潮点偏移到中轴线的左方或者中轴线的右方,这将取决于海底横向倾斜的方向。 相似文献

ABSTRACT The relationships in ocean depth and heat flow with crustal age place valuable constraints on the thermal evolution of the oceanic lithosphere. This work aims to establish the relationships for the V-shaped Southwest Subbasin, the southwestern end of the South China Sea formed during 23.6–16 Ma. Using high-resolution multichannel seismic profiles and heat flow measurements, we calculate sediment-corrected topography and heat flow, which are then plotted against crustal age to establish their relationships. The results show that the post-spreading volcanism in the South China Sea influences less on the present-day heat flow than topography. In addition, the topography data are evidently deeper and heat flow data are much lower in the Southeast Asian marginal seas than other oceans. Previous explanation suggested that the abnormal features resulted from lateral heat loss, which would predict a deeper lithosphere–asthenosphere boundary and a high slope in topography and heat flow with age, contrary to the observations. Possible explanations for the abnormal features of the Southeast Asian marginal seas include (1) lack of long-time upwelling magma at the onset of spreading, and (2) reduced magma supply during the seafloor spreading. 相似文献
