Dynamic analysis on structures base-isolated by a ball system with restoring property

A computational model with its analysis method for base-isolated structures by a ball system with restoring property under seismic force is proposed in this paper, and the programs using numerical integration method and incremental harmonic balance method are developed. The analysis method is verified by shaking table test results of a three-storey masonry model. With these programs, the effect of some factors on the aseismic behaviour of base isolation system are analysed, and the comparison of seismic response between structures with and without base isolation is made. Results of both theory and test show that the above-mentioned base isolation system has apparent advantages over the traditional aseismic structures. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Overview of US Minerals Management Service Activities in Deepwater Research

The US Minerals Management Service (MMS) is responsible for safe and environmentally sound management of offshore oil and gas resources. In recent years, there has been a tremendous increase in both activities and plans for deepwater development of these resources in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM). As the industry meets the enormous technical challenges involved, there is a concomitant effort to assure environmental protection of deep-ocean and coastal resources. This paper will outline the research planning and program currently underway to assess impacts, identify potential problems, and discover more about unknown resources of the deep ocean.     

The Poseidon Operational Tool for the Prediction of Floating Pollutant Transport

In this work the development and the application of an operational management tool for the Greek Seas is described. This tool consists of a three-dimensional floating pollutant prediction model coupled with a weather, a hydrodynamic and a wave model in order to track the movements and the spreading of the pollutants and indicate those coastal areas which might be affected. The tool is part of the Poseidon system which has been designed to provide real time data and forecasts for marine environmental conditions in the Greek Seas. In this paper, we present four case studies based on realistic scenarios that show the value of the application for long-term strategic planning and short-term decision making in oil spill accidents.     

2003年新疆石河子5.4级地震前地震活动异常分析

分析了2003年2月14日石河子5．4级地震前北天山地震活动图像和地震学参数异常过程。5．4级地震发生在2002年北天山4级地震集中活动区空段，震前12项地震学参数时间进程存在中、短期异常，3项地震波参数出现短期异常。震前3个月乌鲁木齐震情窗出现超警戒线异常。震前10天震中附近地区地震和震群活动显著。     

层式滤波隔震垫

根据震相图展示的地震波运动规律,利用滚动摩擦阻力只相当滑动摩擦阻力1／40～1／60的力学效应,将轴承钢球呈层状重叠组合成隔震垫,可获得重复滤波效果,能高效降低地震对房屋建筑的作用力,达到提高地震安全度,降低建筑成本、节约建筑资源的目的。     

不同城市化水平地区农户农地收入分析——基于浙江省农户的问卷调查

用SPSS13.0单因素方差分析和均值比较方法,对浙江省不同城市化地区的农户农地收入比重进行比较分析。认为城市化不同,农户农地收入比重不同,城市化程度高的地区农户农地利用经济收入比值的平均值低于城市化程度低的地区,但城市化程度高的地区农户农地收入比值标准差大于城市化低的地区,其中主要原因是城市化不同导致农户兼业时间不同。提出要创造条件促进资源集中型农户兼业化,使农户农地利用经济效率得到提高,缩小城乡收入差距。     

广州市土地资源的保护和可持续利用研究

本文分析了广州市土地利用的结构及其变化趋势，指出土地利用上存在的主要问题和隐患 为采取有效措施，加强对耕地和环境的保护，以保证土地资源的可持续利用。     

德国饮用水水源保护区的建立与保护

在德国,饮用水被确定为生活中的第一物质材料,饮用水水源保护区的建立与保护是一项法律程序。德国人经过１００多年的长期实践,迄今为止已建立近２００００个饮用水水源保护区,在水源地保护方面积累了大量经验,被欧美工业国吸收采纳。本文介绍了德国饮用水水源保护区的政策、规范与模型;保护区的划定原则与方法,以及利用岩石土壤对水污染的过滤净化能力或者水体自然净化功能,分区分级保护和利用水源保护区的实用哲学。本文还描述了全流域生态系统保护与水源保护区的关系,东德与西德水源保护工作的差距。     

胶济铁路沿线城市群的空间模式及发展研究

分析了胶济铁路沿线城市群形成发展的原因，指出了城市群的现状特征，并对沿线城市群的发展提出了几点建议。     

红树林名称与红树林湿地保护

红树林保护刻不容缓,但目前的保护现状并不乐观,尤其是在忽视其湿地本质和生态系统的情况下,单纯的有林地保护现象甚为突出。针对以上问题,从红树林名称入手指出红树林的林学渊源,理清概念,分析保护现状,并从生态系统的角度阐述了红树林湿地结构和功能的整体性,探讨和呼吁科学的管理和保护。
